The one thing I'm trying to figure out is what the role of the other draconic deities are in Eberron. So far we know a bit about Tiamat and Chronepsis' roles, but nothing about Bahamut, Falazure, Lendys, Garyx, et. al. I think there are clues in the ToC under the Soverign Archetypes, but the "titles" don't precisely match the draconic pantheon as described in Draconomicon or Races of the Dragon. I don't expect Eberron's versions to be identical to the presentations in those two books; I'm just curious which archetypes correlate to which deities.

My guesses:

Child of Eberron: Io
Guide of the Weak: Bahamut
Lightkeeper: Tamara
Loredrake: Chronepsis or Hlal
Master of the Hoard: Astilabor
Passion's Flame: Garyx
Traveler: Aasterinian
Wyrm of War: Lendys

I'm unsure of:

Flame of the Forge
Fortune's Fang
Stalking Wyrm

10-08-07, 09:27 AM By the way, I wish I had this book two weeks ago when I concluded Grasp of the Emerald Claw. I would have loved to drop some draconic prophesy clues in the Thronegate Ruin for Muroni to discover so that I could have planted more seeds for Eyes of the Lich Queen.

There's this part...
For example, the Prophecy could reveal that if the dragons defeat the Dreaming Dark, Tiamat will be released; but if the adventurers accomplish the same task, the Daughter of Tiamat will remain bound for another thousand years.
I think that might have been an error and that it should have read Daughter of Khyber, which would make sense since Tiamat traditionally resides in the Abyss as fiendish deity.

10-08-07, 11:40 AM As an aside, I've been working on my own dragon-themed setting, but I'm stuck at the point of creating the regions/nations of the world. The original intent of the setting was to create a world that uses all of the material from the "Legend of Sardior" series of articles from the Mind's Eye archives, Draconomicon, Races of the Dragon, spawn of Tiamat in Monster Manual IV, and Dragon Magic, plus a few other pieces spread across 3e books such as the dragon shaman class in Player's Handbook II.

I've been wondering if Dragons of Eberron might paint a picture that would allow me to use that content with Eberron as my base setting. I know that Eberron doesn't implicitly or explicitly declare the inclusion of most of that content, but I'm hoping that it at least leaves enough room for me to inject my own ideas into the world of Eberron.

Based on what I've read so far, I think it might be possible. We've already got mentioning of the three types of kobolds. Talons of Tiamat, I assume, is based off the PrC in Draconomicon. I could easily see the Dracolexi PrC relating to prophecy marks.

Hmm... maybe I'll start a blog or thread about incorporating those ideas into Eberron.

You are correct - unfortunately, I just checked the final file and that slipped past the editors. However, the proper title is used elsewhere. Tiamat's role in the setting is clearly explored in chapter one and has had a significant influence on draconic history. Like the Tairnadal elves and the Gatekeeper orcs, she's not the same Tiamat you may be used to dealing with, but I'm quite pleased with her role in the world.

10-12-07, 08:46 AM So has anyone seen a copy of this yet? I know Amazon doesn't have it until the 16th, but I also know some members of the community are able to get copies of WotC books earlier than most.

10-19-07, 10:44 PM I just bought this one yesterday. Haven't read it in detail but I like the bits I've skimmed over. Only thing I don't like so much is the cover art. It's okay but why didn't they use the 'regular guy' - sorry, I don't know his name but I sure like his stuff.

The one and only WAR (Wayne A. Reynolds). Not only the best in the biz, but also a very very nice gentleman (I had the pleasure of meeting him at Gencon a few times).

He does all the covers for Pathfinder...they are delicious.

10-20-07, 12:19 AM The Tiamat stuff is great. I had the group meet some Yuan-ti cultists of the King in Yellow and dragonspawn Tiamat worshippers and was trying to decide who would be the throwaway badguys. Now it looks like both groups are going to be the main bad guys. Good times guys. That was my favorites part so far. ;)
