Couldn't figure out if there was a better sub-forum for this, so my apologies if it is misplaced. Additionally, I think I've checked the ECS (and other books), and I apologize if I omitted something in my research. Anyways...

Quandry #1: How do the dragonmarks manifest? I recall something about "after a stressful situation," but I'm looking for a bit more detail. Do they appear gradually? Do they look like bruises which slowly take on form? Or do they appear suddenly/overnight?

Quandry #2: Do the lower-tier dragonmarks get incorporated into higher-tier dragonmarks, or are they separate marks? As in, does my least dragonmark of storm grow/expand into the lesser mark, or do I have two separate marks?

Thanks for your excellent input, illustrious Eberronites!

Well...

1. They appear in whatever way you want them to. I believe that in the novel, "Mark of Death", the mark on the main character's daughter was said to have appeared slowly. That said, I could also imagine them appearing spontaneously.

2. I have always gotten the impression that marks grew into the higher-tier marks, becoming both larger and more complex as they gain power.

I think they manifest differently based on the person. One person may dream of a dragon touching his shoulder and the next day he has a least mark. The next person may break out into a terrible fever for three days with a full body rash and when the rash clears she has a syberis mark.

And I've always said that the mark grows with the power.

Cool, thanks for the responses. Concerning #2, the growing-into-larger-marks was the impression I got from the artwork depicting the marks in the feat section of the ECS. So y'all don't know if there's an official paragraph or anything?

Keith has been asked this, but I don't remember him ever responding. You might want to check the FAQ, though, just in case.

Yeah, I figured I hadn't been the first to ask this question. Thanks for the tip.
