Dragonmarks for Warforged? [Archive] - Wizards Community

09-18-04, 01:26 PM Basically I was thinking about giving dragonmarks to warforged. Marks resulting from a new creation forge or maybe from a malfunctioning forge.
The mark of Making might be a good choice for warforged.

How about a mark of War? What might the properties of such a mark be? (Psionically or magic based, which is better?)

1/ Balance : Warforged don't qualify for Dragon marks because they're already pretty powerful. The marks allow the core races to compete.

2/ Setting : The warforged are created. The Dragonmarks appearing spontaneously on the "lesser" races is giving the Dragons something to think about wrt their prophecy. Allowing a Creation Forge to start popping out WF with Dragon Marks makes things rather interesting indeed - and you'd open a whole new kettle of fish if you did it.

That said - go right ahead, it's your campaign. I advise against it unless you're willing to answer some hard questons.

1/ Balance... 2/ Setting... I agree whole heartedly with Razor. Allowing Dragonmarks on warforged can be potentially unbalancing. And, there are already twelve Dragonmarked houses. Warforged are already unique, set apart from the organic races. I would not give them an element that casts them in with the very races they are suppose to be different from.

Just a few thoughts - nothing critical or slanderous.

Thoughts on balance: Dragonmarked Warforged having a level adjustment of +1 or +2.

Advancement of mark: Has restrictions (example:takes two feat spaces to go up a level), or Warforged has to do something spectacular as an extra requirement for the feat, or Warforged has to merge with a creation forge for a time needed to create so many Warforged and/or Warforged Titans.

That said, this is only the beginnings of a campaign idea that I was toying with.

09-18-04, 05:52 PM I would advise against it. Not because of balance or anything like that, but because if you open up dragonmarks to other races other than the core few, you take away some the uniqueness of that race. One of the best things about playing a core race in Eberron is that you get the option to belong to a Dragonmarked House, and opening up more seems to ruin the feel of it (for me anyway).

However, I do plan on running a Warforged Artificer with the Mark of Making inscribed on their forehead. Not a real dragonmark, just a copy of the shape.
