I'm looking for feedback regarding my idea of applying certain things from the game "Skies of Arcadia" for the dreamcast and the gamecube to an Eberron campaign. For those of you who haven't played the game, it's basically the player going around the world of Arcadia (in an airship) during an exploration period in that particular world's history.

Here are some of the things that I think might work out in an Eberron campaign that are related to that game. Feedback from anyone would be much appreciated.

-Different Airship designs based on culture

One of the things I noticed about the game was that each of the different cultures that the main characters come into contact with during the course of the game have different airship designs. Due to the variety of different cultures in the world of Eberron, I think that this could provide some much-needed flavor to the generic airship. For example, maybe a Seren tribe would use an airship with a Living Figurehead (http://www.wizards.com/dnd/images/storm_gallery/90744.jpg) on the front of their ships shaped like a dragon's head (just like in the picture), while a tribe of Sahuagin who got their hands on an airship would make it look menacing by having barbed sails in the same design as their ears and fins (or whatever those spiky membranes that are shown in the EH picture are). Though neither of them know how to bind elementals to shards (which is required for an airship), I wouldn't imagine that it would be that tough for a tribe of Sahuagin to kidnap a Zil gnome while he was on his way to Xen'drik or something like that.

-Different Airship designs based on function

In SoA, there were also different ship designs based on the function that the ship was intended to perform (there's a picture of some different designs linked to below). While there are things such as these presented in the Explorer's Handbook (Wind Galleons and Stormships come to mind) the functions were rather basic and uninteresting. A warship, to me, would be a lot more interesting with a massive ballista mounted on the front made to rip through the hulls of other enemy ships (kind of like the blue one on the left in the picture). Another ship is designed with heavy armor and a reinforced hull in the front made to ram into other ships and take them out of the sky (the orange one in the front, next to the blue one). Yet another ship is completely customizable, with different parts that could be attached to it (the green one in the back right corner). I think all of these functions could be worked into an Eberron campaign well enough.

-Monsters controlled the Lords of Dust

There are no Lords of Dust in SoA, but the gigas monsters in the game would've been worthy opposition for the dragons during the age of demons and would've been good targets for the procedure that the dragons had of binding the creatures to Khyber. When the seal of Haka'torvhak is broken in your game having the creature linked to below pop out would give the PCs a very good idea of the power of the fiends. Either the gigas would be epic one-of-a-kind monsters, or they'd be the massive creations of the daelkyr.

I loved the game, and i once ran an adventure on the world of SoA and it was really fun, but i don't see SoA in eberron, the only thing they got in common is the airships, and frankly, FF6 has a lot more in common in that way
