| Gez05-06-06, 10:16 AM | In an ongoing campaign, I've got three NPCs that could be descripted as "the Rude, the Bad, and the Stupid" -- one is a thuggish, brutal agent of house Deneith, one is an assassin of House Tarkanan (and founder/leader of a small-but-growing Dragon-Below cult within HT), the last is a naive, utopist cleric of the Silver Flame. The thing is, they're identical triplets, who've lost contact with each other during their childhood as a consequence of the war. (Yeah, the "Evil Twin" gimmick is even better with triplets.) Yet they're retained their family name. Oh, and they're aberrant-marked. And this brings me to the point of that thread. For now, the characters have only met the Stupid and the Bad. They will be given the name of the third character, the one is house Deneith, but I'd rather they not them to know just from that name that this third NPCs is related to the two others. So is it possible for an aberrant-marked mercenary of House Deneith to successfully pretend to be actually Sentinel-marked? The shield effect looks close enough to the Mark of Sentinel's possible powers to be believable, but he cannot really use Sentinel items and if his dragonmark is examinated, it'll be appearant he's an aberrant... The other options are giving him a genuine Sentinel mark (which I want to avoid, given his two brothers have aberrant marks, and they're from nobility anyway) or giving him a false identity without in-game justifications... :\ |

They know it is an aberrant mark, but they tell him it is just a rare Sentinel mark. It is also somewhere easily concealed, his back or back of head. So he has not even seen it very well. |

If he had access to money at any point he could take a distinctive Deneith item for a little customization to the genius artificer whose life he saved. That way his 'Shield of Deneith' works for his aberrant mark and is not linked to the mark of the sentinel. Add any other little touchs to make him appear as the common blademark. Drop them little character hints like an especially foul temperor occasionally leaving his charge in the heat of battle. |
