| Adamaro2306-22-07, 03:31 AM | One quick question,I don't want to sound like a noob, but what type of dragon is this one here on the cover?: http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=products/eberron/957297200 I really want to know, does anyone have any idea? or is possibly a new type of dragon going to be introduced? |
| The White Sorcerer06-22-07, 03:33 AM | Copper. |
| Adamaro2306-22-07, 03:52 AM | Thank you, I guess I just wasn't thinking straight, It's late  |
| Nundahl06-22-07, 07:21 AM | You know, I don't like the artwork on this dragon as much as the other Eberron covers, but thank you Wizards for not continuing to oversaturate me with yet another Blue Dragon, anyone else getting tired of their overuse or just me? (uh-oh ... that doesn't make me a troll does it?) |
| The White Sorcerer06-22-07, 07:24 AM | You know, I don't like the artwork on this dragon as much as the other Eberron covers I think it's because the cover is, AFAIK, not by Wayne Reynolds. Not that I think the cover is bad, but Eberron cover = Wayne Reynolds, dammit. but thank you Wizards for not continuing to oversaturate me with yet another Blue Dragon, anyone else getting tired of their overuse or just me? Now that you mention it, yeah, there are way too many blue dragons. They're not even the coolest looking ones. |
| Adamaro2306-22-07, 09:53 AM | I'm also sick of black dragons... but I agree the artwork doesn't exactly match the other Eberron books, but I still like the artwork. |
| DragoonDarkfire06-22-07, 11:35 AM | Dammnit I want a silver dragon. Those are awesome. They're the only dragon with a Mohawk. A GOD DAMN MOHAWK! |
| Amaril06-22-07, 11:51 AM | I'm hoping the new cover artist isn't the start of a new trend now that Wayne is doing some work for Paizo's Pathfinder series. This artist did the cover for Races of the Dragon and a lot of great interior work for numerous Eberron books, but as far as I'm concerned, an Eberron book needs to have Wayne Reynolds' artwork on the cover. His artwork always shows extremely dynamic action and sets the mood for that book, but the cover for Dragons of Eberron just seems... blah. Like, "Here's a dragon. Now move a long." Now, there is a possibility that this is temporary artwork. I can't tell 100% for sure, but the background scenery on the cover seems to be Wayne's work, and it doesn't fit the scene of the center of the cover. Edit: Actually, after zooming the image a bit, it does seem to fit the rest of the scene and it doesn't look like Wayne's work. Additionally, it looks like the dragon is flying and fighting another dragon. |
| CannibalSmith06-22-07, 11:56 AM | [..] but thank you Wizards for not continuing to oversaturate me with yet another Blue Dragon, anyone else getting tired of their overuse or just me? Huh? They guard Adara. That's it. As far as I know, there are no more known blue dragons in Eberron. |
| Amaril06-22-07, 11:59 AM | I don't think he's talking specifically about Eberron, just D&D products in general. |
| CannibalSmith06-22-07, 12:23 PM | In that case, I think red dragons are the most prevalent. |
| The Livewire06-25-07, 06:20 PM | I find it for shame too. My love of the blues goes back to Skye. And now people just think I'm hoping on the WotC bandwagon |
| Nundahl06-27-07, 09:36 AM | In that case, I think red dragons are the most prevalent. While I would have agreed with you at one time, I think because the Red Dragon was once so overused that the Blue Dragon is coming into play a LOT more now. The idea being to cover up one mistake with another, which I don't like ... there are plenty of dragons, D&D doesn't need a Blue Mascot. Just my thoughts, not to offend anyone. I actually like Blues a lot, I think I just don't like marketing in general ;) |
| Nundahl06-27-07, 09:37 AM | Also, sorry to double post, but I felt the need to mention I actually do like this artwork! I don't like it "as much" because there is a certain "feel" that the typical covers conjure up that this one looses, however the color patterns on this dragon are beautiful and it makes for a great cover! |
| Amaril06-27-07, 10:09 AM | I dunno. I think these are good samples of what Reynolds can do with a dragon. http://www.waynereynolds.com/D%26D/2.jpg http://www.waynereynolds.com/WOTCGallery1A/14.jpg http://www.waynereynolds.com/D%26D/e.jpg http://www.waynereynolds.com/D%26D/c.jpg |
