although I have not actually played Eberron, I like the grittier (grittier than standard D&D, anyhow) and pulp style of Eberron, as well as the new races and classes. However, I dislike the basic D&D rules set, I prefer d20 Modern. So I was wondering if anyone had ever attempted doing an Eberron conversion for d20 Modern?

The way I see it, all you would need is Urban Arcana and additional Advanced Classes for the artificer, as well as specialized D&D classes like druid, monk, paladin and bard. The wizard, cleric, psion and sorceror counterparts are already included in Urban Arcana and would serve as a guideline for the additional classes. Anybody got a comment on that?

09-17-04, 12:55 PM I do see one prevalent problem with your idea. Eberron is a low level world while still infused with a lot of magical things due to the magewrigth class. Most of the magewrights are low level to go with the world, most probably don't go above 3rd level. And since advanced classes start at 4th level I don't really see Eberron being the same world it was when placed into the d20 Modern Conversion.

Not to say it won't work, it just takes a lot more work than what I think you're asking for. It would be alot easier to dumb down Eberron than to boost it up to d20 Modern I think.

Has somebody got a link or page reference for a description of the magewrights?

Well the issue I confront is a bit more of a mechanical kind of one. The reasoning behind is that the Smar hero class does not get magic. No character in D20 Modern actually gets magical qualities unless they take a feat for a very minor spel/thingl or they go into an advanced class. Yes magewrights don't actually get that much, but they certainly gain a lot more variety of magic and more quickly than say a D20 modern character.

They do get few spells per day, but one of the fundamentals that I see in D20 Modern is that no character gets a base class that allows them to do magical things. Though I don't really agree with it really. I would definetly love to see a version of D20 modern where there were wizards/bards/clerics/psions and the ilk right off the bat rather than having to spend time in other classes. But there's no way I'd personally consider a player created version to be as legitamte as a WotC product. WotC just spends sooo much more time, money and effort than a person acting on their own; heck it's their job to be that good. However plenty of peopel don't care about that so if you want to go ahead and get down with your bad self.

09-17-04, 06:34 PM I've got this rakshasa that has been stalking an NPC for taking something from him about 20 yrs ago Eberron time. The NPC is a strong ally to the PC's. It's time the rakshasa did something to him, but I don't actually want that PC to die, but the rakshasa has defiently taking the NPC's place to fool the PCs and have some fun with them. The vaugue idea is that he has the NPC locked up in his own room in a small demi-plane via a quite powerful artifact. What I need is a reason for the rakshasa to keep the NPC alive. One idea is maybe the NPC is being experimented upon by the rakshasa, but I don't really know what the rakshasa would want to experiment upon. Can you give me some help on that?
