I picked up the Dragonmarked sourcebook last weekend and am really liking it. It's been a pretty good tool to get a better understanding about how dragonmarked houses fit into Khorvaire society. One area I think could have been fleshed out a bit more is the tension between independents and the dragonmarked houses. The book touches upon it briefly near the beginning, but it really leaves alot of the details up to the DM to flesh out. Something I have really enjoyed about Eberron. I kind of view the Dragonmarked houses as the WALMART, Home Depot, Comfort Inn, McDonalds, etc of Eberron. Not inherently bad things, but once they show up in an area, it drastically alters the economic and political landscape. People either get steamrolled into the dragonmarked guilds, or they suffer (economically or physically). So, I was wondering how (if at all) this schism has played out in your campaigns? Are the Dragonmarked Houses taking the shirt off the small guy? If so, has any anti-dragonmarked sentiment (armed terrorists striking out against the imperial capitalist pigs!) risen up in your campaigns?
