I finished the Gates of Night last week, and just caught up to the novel thread.

I figured we could take a stab at statting up the three weird warforged. I won't do all their stats, as its cooperative and I also have a raging hatred for magic items.

I figure Indigo and Harmattan have more levels than the PCs (who are about 8th-level, according to Keith Baker), since Harmattan said that Pierce hadn't reached his full potential, but implied that he himself had. Since the Lord of Blades is 12th-level at campaign start, and the PCs haven't even made it to year 998 yet, I figure Harmattan and co. cannot exceed 11th-level.

Indigo is the easiest to stat up. She'd be a Rogue/Fighter with Mithral Body, very high Dex and decent Charisma (she practiced sneak attack on a foolish human shortly after being made). She has a pair of arm-blades; I think they're adamantine but I don't recall for sure. I figure Rog 5/Ftr 6 would do it, or maybe Rog 7/Ftr 4 (just enough to specialize in her armblades).

Hydra didn't seem to be as tough as the others, probably due to being split up. He didn't seem to share hit points (when one body was damaged, it moved more slowly than the others, which it wouldn't have done if it was sharing hit points). I figure Hydra would be a Warforged Scout with Mithral Body and levels in either Scout or Ranger, probably no more than nine at absolute max, and maybe no more than seven. Each body shares thoughts with each other (if you fail to surprise even one of the bodies, you fail to surprise any of them). Who knows what the range on his telepathy is?

Note, however, that Hydra is basically up to five (or even more) identical characters, so in theory he'd be a good challenge to a party of 8th-level heroes by himself.

Harmattan is the hardest one to stat up, as he has access to multiple abilities that aren't defined by the rules.

I'd start with class levels - probably fighter. He seems to know a lot about the mystical/arcane stuff and has some decent social skills, yet he's entirely non-biological (which means he could have had levels of Warforged Juggernaut, but then he has decent social skills...) He never actually uses his social skills on non-warforged though, so I think WF Juggernaut is allowed. I'd stat him up as Ftr X/Cleric or Artificer X/Warforged Juggernaut X. Cleric gives him social skills and a decent skill selection, but we never actually see him cast spells... Expert would work except, you know, it's the Expert class :)

As for his non-standard abilities, he is now Huge with a very high simulated Strength score and seems to have been made of Adamantium at one point (and his head still is). I'd treat him as a swarm, except that critical hits hit his head (which has DR 2/adamantine or maybe more). He has fast healing (which can heal him even when out-of-commission, basically making him invincible) and has a special area-of-effect attack that works a bit like Blade Barrier. In effect, even if he's not primarily all about kicking arse in combat, he can kick a lot of arse in combat, then philosophize about it afterwards with his fellow warforged while studying Xen'drik magic items.
