He gives information on their history, organization, Dark lords, and even specific Rajha's. Pick it up if you get the chance. This article alone is worth the cover price. -griff

Griff_Goodbeard 10-12-05, 12:08 AM	There's basically a template with common traits all overlords (rajahs) have. Several are called out by name. Sul Khatesh, The Keeper of Secrets is fully stated out as a Wiz 36/ archmage 4. Also named, but not fully stated out are Rak Tulkhesh, the rage of war(fighter 15/cleric 15/ blackguard 10); Eldrantulku, the oathbreaker(rogue 15/ sorcerer 15/ mindbender 10); Tul Oreshka, the truth in the darkness(bard 20/ wizard 10/ loremaster 10); and Katashka, the gatekeeper(cleric 8/ wizard 8/ true necromancer 14) I asked Keith over on the enworld boards about providing more concrete rules for the rajha's and this is his response. Loved the LoD article, though I was surprised that you stat'd out the Rajahs. I think I remember reading in the AKB thread that you said you weren't going to do that. I see it like the Lord of Blades - if you like the approach I've taken you can use it; if you don't, you can go another way. Furthermore, there's nothing saying that all rajahs are alike; given their primal and mysterious nature, there could be another five that have a completely different level of ability than the ones I've presented here. One of my main motivations for providing stats was to give at least some indication of relative strength: to make clear that we are talking about beings with a divine level of power, not simply rakshasa with a few extra hit dice. This does not reflect an overall change to a philosophy of "everything needs to be defined!" I have no plans to ever reveal the cause of the Mourning, and like I said, if someone else wants to use archdevils or demon princes as rajahs - or something of their own design - more power to them. But a lot of people have said "Eberron doesn't have epic level challenges!" - and I wanted to show that there are horrors in the darkness, and to give those people something to sink their teeth into.

The only rajah to not be imprisoned, he instead lives in his tower, sending adventuring groups to their doom on pointless errands. He survives by keeping a low profile, disguising himself as a crazy old man and wearing his amulet of Epic non-detection and aversion.

However I remember something about daelkyrs beeing in the 40+ range while Rajah have been stated as beeing an ever greatest threat than daelkyrs. I'm somewhat confused ( it's not that much important, my PC won't reach the 20th level anyway).

The greater deamons of the Warhammer chaos god Slaanesh (the god of pleasure, pain and pretty things) are called Keepers of secrets... and they're not too bad spellcasters either.

They go up to 50 HD... The greatest threat to the world? The Daelkyr... their goal is to destroy the world in madness. No even the Rajahs, who are native, would want that. Imagine a scenario, where, to beat one evil, you need to unleash a greater evil... You need to unleash the Keeper of Secrets in order to prevent an invasion of Xoriat... How do you un-unleash him after?
Brastan 10-12-05, 12:03 PM	How do you un-unleash him after? Stick you head between your legs and... (I'm sure you know the rest). Alternatively you could try to find Pun-Pun, the most powerful character ever. :smirk: Say "I wish, I wish I was a fish." That way you use the last two charges on your ring and don't have to care anymore. Best option is to pull a Silver Flame binding and sacrifice one your party members. It's worked before.
Golbez57 10-12-05, 04:16 PM	I don't visit here near as often as I once did, and post even less often, but after having just read the article, stopped by with the intention of doing just what Gniff did: bringing attention to this outstanding article! Perhaps a SPOILER, so I'll treat it as such: Some of the Rajah appear to be similar in look to the rakshasa, and others are decidedly different. This settles one of those debates that's surfaced time and again, at least during the time that I was a regular to these forums. In addition to the stats and histories and such, the art accompanying the article was a brilliant. So, in addition to the kudos to Mr. Baker, cheers also to Krista A. Lewis, Linda Tso, Ben McSweeney, and Stacy Michalcewicz!
