The only thing that dissappoints me about Eberron is that, if I use Eberron as my campaign setting of choice, I won't be able to play Arcana Unearthed, which I'm also a big fan of. So, for a while now, I've been thinking of how to fit various elements of Arcana Unearthed into Eberron, so that I can get the best of both worlds. Anyway, I've written something up (http://www.gamecrafters.net/news.php?id=17) on the subject, and I'd appreciate any feedback you all have on it. Feel free to discuss it on my forums (http://www.gamecrafters.net/forums), as well, since at the moment my wife and I are the only members (hint, hint, we need more).

There is no reason you cannot include such things as Oath sworns and Magisters and MageBaldes. I myself use a Mage Blade in Eberron who has a Warforged companion, and is trying to save his artificer sister.

IS there any specific reason why you think you cannot use classes or abilities from the Monte Cook book?

Btw how did you escape the Slayers universe?

I do not think I am getting a skewed persepective in a public forum here if that is what you mean. I usually get that impression from fan sites or fan boards, thats why I rarely go to read or consider thier options unless I play in a game where the DM requires some reading. So far that hasn't happened.

I didn't say that I couldn't use mage blades and whatnot in Eberron; indeed, the article that I linked to details ways to do just that. I simply said that I couldn't play in both worlds at once. Did you read the article?

Great article, Zelgadas. Monte Cook's Arcana Unearthed is one of my favorite d20 products. I used AU in my World of Greyhawk home campaign, giving AU's magic system to the Balklunish spellcasters to give them a unique and alien flavor, for example.

I like all of the ideas in your article. All of the reasoning for the classes and races can work well. Don't be disappointed. There are three other large continents in Eberron for a campaign to experiment with - and you even mentioned Xen'Drik. There is definitely room for Cook's AU in Eberron. It can be a very unique addition to an already fantastic setting.

Yeah, when I sat down and thought about it for half a second, I realized that that whole "everything in D&D has a place in Eberron" mantra really means something, and even applies to things that aren't part of core D&D. They've done such a great job with the world, that it really wasn't that hard to add AU's classes and races into the mix; they all had logical places to go. Not only that, but I even (unintentionally) created a logical tie between the warforged and "eldritch magic". According to the history that I have for AU components, eldritch magic originated in Xen'drik with the giants. Presumably, house Cannith found the plans for the creation forges in Xen'drik, meaning that there were creatures not unlike modern warforged in ancient Xen'drik. Warforged have never been great spellcasters, but some of the AU spellcasting classes (like the mage blade) are viable choices, and are even somewhat appropriate. So, you've got a character story right there. Perhaps your warforged mage blade is an older, Xen'drik model that was inert until recently; that would explain his tie to eldritch magic fairly nicely, given that eldritch magic is somewhat uncommon in Khorvaire.

The swashbuckling class they have in there is also quite nice and a bit diffrent than the actual Swashbuckler class in "The Complete Warrior". I would defiantly include that in eberron.

Now, I will admit that I haven't yet read your article (short lunch break and all that), but I also agree that Mr. Cook's AU has a place in Eberron.

Glad to see others do as well.

Also, something I've mentioned on these boards already, but worth repeating: Chaositech fits nicely as well.

Nice article. I especially like making AU magic into its own kind of magic, Eldritch, and tying it to the giants, Xen'drik and Aernal. I would love to play a Valenar mageblade.

The AU prestige classes in the Diamond Throne would also work well. I could very easily see an Aernal magister Mage Priest who gains his powers from members of the Undying Court. I would probably change the prerequisite feat from Priest to Right of Counsel. Mage Priest also works well for worshippers of the Dragon Below, making packs with rakhshasa and other demons trapped in Khyber.

I agree completely. The beast reaver fits rather well, too, what with dinosaur-riding halflings and whatnot.

Indeed. Vol, naturally, would be a Magister 6 / Darkbond 10 rather than a Wizard 16.

I've been thinking about the races too. It makes sense for faen, which are physically similar to elves, to have also been a slave race of the giants. Following the giants' downfall, many faen scattered among Xen'drik, but a large exodus of faen travelled to what would eventually become the Eldeen reaches, where they learned the secret of becoming fae. That way you can have jungle pygmies in Xen'drik as well as treetop villages of faen sprytes in the faerie forests.

I would imagine you kept the origin of the sibeccai as well. I like a few of the weapons and the armor as well. But I like anthro charactes more often than not.
