Drudic sects [Archive] - Wizards Community

06-22-04, 06:45 PM They say there are a lot of druidic sects in the Eldeen reaches. We've seen:

The wardens of the wood: The main sect
the ashbound:extremist greenies
the children of winter: druidic death worshippers
the greensingers:fey lovers
the gate keepers: the first druids

So how about we come up with some more?

06-23-04, 11:15 AM The Wanderers Of The Wastes. Although only based in the Eldeen Reaches are a druid and ranger sect that embarks on dangerous missions repeatedly into the Demon Wastes. They fear that there are things that would bring great evils into the world, and they seek to find them and finish them before they awaken.

Just to clarify and build on what is said on page 75: The Children of Winter are not actually death worshippers in the same sense as the Blood of Vol. Instead, they are extreme Darwinists who embrace death as part of the natural cycle of life. Disease, winter, and the other hazards of nature are the world's way of weeding out weakness. Tied to this is a belief in cycles, and that the current age is coming to an end. They see the Mourning as a sign of this coming apocalypse. So they don't hate life; but they believe that all things must die, and that it is their duty to act as agents of the apocalypse.

All the lesser sects will be developed in more detail in the future. One of my players played a shifter Child of Winter, and she was a great character -- while they are obviously well-suited to being villians, they can be interesting heroes as well. They can't be good, but that doesn't mean they're all evil.

I realise that they believe that death is the natural cycle.
