| Radazim02-23-06, 11:10 PM | The "headstart" for people who preordered begins tomorrow, and the regular retail launch is Tuesday. If you haven't heard or recently looked at the game, visit the DDO website (http://www.ddo.com) for more information. The game is a reasonably faithful interpretation of D&D, given the limitations of real-time combat and a computer DM. It's not for everyone, but those of us who like it really love it. Just to get a few things straight up front: 1. There is no PvP. 2. There is no crafting or magic item creation, though I expect things like Scribe Scroll, Brew Potion, and maybe Craft Wand to eventually make an appearance. 3. The game is group oriented and you really cannot solo beyond the beginning few quests (which take only a few hours to complete). 4. No artificers, druids, or monks at launch. 5. No half-elves, gnomes, half-orcs, changelings, or shifters at launch. 6. Turbine is known for adding both content and character expansions in their monthly updates, so I expect many of the above (except PvP) to be addressed in the first year. I think the game is worth every penny of the price of admission, but everyone has their own opinions of the game. I encourage you to at least keep an eye on it over the next month to see how the launch goes and initial press comes in. |
