Okay. Bear with me here as this is my first thread on these forums.
An idea for an NPC or campaign came about after seeing the cover to Ultimate Fantastic Four#12 (do a google image search and all of this rant will make better sense)

Doom (a wizard or artificer) has regularly hired the same group of four adventures to search the world of Eberrron for all manor of things. He has hired many Warforged to work on his estate, in all manor of roles, to which the Warforged are greatful and respect the Doom for his kindness in this climate of warfroged distrust. (this whole idea is set after the Great War)

Doom has (or thinks he has) prefected a new means to bind elementals to an item or even a host. His grand experiment is sabotaged (a warforged loyal to the Lord of Blades who is angry/envious of the huge amount of Warforged in the Doctor's employment/an assassin sent by one of the Dragonmarked House as a means to repay a greatly outstanding debt the Doctor owes them/a simple mis-calculation on the Doctors part) Instead of binding an elemental to an item the experiment either creates the Fantastic Four (by binding a fire, air, water and earth elemental to the four adventures) and/or the experiment binds the Doom to a nearby warforged aid/servant. Doom will hate this change to his fine phsyical form. He'll be angry at the lack of apparant change to the four adventures.

This idea does create and interesting human/warforged hybrid template idea. Doom would retain all of his skills and feats, likewise most of his stats too, but would now be limited by his new body.

It must be noted that this idea was not intended to turn PCs into the Fantastic Four. The FF should be NPCs, likewise the Doom should stay a NPC too.

Good plot hooks after this include:
The PCs are hired by Doom to investigate who sabotaged his experiment. This may lead them to the far corners of Eberron or to cause Doom to face the truth that his experiment was a failure.
The PCs are hired to BE the assassins who sabotage the experiment. How do the PCs react when their mission results in the creation of four elemental adventures and a powerful warforged wizard/artificer?
The PCs encounter a spirit/ghost haunting the grounds/lands near Doom's estate. It claim to have once been a Warforged. It is indeed the spirit of the Waforged whose body Doom now inhabits. Can the PCs return him to his body, thus (hopefully) returning Doom to his. Or would it be easier to aid this spirit in finding a new body to inhabit?

Please understand that this idea is still growing in my mind. This is the reason there is no stats for anything. Likewise I've never DM'd and all of my ideas come from a player's perspective. Oh and Doctor Doom and Fanatstic Four are TM and copyright Marvel Entertainment. (Just playing it safe)

Remember, there are no new ideas, only new takes on old ones ;)

I'm glad to see some comicbook fans on these forums, but what do people think of my idea? Any suggestions on what stats someone like Doom would have? Any idea how you would combine the stats of a human wizard/artificer and a Warforged?

I'm really eager to hear what people have to say. Please be critical, but helpful.

Let Doom keep his old mental stats, but get the WF's physical stats.

Definitely make Doom an artificer. In classic FF comics his power comes from science (inventions) or magic. Both of these elements are part of the artificer class. That is unless you are going for the FF 500 era stuff.

For what it's worth (and if you search my other posts you'll find mention of this occasionally), I actually use the John Byrne era Doctor Doom as my inspiration for the Lord of Blades. He's a brilliant artificer, feared and seen as a villain around the world, but honorable, devoted to his "subjects" (in this case, his warforged followers), and admired by them. Plus, he's always coming up with new schemes and always surviving seemingly certain death. Of course, the key is that this era presented Doom as the beloved monarch of Latveria, as opposed to being a tyrant or dictator - so there was that paradox of a man the FF opposed, but who was a hero to his subjects.

So in my campaign, there's no need to transfer Doctor Doom into the warforged -- because Doom already IS the warforged.

Wow, I just searched for that cover. If you haven't done so yet, visit this (http://www.gamerscircle.net/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=555) link.

Man, I can see the Lord of Blades loading up his wand sheath with a high-level wand of fireball and looking just like that. Of course he'd need to be a lot buffer, covered in blades and have two little armored homunculi flitting nearby. The cloak adds something, though.

Thumbs-up!

Keith dont let Marvel hear that Lord of Blades is based on DR D or else they will sue like they did with City of Heroes!

So the Lord of Blades may have a working creation forge where he churns out clones of himself. Even if you kill him in a game...it could be a fake. :D

flawed copies, all of them. Nothing can match the genius of DOOM! er.. of the Lord of Blades! :D

If you're gonna merge Doom with a Warforged, why not use the 1/2 golem template? Just "make sure" he fails his save for the merge, and for the evil part of the template, and he'll be a serious threat!

There'll still be RP possibilities, but you have to let the characters understand what happened to Doom, or they'll just try to whack him. If they're sympathetic to Doom, it makes him a much more powerful and interesting character to play for the DM, and a much more believable and interesting threat to the players...better than the typical melodramatic doomsayer BBEG, anyway.
