Aerenal: The most interesting thing done withe elves in quite a while. Aundair: Lawful Good nation, voted most likely of the four kingdoms to be involved in backstabbing treatchery. Breland: The biggest and best nation on Khorvaire. Therefore, it slightly resembles America. Gnomes: Not mangled Kender anymore. Hobgoblins: Did someone say Samuri? Lords of Dust: Insanely evil imortal Tiggers. Kaius: That guy who's like Straud but remarried. Faithless! Mournland: Like ravenloft but without the powers checks. Yay! But no healing... Vol: That woman who's like Vecna but an Elf. And a half-dragon. With the mark of death.

Uller999 02-03-05, 11:10 AM	Sureley he meant best in the case of economics, armed forces, and, influence (what a nation's power is generally based on). So America woud top a list such as that without a doubt. Its not to say they are better culturally, morally, or anyhting else over any other country and I would say they aren't but in power...they are. If you don't believe that they are have the most powerful military, strongest economy, and most substantial world influence, that's fine I think history and modern international poltics would disagree with you. Anyway Breland as mentioned in the ECS with their substantial military and industry seemed most likely to win the war and reunite Galifar but decided not to. They are definatley the strongest industrial power and they karnath and Valenar would probably would have a hell of a rumble if the three went toe to toe (Droam's not a nation so I digress). But I must say the bit at the top is a bit curt and not all that helpful for new people

China is the biggest country in the world, and has the largest armed force. So Breland resembles a blend of China and Norway actually....... Even though the Mournlands is surrounded by mist, it is nothing like Ravenloft. Aundair is not Lawful Good! Gnomes have never been mangled kender. Kender where based on the tolkienesque halfling (trying to create an interesting twist), and the 3.0/3.5 halfling seems to be based on kender. Straud? Who's that? If you're thinking about Count Strahd, I don't think Strahd and Kaius are very much alike, except for being vampires and owning some land.

As a global world exonomic power, the US has much more pull then Norway. Besides, if we look at Sharn, we will see that many of it's citizens have a very low standard of living. and While China has the largest military, it is not as effective as the US. Substandard training, less effective equipment. If you think I'm makeing this up, I'm not. China has realized this and has desided to start work on changeing this. But as it stands at this point in time, the US is recognized as haveing the most powerful armed service.
Uller999 02-03-05, 01:13 PM	again as far as power goes, the US is easily the most powerful country in the world. It has the most influence both militarily and economically (since WW II) the world standard of economic transaction for forty years was the dollar and even now the US has the strongest currency and highest GPD of any other country. This is a ra ra the US thing its just fact. I am American true and not bad mouthing any other countries. But standard of living does not a super power make. The USSR during its hay days in the fifties and early sixities had relativley bad standard of living (for that time, I don't have the stats on me) but was, along with the US one of the most infulential and militaristically powerful nations in the world. I'm aware that the guy who started this thread was joking but Breland does draw a very interesting comparison to modern america or IMO to idustrial britain, what with the devolution of consolidated monarchal power to a democratic parliament. the book states that Breland is the leading industrial power in so far as production not beauty, artifice, quality, etc. Also during its brief explination of the last war the book states that Breland probably could have won the war if they had continued. So Breland probably has the best military as far as equipment and personnel training. To draw a comparison I think Valenar has the best individual soldiers but not the industrial power to outfit these soliders with the best equipment and not the numbers to really challenge any nation as far as a prolonged war goes. Now Karrnath I think is very interesting becasue of its uber militaristic stance augmented by undead. This means that once Karrnath's shattered population recovers if it maintains its militaristic autocracy it could be a real terror of a nation. Like say Prussia was in the 1800s. I can see Karrnath taking very aggresive actionin the Talenta Plains as a means of territory aquisition, stuff like that. If I were the halfling I'd be well scared on at least two borders. Were as Breland has much less to fear from its surronding enemies. Thrane can't mount an effective attack, Darguun is disorganized and an army attacking a foreign nation would have to constantly be conjoled to act as an army, and than Droam of course is a big threat but I honestly can't get a handle on how scary they are. Anyway as a side note, isn't great to have a campaign setting where you can actually sort of get a handle and conceptualize then nations and the way the interact? I mean I still am not 100& how Cormyr interacts with the city states of the wester heartlands or if at all Westgate trades with Sembia or how. I love Eberron so so much. :D

Somebloke: well played. Hell, one of of a dozen isn't to bad... Hmmm....clearly my humor is not for everyone... Okay, the America thing clearly has people in a bind. Look, it's simple. Breland is currently the top, in terms of power, of the nations so far. It is the country with the strongest democratic tradition, with the subtle hint that the two above traits are connected. Sharn resembles, with it's towering...er, towers, it's relatively high level of immigrants, and rich socialites, in many ways New York. Or maybe it's just the model of all large cosmopolitain cities, including New York. I apologise to all fantasy nations, to Patriotic Americans and to those who hate America, since even numbers of both seem to have taken offence... As for the Kaius thing, I've always found the whole 'Vampire Lord, dead wife, dark kingdom thing" to be at least vaguely similar, and a tad humorous when you consider that unlike Kaius, he remarried- no pining in empty throne rooms for him- he has an elf queen to attend to. Maybe that's just me. I apologise to all Vampire Lords. I've mentioned elsewhere that I find Kaius one of the most interesting characters in the setting... Lastly, I apologise to all Gnomes. Please don't sick the Trust onto me... And finally, I apologise to Hellcow, since he wrote the setting and is the only one left who is justified at taking offence. It was meant in jest. I am DMing the setting, so clearly I like it a lot.

It was a combination of being drunk and being sick to death of people making smart ass comments and than becoming accusatory when you choose to respond to them. It irks me is all. I see it on the boards all the time. If you want to make personal attacks than its not trolling to respond really, its trolling to make the personal attack. As for the initial thing I found it funny but I also found it intrieguing for that same reason. Anyway sorry that people feel obligated to constantly belittle others and sorry for not liking it. I'm recovered now and I'm off to bed but good night to you all

When I first visited it, I did notice the misspellings (intentional, as I see now from Somebloke's well-written reply) in the title, and once I read down to see debates about "which real-world country in the world is best", it sent my Troll Sense tingling. *shakes head dog-like* There, that should clear things up. I guess I need to get my Sarcasm Sense checked, too. It's usually the type of humor I appreciate the most. Well, arrogant sarcasm, really. Sorry I didn't mean to be so snappy.
