| Sidious07-19-04, 08:01 PM | Has anyone run the adventure in the back of the book, "The Forgotten Forge"? Two questions on it-One, can three first-levels survive it, and two, is it supposed to allow the PC's to level directly afterwards? (After tallying up all the potential xp awards, I found a total of 1,170 points for each character [3 pc's]) |
| James Garr07-19-04, 08:29 PM | Since the Shadows of the Last War adventure is the sequel and designed for 2nd level characters, I think if they level up during the Forgotten Forge that would be fine. Not sure if three first levels would survive it, depends on the classes chosen and skill of the players. There's always a bit of risk when one critical hit can instantly kill. |

However, there are a number of opportunities for adventurers to rest and imbibe potions and liquids from fonts. Use an NPC to accompany the adventurers to provide support and to relay relevant information dealing with Eberron and the City of Towers. Good Luck! - Araelethe |
| Mr Wesley07-19-04, 11:04 PM | I'm in the midst of playing it online over at DND Online Games (http://www.dndonlinegames.com) right now. I'm playing a warforged, I just got sucker punched in the fiirst round of the first fight of the game and have lost all but one HP. I'm going to have to vote no, three is just not enough to survive. :D |
| TheFated107-19-04, 11:33 PM | I played through this adventure with a group of three first levels and they survived, however, barely. I had to change the Iron Defenders encounter so that they could be shut off without combat by the bearer of the book. It was an on-the-fly decision based on my groups condition and actions. Believe it or not, they handled Saber very well, it was those damned rats that were the biggest problem. If your party isnt combat oriented or they arent in good shape, id change it to 2 giant rats instead, and they should be fine. |
| Sidious07-20-04, 07:37 AM | All right, that shouldn't be too hard...thanks, folks. |
| ondali07-20-04, 10:57 AM | I DM'ed it, and had a simular experience: defeating the swarm took much more trouble then expected, and instead of changing the rats, i let the ranger roll survival to get redirected to the temple instead of encountering the rats. they (4 PC's and 1 NPC) barely survived the iron defenders, and could have been wiped by saber, but they used the potions and darkness and some unlucky rolls of saber and some lucky rolls of the PC's to winn that final encounter. |
