| Mayor_McFunkenstein01-24-07, 12:27 AM | Hey all, I don't know if there is another thread about this but people were talking about using the CD provided in the Sharn book during their campaign sessions and it got me wondering what kind of music people like to listen to while they're playing Eberron (if they listen to music during game sessions). My campaigns are usually pretty dark and sinister, so I generally like to play some mellow, slow and chill music with as few lyrics as possible. My favorites right now are Godspeed You Black Emperor!, Set Fire to Flames, and Sigur Ros. How about everyone else? |

Check the reviews on Amazon before you buy however, or check out www.soundtrack.net for reviews and sound clips. |
| SquirrelMortis02-02-07, 01:33 PM | James Bond music... period. Also PoTC music and Poirot music are both good for different scenarios. |

| Alex_02-02-07, 02:12 PM | I've been using the new Battlestar Galactica series soundtracks. It's got a very multi-cultural/ethnic feel that I think works well with Khorvaire. One song will be sung in Galaeic, the next in Sanskrit, and another in Latin. One piece will open with Japanese taiko drums, and then in the same piece, you'll have Irish bagpipes, and later on a duduk (more common in Turkey/Iran/Eastern Europe). |
| Archangel6202-02-07, 02:38 PM | Well, in combat Hammerfall. |
| Amaril02-02-07, 02:51 PM | I'm pretty critical about the music I use in my games. In fact, I actually create playlists composed of specific tracks for specific moods rather than just play albums entirely. In any case, here's a sample of the type of music I use in my Eberron games. Movies The Mummy The Mummy Returns Van Helsing Video Games Giants: Citizen Kabuto Planescape: Torment When I ran Greyhawk, I used a similar list, but I included tracks from the following. Movies The 13th Warrior Video Games Baldur's Gate Baldur's Gate II Icewind Dale Neverwinter Nights Rune As a side note, I can't stand Midnight Syndicate. It sounds too much like MIDI music, which is probably because it is. |
| Arcane Guyver02-02-07, 04:11 PM | Sometimes it doesn't exactly fit the action, but Conan the Barbarian has become like the official D&D soundtrack with my group, the most often requested and played. Otherwise, I throw in various anime and movie soundtracks. Samurai Champloo has a number of really good background themes. Witch Hunter Robin and Noir too. The 'Earthsea' soundtrack is really good for Argonnessen, in particular. |
| herogoeth02-03-07, 02:39 PM | The Arcanum game soundtrack is absolutely great, a very mellow string quartet. The one I would recommend most is The Advent Rising Game Soundtrack. That can set the pace for any great game. |
| TeediousPrime02-05-07, 11:57 AM | I find that the soundtrack music from Metroid Prime is exceedingly useful. |
| Soulkeeper02-05-07, 12:40 PM | I don't want to derail this too far, but based on the OP's questions, I'm curious....do you use the Eberron CD? I use much of what others have mentioned, such as 13th Warrior, Pirates, Braveheart and those things, but personally I found the CD in the Sharn book, little more useful than a coaster for ambiance. |

I don't use it during a game session, but I do enjoy listening to it for ambiance while reading up on Eberron or while prepping for my next Eberron game session. I find it helps to invoke a feeling of certain elements of Eberron such as the Lord of Blades in the Mournland, going on an expedition into Xen'Drik, flying on a skycoach between the towers of Sharn, exploring the depths below the City of Towers, etc. |
| MasterMalaki02-05-07, 11:23 PM | I use the Eberron CD - its excellent! Also, I like using a lot of classical and celtic music. |
| From_Khyber02-07-07, 06:31 PM | Midnight Syndicate's "Official D&D Sountrack" has become my absolute favorite Eberron soundtrack. The music can mainly be portaited as "classic cinematic ambience", containing high levels of atmospheric soundscapes and fantasy-oriented hymns, which are perfectly eligible for an Eberron campaign. I might even go as for as inclining this to be the best-suited Eberron cd (even though it's not an official Eberron supplement) out there, but that's just my humble opinion, of course. I reccommend it warmly, nevertheless. |
