my group recently came across an airship, and we were going to sell it. the we stole it actually. the original owner was a man named john larson. my question is if the bank would have papers into saying that john larson owns the ship and not anyone else. would i be able to fake my way into saying that im john larson or would i have to confirm it with the bank using john larsons identification papers. how would that work? does the bank have all of that information? aer the banks that darn good?

Your issue would be with House Lyrandar, who would have registered captains for every airship. Any city you try to dock in will likely have a matching record.

Well, also consider that the first thing you are going to be asked when selling something as valuable as an airship is: where are your papers showing that you own it! :) You can create a false provenance, but I doubt it will stand up to much investigation, especially against the interests of House Lyrander. Since they are all made in Zilargo, a message to Trolanport can check up on the origins of the ship.

Then again, there might be a 'finders fee' coming from the Windwrights' Guild, for returning their lost property. Airships are expensive enough, and hard enough to create, that it might be worth their while paying out to get ships returned.

Do not underestimate the resiliancy of the House Kundarak banking system, especially since House Sivis probably manages the financial records.

As the flying ships are really expensive and difficult to create i'd say that it won't be very easy to sell it at the max price.....if you have many connections in the underworld you can try selling it at the black market but that won't be easy, too.

Unless john larson was a renegade (either with a Mark of Storm, or just using high Charisma and opposed checks), it would probably be akin to stealing a Blackhawk helicopter or an F-16 from the US. Or, maybe, like stealing a really expensive yacht from someone rich/influential like Donald Trump.

In any case, records of the sale would be kept in numerous locations, probably both in House Lyrandar enclaves and in government "records offices". The Sivis gnomes and the Kundarak dwarves have no problems sending documentation anywhere within Khorvaire.

The PCs are likely to become hunted outlaws; they'll either have government agents, House agents, or hired mercenaries after them.

They could, of course, choose to keep it and become sky pirates. :)

my friends and i were captured on it by an small band of warforged and we ended up killing them, with the help of a group of anthropomophic cat people. once we took the ship we found the papers saying that John Larson owned the ship, what if he was killed? what if he is with more warforged that want us dead? what should we do? tell the truth? or just lie and try selling it? these warforged are part of a bigger group of illegal bandit/warriars. would they have all of the legal documents? or would i need to turn the ship over to the proper authorities. so many questions not yet answers. so many truthes not yet told... i just want some money...

I gave my players an airship, but it did it with rules like the real world maritime rules. Their airship was practically untitled when they got it.

I had them go to House Sivis and register that they owned it, and provide a name for the ship, and a city and country of origin. They also had to give their names, and who the captains were.

Every time they tried to dock anywhere, House Lyrandar checks their personal papers against their magic Sivis papers, to see if the PCs actually belong on the airship. I also made them pay fees to dock the airships in cities.
