Hi everyone

I'm Jay, a young Dm. I'm starting up a new campaign. Now to mix up eberron even more, I'm goin to bring out an old campaign idea I never got to play or run.

The idea is called Incursion, it appears in Dragon 309, and Dungeon 100. The idea is you take your favorite campaign setting, then come up with the best way tactically that a superior invading Githyanki force from the astral plane could destroy your favorite campaign setting. Now, obviously the PCs will only play small parts in the overall war that ensues, but the idea is that by letting the PCs sorta discover hints and clues in the early adventures, that maybe their later adventures could turn the tide of war. Then in Dungeon 100, there's a whole, 18-20 level adventure involving infiltrating the Githynki Queen's fortress on the Astral Plane and assassinating her, not an easy task because she's a cr 26 lich queen, who's very well protected.

Essentially I'm creating this thread, to see if anyone has read Incursion and has ideas for cool thign to do to Khorvaire. Don't worry about privacy. Only one of my players reads message boards and its very infrequent, and he's a fellow DM and if he sees posts by me he doesn't read them.

So on to the campaign. I am trying to create alot of political intrigue. The idea behind Incursion is that before invading the Githyanki will send spies to instigate instabilities within the different nations of Khorvaire. So far they have been causing rising issues between Thrane and Karnath. The Pcs are in Sharn at the beginnign and they unwittingly play an instrument role in Breland's downfall.

I rewrote Forgotten Forge (1st level adventure from eberron campaign setting), the idea is that the Githyanki go to Lhesh Harruc and tell him that if he gives them some low level soldiers they can help him achieve greater power. Then a Githyanki Sorceress posing as Lady elaydren D'Cannith tells the Pcs that she wants them to uncover an ancient crown that is an old house cannith heirloom from the depths of sharn. They go and retrieve it meetign soem warforged along the way( these are just mercenaries, that the gith hired to pose as lord of blade's thugs). The final fight however is with a minion of Lhesh Haruuc, who is wearing specially designed fullplate designed to make him look like a warforged at first glance. Upon close inspection after killing the pcs are very confused to learn that a Hobgoblin dressed as a warforged wanted the item so badly. They deliver it to the Lady and they get paid The end?

To explain further. I'm trying to set up The Hobgoblin nation of Darguun to attack breland. to do this I have the Githyanki using the pcs for their dirty work send them to recover an ancient crown that will prove to all of the monsters (goblinoids mainly) that Lhesh Harruuc is heir to the throne of an ancient nation that covered Darguun, Breland, Zilargo and soem of Drooam. This will cause many more monstrous followers to come to his aid. the githyanki will then convince him to overtake Zilargo, then attack breland, hoping this will draw Breland into war. later in the campaign when the Githyanki attack from the edges of the mournland, they want all the surrounding nations weakened severely.

Things I could use help with. Anyoen who has insights into weakening Thrane, Kharnath, or any other nation. Anyone who has adventure ideas, Ideas for nasty githyanki, or not Githyanki bad guys. Any sick DMs who've ever wanted to help destroy a campaign setting should apply. *Please note that i thoroughly enjoy Eberron, I only wish to harm it for the fun of the game. I also think that in a campaign like this, so much is going to be at stake, that it will really draw the best out of my players.*

So i'll post more later, but please any help is appreciated. Even anyone who just ahs questions or commments is appreciated too. Hope to hear from you all.

The Incursion has come up before, but you seem to have a good concept. Sounds pretty good.

Behold the power of the Search function. Don't feel bad, these people didn't know about it either:

hey guys,

Just thought i'd clue you in to my players.

Right now, We have three players. More might Join later. They are...

Gabe, who is playing Garret ,an eccentric halfling rogue. Interesting, to mix up the traditional rogue concept, he wields two small Kukris that he has a strange obsession with and has named Clyde and Winona. He's lawful good, think defender of the streets, and can be as sly and devious as he is good hearted. A Funny thing to add is his worst score is Charisma and he's usually pretty scruffy.

Mike, who is playing Phaux, a human Swashbuckler, who's wit is as cutting as his cutlass. He's a bit of a satyrist, and his womanizing causes trouble with the party's third member. However, when it comes down to business he never back down from a fight.

Julie, who is playing Amaryllis, a halfling Sorceress, who's well uh very pretty and proper. As of the first adventure she hadn't gotten use to danger quite yet. She also hasn't gotten quite use to her womanizing human friend, and her dirty lil Halfling friend. She did however take out soem baddies with magic Missile and some other spells. She was just as surprised as the rest of us at the damage her pretty lights did to the bad guys. (Julie is an amazing player, she totally plays out the role of this sassy, scared, mislead halfling, evn though she is a very knowledgable D&D player, it makes the game quite fun)

Since our party is quite small right now (pun intended), I've been playing NPC/PC named Valin. Valin is a human Paladin. He worships Syberis, and believes that the Great Dragon, calls upon certain champions in great times of need to protect te world. Valin believes he is one of these Champions for he gets visions. (nothing more than campaign hooks) He found this ragtag group of adventurers, and one of his favorite quotes is "These are your champions... really? Ok Ok i trust ya!" In our games we treat the idea of Syberis as a more powerful (in terms of Divine Rank) Bahamut, and Khyber as a more powerful Tiamat. Valin will eventually become a Vassal of Bahamut (Prestige Class from Book of Exalted Deeds) although in his case Vassal of Syberis.

Since our party is pretty stealthy, (two halflings, one a rogue, one a sorceror, who likes illusion and enchantment, and a swashbuckler, who likes the dread pirate prestige class), i was thinking of taking the campaign into a sorta stealthy route. In Incursion the GithYanki use flying war ships. I was thinking at some point the group could take over a ship and using disguise and illusions, pose as part of the Githyanki force, soemthign liek that. Oh well just more ideas, I have some time to flesh this all out. Hopefully, i'll be getting lots of help too.

I've read some of the stuff Gurv sent me and figured I;'d try to answer somequestions ahead of time, so that it helps everyoen who tries to help me out.

i'm planning on making the Githyanki very alien. If any of you have read the star wars New Jedi order books, imagien the Githyanki as Yuuzhan Vong. The Githyanki are going to be a lost militaryrace, who's home was destroyed they've been exiled in the astral plane until they found a way into Eberron. Seeing as they are Alien this gives more room to play.

Obviously, the Dragons wouldn't normally accept them as riders or allies. However, my strange Githyanki allies carry ancient otherworldly items that carry some power linked to the item their queen has. This gives them a limited mind control over reds. Almost imagine it as the item makes the particular red dragon more savage and less intelligent, which allows the wearer to control its emotions better. As long as it protects the red and gives it plenty of food, it stays docile.

Obviously, other dragons would be very angered at this. The Dragons will play a big part, but with all the dragons being so scheming and generally so off hands with Khorvarian affairs, the ways they play their parts will differ. The Githyanki will also be employing some of the most evil, vile dragons to help them stop any draconic interlopers.

The Githyanki will have been preparing for this invasion for many years. They will destabilize many of Khorvaire's nations. they will make a pact with the Quori to split up Eberron with them if they aid the Githyanki.

Yes, Eberron is a very difficult world to play out Incursion in, thats why I'm ehre asking for help. However, with Eberron's action movie style. Incursion helps me create a Sci-Fi feel. Imagine the possibilities.

I wouldn't say Eberron is difficult to play out Incursion, I mean look at the all various extraplanar invasions they've had in the past. Actually right now would be a unique opportunity for the Gith to invade Khovaire, the end of a long debilihitating war, the creation of Mournland cutting the continent in two, etc, etc. The main issue is what the other powers that be, the dragons and the Quori in particular, would do about it. Either than or running the incursion in either Sarlona or Xen'drik would work. The dragons probably wouldn't get upset at that.

You might want to consider the relationship, if any, between the Githyanki and the Githzerai on Kythri.

Yeah the more i read, the less difficult it seems. Its just a lot of work. Thats all i meant. It definitely seems worth it though. I'll look into what you mentioned.

I really wannna see if at any point anyone comes up with any particular Eberron Githyanki monsters. I might even go with having the Giths attach some sort of Daelkyr-esque symbiote to the dragons to control them. This will probably change the dragon's appearance and alter its stats a little. Its interesting when you can change something's appearance,a nd the players get all scared like "what is that?" later you can explain it was just a dragon, or was it?

Anyway thanks for the help.
