dorpond 04-03-06, 10:37 AM	Do those that are born with dragonmarks able to use their granted powers without verbal, somatic, etc? Do they have to cast the spells like all other spell casters? I guess I am just trying to imagine each house and how I would imagine it all if I was actually there. Thanks!
ieattrollsforbreakfast 04-03-06, 10:43 AM	No one is born with a dragonmark, they typically manifest at puberty or later. As for how they are cast, the abilities are spell-like, so require no verbal, somatic, material, or any other component, just concentration. Read up on Spell-like Abilities in the glossary of the Monster Manual for more details (I believe they are under special abilities/attacks or something similar). So, when someone uses a dragonmark, you might see the mark flare, maybe you'd feel the air become dry, it likely differs depending on the mark and power used, particularly for aberrant marks. It has been mentioned multiple times that the user's mark burns when the ability is used, but the surrounding creatures probably won't notice this effect.
