From the art gallery I have seen, it seems they "officially" included dragonspawns from MM IV into Eberron, I'm curious: are they given a role or a niche in the setting? What is their backstory/history, if any is given?

Thanks.

Keith dreamed up some awesomeness for dragonspawns in the upcoming Dragons of Eberron...but I should say no more.

Interesting. Does he follow the ideas presented in MMIV or should we look forward to a re-imagining of their role in Eberron?

*sigh* You're killing me here! You're not helping my impatience for DoE's release at all.

I'll just distract myself over the summer with the remainder of the schema adventures, Voyage of the Golden Dragon, and a Heroes of Battle mini-campaign using The Forge of War.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGHHHH!!!!!

Why isn't DoE coming out before the Last War book?! I mean, don't get me wrong, I want Forge of War too. In fact, as soon as I have it, we're taking a month-long break from our 1 1/2 year+ Eberron game to do a mini-game set 60-70 years prior to present day. But now I want DoE even more.

AGGGHAAGHAGHAGHAAAAGGGGGGAAAAHHH!!!!

Nice! I love Heroes of Battle!!! Good luck with the campaign! Tell me how Voyage goes for you too. Definitely take advice found elsewhere on this forum and make the ship much much much bigger than it is specified as being in the module! Gigantic airships are awesome!

No, you feel your pain. Your pain is that of an author who already done seen lots o' dem purty wordcount what would like to see it in a delicious hardcover coating. My pain is that of a fan who has seen NOTHING and cries himself to sleep every night he doesn't have a new Eberron book. So like...more than 300 days out of a year, I guess.

Sorry!!! :weep:

Just a few short months away!!!

Year after year, as I'm older and older I used to be more patient and enjoy the thrill of waiting for something ... 'cause I know it will happen in the end (usually sooner than I thought)and I can fill my time till that moment with thinking how good it will be when it finally happens ;)

Anyway ... looking forward that book, too!

A few short months is 3 months. We're looking at 5 months of anguishing anticipation and ambiguous allusions.

So I guess that means the Dragonspawn is dropped in the adventure without ANY explication? Nothing to explain where they are from , what they do, etc... ?

Bump, because no one gave a real answer.

Well, sharing the role of the dragonspawn in this particular adventure would give too much away, which is probably why Nic wrote what he did in his post.

I won't play that adventure. I just want to know the ecologies of the dragonspawns in Eberron, so please just tell me, because you seem to know but deem that such knowledge is not for me.

Basically, in the MM IV, whoever wrote the "Dragonspawn in Eberron" entries didn't know how deities work in Eberron, so it's basically invalid. As mentioned in this thread (thus answering your question) the new and overwriting version of what the role of Dragonspawn in Eberron is will be in Dragons of Eberron.

So basically, if you'd read the thread, you'd have known the answer.

I don't have the module with me, and I won't until Friday afternoon (going out of town). When I get back, I'll post the role of the dragonspawn in the module in an sblock (unless someone beats me to it).

Keep in mind, the role and origins of this particular dragonspawn might not necessarily be the same as Keith's explanation of dragonspawn in Eberron.

Also keep in mind that the OTHER dragonspawn in the adventure besides the BIG one is never explained.

Bottom line is that Eyes of the Lich Queen doesn't really explain the role of dragonspawn in Eberron.

Basically, if you had read my OP, you would have known that I don't care about a 50$ book that will be coming in 6 months when I will without the financial means to buy it. What I asked for was: What explanation is given for the appearence of dragonspawns in the EYES OF THE LICH QUEEN module. Notice that I didn't talk about Dragons of Eberron? Stop trying to play smarter, post something constructive or nothing at all.

Finally, thanks you. Someone finally took the time to sit and actually answer my question.

What I asked for was: What explanation is given for the appearence of dragonspawns in the EYES OF THE LICH QUEEN module. Notice that I didn't talk about Dragons of Eberron? Actually, what you asked was, "They "officially" included dragonspawns from MM IV into Eberron, I'm curious: are they given a role or a niche in the setting? What is their backstory/history, if any is given?"

So actually, you asked about MM IV in the OP. So you didn't even read your own post, much less those of others? Tut, tut.

But to answer your OP, the MM IV says that Tiamat is manipulating the prophecy. Only, in Eberron, Tiamat is a constellation. That'd be like saying the Big Dipper impregnates bears. So, as I said in an earlier comment, the MM IV Eberron is invalid if you're using the ECS Eberron.

Now, on to the question you say you asked in the OP, but actually asked much later.

The big bad bluespawn godslayer at the end is a fraction of the power of the Dragon's Eye and its power source, something specific to the adventure. Thus, no niche, and a unique creature in its own right. There is another bluespawn creature earlier, but it isn't explained or given a niche, role or backstory.

So next time, try being clear instead of assuming we know you meant EotLQ when you only said MM IV, and you might get the answer to it. We can't answer questions you don't ask.
