A thread where you get to share rumors, slanders, base lies, and other things to throw at the various powers that are conflicting themselves in the setting! Share all the scurrilous works that you can think of in order to turn people for or against a group in the world!

1. Anti-Thrane

Pontiff Jaela is portrayed in many quarters as being a puppet for the Cardinals and her story of being "chosen" as nothing more than opiate for the masses as they require to keep an innocent seeming girl on the Throne to keep any one Cardinal from being a focus for unpopular decisions.

2. Anti-Thrane

The statement that the will of the Kingdom to the church was in fact forged by the King's father confessor even as it was actually done as part of a military coup lead by Generals tired of the Royal Family whom were very richly rewarded with confiscated noble estates.

3. Anti-Thrane

The Lycanthrope Crusade was actually a witch hunt to kill followers of the Sovereign Host in the lands that it touched and arouse the superstitious peasantry in a fervor of bloodlust to distract from the Church's own corruption.

4. Anti-Thrane

The Silver Flame is actually little more than a gas based phenomenon with the actual magic of the Silver Flame being created by manipulation of magic. It's a false religion like Vol worship.

5. Anti-Shifter

Shifters still hunger for human flesh despite being "half-breeds" and go on routine hunts during Full Moons to murder unfortunates for the purposes of cannibalistic feasts. Don't trust the shifter butcher.

6. Anti-Valener

The Elves of Valenar killed tens of thousands of refugees from Cyre coming into their homelands for sport. This heinous tragedy killed nearly a third of the Cyrean people that would have found welcome refuge in the arms of their holding's cousins.

7. Anti-Cyrean

The Cyreans were working on a bomb that destroyed their own country. The weapon was going to be used against the other Four Nations and some are continuing research.

8. Anti-Karrnath

In order to amuse their guards, Karrnath soldiers keep huge camps of young women carried off along with their daughters as prisoners. Because they weren't military prisoners, thousands of women still live in their horrible camps as pleasure slaves.

10. Anti-Karrnath

King Kaius hates nonhumans more than anything else and has them brought up on the least of charges whenever possible. Any lone travellers or small groups are often set upon by Karrnath guards to be impaled. Other times, they're enslaved and used to rebuild the country or as part of ghastly experiments by his Secret Police.

11. Anti-Kalashtar

The Adar use their foul foreign magic to will anyone who crosses them dead and read the thoughts of others in order to use their secrets against them. They have even been known to enslave men who displease them.

12. Anti-Kalashtar

Kalashtar consider other races less than vermin, which is why they keep to themselves so much. Any man whom attempts to sleep with one of their daughters or court her is violently beaten or even killed.

13. Anti-Kalashtar

Kalashtar are Dragon Below cultists and interbreed with demons along with Aerenal. That is why they have such a freaky appearance.

14. Anti-Breland

The dispossesed mob is barely controlled in Breland with the country on the verge of Revolution. Routine riots rack their cities and crime is utterly unchecked.

15. Anti-Breland

King Boranal is mad and incestuously abusing his children along with the Karrnath princess. He's actually controlled by the Parliament advisors whom sold Dargunn, Zilargo, and Droam to the nonhumans that they intend to bring over to rule them.

16. Anti-Dwarf

They buy human women for their amusement because of their own wives being so repulsive to them.

17. Anti-Dwarf

The Dwarves are living fat off the Last War and using their positions to influence policy to continue bleeding the people of their funds.

18. Pro-Thrane

The Silver Flame has blessed the Pontiff with a vision that the Next War will be won within ten years against all of the enemy nations. Furthermore, that divine blessings will overcome their advantages.

19. Anti-Warforged

They aren't really sentient but golems programmed to act so as spies of House Cannith.

20. Anti-Warforged

The Souls of Dead Soldiers were bound by them into suits of armor to create warforged.

21. Anti Eldeen Reaches:

During the rebellion from Aundair, loyalists were burned in wicker men as sacrifices to Olian, a practice which continues to this day (hence the raids on the border).

22. Anti goblinoid: the city goblins are organized in masonic-style lodges to serve as fifth columnists for Darguun.

23. Anti Karranth: not satisfied with using the corpses of enemy civillians to stock their zombie armies, Karranth has begun a large scale harvesting operation in the mournland. Soon the entire nation of cyre will be a shambling soldier for Kaius' greater glory.

24. anti-dragonmarked: The last war was extended by the dragonmarked houses, who intended to weaken the monarchies in preparation for using Deneith mercenaries to sieze control everywhere. Is it coincidence that the hobgoblins and valenar both turned on Cyre? I think not!

25. anti changelings: in order to maintain their shapeshifting ability, changelings have to steal and devour the skins of humans.

26. Anti-Aerenal

The deathless of Aerenal are actually really powerful undead and even tho those untrustworthy elves say otherwise they are powered by negative energy

22. Anti goblinoid: the city goblins are organized in masonic-style lodges to serve as fifth columnists for Darguun.

That is a blatant lie. Those communities in your cities are following the Dhakaani teachings that say one goblin is weak but hundreds are strong. We struggle daily with our baser natures but as a community we are able to overcome these and create a society that is more peaceful and better able to flourish in the shadow of the greater good. Our clans reappearing in your cities are not some devious "fifth column", they are goblinoids loyal to their homes and kings that understand that the teachings of the great Dhakaan make them more valuable to you as productive members of society. It is a baseless accusation by the uninformed that we, the children of the great Dhakaan would bear some form of ill will towards the governments of our homes in some hare-brained empire-building scheme. It is a philosophy that teaches us to overcome the negative stereotypes of our kind and by that, live fuller and richer lives.

23. Anti-Goblin

Dhakaani is just a myth.

Yes, the Dhakaani never existed, their empire is just a hoax, don't believe a word of that rubbish the university people keep trying to shove down your throat about them. and pay no attention at all to the goblins unifying in the cities of Khorvaire, that's just a social club, nothing more.

24. Anti Goblin Joke

How can you tell Goblins are unifying? They all fall down drunk at the same time ;-)

28 (wow, only 3 posts to get the numbering wrong. That beats the FF's record ;) ) Anti-Gatekeeper:

The Gatekeepers are not the saviors they claim to be. What other reason whould they devote themselves to 'sealing' off Xoriat for thousands of years if not for their own benefit? Those filthy Orcs are breeding those abberant horrors!

29 Anti-Aundair:

Those cheese-eating surrender monkeys just have to be up to something. It's just not natural to have a Royal Ministry for the Distribution of White Flags!

:D

30 Anti-Q'barra:

Those traitorous swine ran and hid while my parents fought and died to defend their home from the invading hordes. Good riddance I say! Their Lizardmen friends are too good for them!

I like this thread...it is a good idea.

34: (I think) Anti-Thrane: Those Flamers already have their next crusade planned out I hear....it is going to be(insert whatever group you want. though Warforged or Changelings would be the best though mmm...goblins would be fun to.)

35: Anti-Thran:I heard that their big secret is that there really is a demon in that flame...

36: Anti-Gobliniod: The gob;ins are going to try rise up again and establish their 'empire' again. We should...

37: Anti-anyone: (Insert country, group, or race) are the ones who destroyed Crye. And there going to do it to(insert whereever you current location is)

38: Pro-Goblin: We should let the gobliiods take over. They ran a great Empire for thousands of years.

At heart, the best of these are those that COULD be true or true of certain groups. Eberron is unlike most worlds in these rumors, smear campaigns, and ideas are simultaneously possible along with certain people interested in starting them.

39. Anti-Karranth: the Order of the Emerald Claw isn't really renegade, they were just made to look so for the sake of plausible deniability.

40. If using Red Hand of Doom in New Cyre:
a) Brelish reinforcements never arrived because Prince Ogarev didn't really send a request, he wanted to handle it in house to boost his own prestige.

b) Brelish reinforcements never arrived because House Sivis took bribes from the hobgoblins not to relay the messages.

c) Brelish reinforcements never arrived because Boranel wanted the hobgoblins to take care of New Cyre before Ogarev got any ideas about seceding.

d) Brelish reinforcemetns never arrived because the Brelish high command never passed the reports on to Boranel: they wanted New Cyre massacared to provide a pretext for a major war against Darguun.

41. anti house sivis: House Sivis records every message they are asked to transmit and will sell the information to the highest bidder/use it to blackmail people.

Sadly, given the nature of The Trust, I'd wager that rumor was true.

42. Anti-Lhazaar Principalities (possible tie-in to an Eberron based Savage Tide campaign).

The rumors of the schism in the pirate leadership are false. They're all actually working together to fill their war chests in an eventual bid to monopolize the water tradelanes of Eastern Khorvaire, possibly coming into conflict with the Brelish Navy and even House Lyrandar.

43. Anti-Lhazaar Principalities (pt. 2)

The unification of the pirate leadership has been primarily instrumented by an excoriated House Lyrandar scion who bears a grudge against his former house.

Someone want to do up some characters for Propagandists in Eberron?

At least one of them as got to be a gnome. Its just too much to resist. And yes, we all saw it... but I imagine I'm not the only one who actively ignored it.

Anti-gnome propoganda 'character': a gnome, hunched over, with a nasty squint and frantically writing in a notebook.

He knows when you are sleeping, he knows when you're awake...

Brelish propoganda would tend to figure King Boranel prominently, as he has considerable personal popularity in addition to being king. Conversely particularly repulsive caricatures of ogres and hobgoblins would also be common on recruiting posters, as Darguun and Droam are problem neighbors.

I am sorry... :( it was meant to be just a joke :) ....hey atleast you always have goblins....:D

Atleast the drow are cool again and you can even play one that isn't a Drizzt clone.

Oh
45.Pro-Drow: Atleast they not like that self-rightous prick from the FR...and weild those wimpy scimitars.

Here's an example character for what I mean.

Cordellia Cane
Human Female Aristocrat 2/Propagandist 10*

Cordellia Cane is Minister of Public Morale in the nation of Karrnath. The young secretary to King Kaius was hopelessly charmed by him and instructed to begin turning the people against their time honored institutions. She was charged with blackening the name of the Blood of Vol, enflaming the masses against the Emerald Claw, turning people against the Last War, and increasing loyalty to King Kaius.

Cordellia Cane proceeded then to create the Ministry of Morale that is a rapidly growing institution that no longer is a mere part of the Dark Cabinet. Agents are selected from the ranks of the common soldiery and recruited through agents choices on the basis of speaking ability, literacy, and good looks. They are then fanatically drilled in order to have unwavering loyalty to the state and its belief structures. They are also watched horribly and censored in order to better make sure that they fit within the public consensus.

The Ministry of Public Morale's chief tactics are scapegoating, slander, and libel. The Emerald Claw, evil organization that it is, found itself framed for everything from cannibalism to child sacrifice in the pursuit of their name being blackened. Prominent supporters of it were accused of pedestry and other offenses that were effective less because they were true than they were repeated often enough. They have been less effective at destroying the Blood of Vol as a whole but it is in large part because of the constant undercutting of the religion from the Ministry that so many people no longer look at it with the same national pride as they used to.

Cordellia's handling of the Last War has been primarily to blame the conflict on "traitors" within the state whom prevented King Kaius from properly waging the war. Laying the blame for the war's failure on the officer core and warlords has resulted in a great deal of the hereditary aristocracy being forced on the defensive even as it also has given Kaius the occasional excuse to purge certain members of it. She isn't beneath playing the class card as she has occasionally rumbled the masses against the elite except for the King that loves them.

The Ministry has placed King Kaius' face everywhere that it can. On the coinage of Karrnath, on the sides of buildings, in mass produced prints that are hung everywhere possible. King Kaius impersonators from the ranks of the wizards have gone through the villages kissing babies, curing crops, and attending constant state functions to raise the view of the people for him. The fact that Cordellia's mind is broken and she genuinely believes Kaius is a god helps her attempt to foster a cult of personality around him.

* Propagandists are Bards except they do not get "counter spell" but instead gain the ability to use writing to influence reactions. They also use speech instead of music to influence reactions.
