| Restless11-17-04, 08:41 PM | Okay, so the Sharn Soundtrack is getting mixed reviews. I personally like it, but that's just me. However, it got me to wondering, what does everyone else like to use for BGM in their games. Or what do you think a good idea would be? I personally have been using Final Fantasy music, and yes, Eberron's not FF, but the music works well. Especially the character themes. Also, of course, LOTR music it the obvious choice. A two good songs I've used for big, dramatic encounters are Megalith -Rgus Die- from Ace Combat 4 and also No-W, by the Ministry. |
| Macona11-18-04, 07:32 AM | My games are far too jokey to put serious music to. Once I treid putting the background music from Quake. It fell flat. |
| Ezrael11-18-04, 07:54 AM | Haven't gotten a chance to run Eberron yet, but if I do, I actually have a brace of background music from another game I'd probably use: The Batman Beyond opening title theme: I know it's techno and moreover the background music from a cartoon, but it really works for me and is a nice "Here comes the beatdown" song. Stamina Rose from Ghost in the Shell: nice mix of orchestral and vocal sound with a rather driving beat. Teahouse from The Matrix Reloaded Various music from Jeremy Soule, especially off the Icewind Dale soundtrack. I just dig that whole collection. I also like using songs off Planescape:Torment, although I forget who composed that. Gustav Holst. More or less the whole Planets will show up sooner or later. |
| Save-vs-DM11-18-04, 08:24 AM | I use the Temple of Elemental Evil soundtrak from the game (they put it in mp3 format, which was nice). The Dungeons and Dragons cd from Midnight Syndicate A CD from Chris Merrit called Sojourn And the Sharn soundtrack. I also use Dead Can Dance on occasion. For barrom scenes I use Blackmores Night. For general stuff or combats I'll use the Cowboy Bebop soundtrack. Cheers, SvD |
| BuddyL3311-18-04, 10:02 AM | When I used to use CD's to play background music I liked Black Aria by Glen Danzig. It's all instrumental and quite good. Now I just use the Neverwinter Nights DM Toolset to create background music and sounds. |
| shadowpavement11-18-04, 10:04 AM | I always start each session with the Hitman: Contracts soundtrack. It really gets me in the mood. I also like to use the Halo soundtrack as well with a mixture of Dead Can Dance, and some slower tempo trance and electronica. |
| Killer GM11-18-04, 02:33 PM | You might want to check out Bond (http://www.bond-music.com). They're a all-woman quartet that does instrumental, classical-style music. Very evocative. |

| Restless11-19-04, 12:42 AM | This evening, during the session one of the characters got dominiated by a vampire and while the other members of the party where away, killed another PC. We were listening to the Sharn soundtrack, and it worked so well, when the other two PCs returned to see a silent monk, fists splattered with gore, and the other PC missing. I won't soon forget my PCs,'7...are you okay? What's going on 7, talk to us.'. All the while to that track with the creepy heavy breathing. The soundtrack has thourghly impressed me. |
