Eberron "?Deluxe?" Character Sheets [Archive] - Wizards Community

09-08-05, 01:22 AM I very much love this setting, but for the first time I was very dissapointed at a purchase, that I feel I was misfortunate to make. This product is nowhere near worth $5, let alone $14.95 :mad: I feel I've been hoodwinked and hornswaggled out of well earned cash, that I cannot get refunded.
Anyone seeking Eberron characters sheets is better off with the free ones available on the webpage. Please do not waste your money on this product, which would therefore support such a lack of quality in official D&D products.

The DM screen is worth it for the spiffy map alone. For the $14.95 it's a virtual steal of a deal. The map is excellent, has all the lightning rail lines, nation borders, lesser town names and just about all you want on a map.

The DM Screen itself is not terribly Eberron specific. It does have house names and the days of the week and months of the year, but that's about all it has for specific eberron material.

However, I do like that it's only about 9" tall rather than like the normal taller ones. That makes it much easier to look over (I have a terrible time looking over standard DM screens at the table, so much so that I don't use them) and is thus a great boon. The artwork is wonderful and very eberronific (is that a word).

Overall, I was most pleased with the purchase.

The sheets I didn't mind and I bought them mostly to support the line and because I do like having nice character sheets for the rare times I don't use PC Gen to generate characters.

Get the screen. Sheets might be a pass, depending on how much you like them. (I didn't feel cheated but I certainly didn't come away with the feeling of "Wow, I made a steal on this one!")

DM Screen: B
Map with DM Screen: A+

But did you notice that House Jorasco was missing from the list? A travesty of very heavy-duty proportions.

I doubt I will ever use the screen, as the laptop has replaced it. I bought it for the map, which I had laminated.

I don't have a scanner so I went to my local FedEx/Kinkos yesterday. It was a $5.00 setup charge and $0.25/page. 20 double sided sheets = $10.00. $15 when you add the setup fee right? Nope. They charge $11.95 for the CD! So almost $30 later I have my CD of PDFs of the character sheets. I got into my office, popped the CD in and took a look. They look like crap. I've seen faxes that look better. I'm really upset about it right now.

I just called them and they offered to rescan them but apparently all they do is just use their copy machines to get the scan. To get e decent quality scan they charge $10 a shot. What a waste.

WotC really needs to offer PDFs of these types of products.

I avoided this by just doing the hard work of retyping the sheets into an Excell sheet. They came out as a few extra pages in some cases, but I did not want to hit Kinko's for this.

Ah, the DM screen/map tandem. Now that was a combo. Nice height & art on the screen & good sized map that I use to travel in my dreams. Can't wait for the maps of the other continents... :)

But, even still.. luckily I work at Hastings and got mine for $7.

I love the spell lists that are included in them, though. They include spells from the Complete books, which is nice.

The best things of all, though, were the Adventure Log and Character Development sheets. I mean, it's stuff that we've already covered with the characters in our game, and my players have decent memories, but they'll be nice tools for tracking adventures and the growth of characters throughout them.

The folder, though... AWFUL. I've never seen such a counter-productive Eberron image. I've been busting my balls at the D & D Online forums and with real-life friends to convince them that Eberron isn't the rip-off steampunk tripe that they've been poisoned by others into thinking... and this "Darth Maul-meets-the-Terminator" image of a Warforged, if seen by those I've tried to persuade to give Eberron the chance it deserves, will blast any hope of that into so much gooey matter.
