06-19-04, 12:04 AM There are some very interesting images that we haven't seen before.

Indicates that it is an eldeen ranger, when I think it should be a valenar horse as Horse, valenar places it in the proper alphabetical order.

I like the images of Qbarra, Xen'drik and the demon wastes.

Also its interesting to note that the monoliths being built in Sarlona are called Dreambinder Monuments.

Interesting....

BTW, thanks a lot for this! Its great to see some of the other artwork.

06-19-04, 08:34 AM Thats great! I cant wait to get my book now, just to see those images in perfect quality (stupid parcelforce delivering a day late when I'm not there...)
Anyway, I love the picture of the Creation Forge, it reminds me of the distinctive style of the Ancients in the Panzer Dragoon series...and that is a very good thing!

06-20-04, 03:17 AM I noticed quite a few pics that i don't recal seeing in the CSB, expecially among the creatures. I guess I'll just have to what for a the MM3 to see what a Dragonhawk and Tribex are capable of.

06-21-04, 10:14 AM That's a lot of pictures to not make it into the book! Hopefully, some will be reused (like the dragonhawk and tribex images) along with new game material. That Xen'drik Ruins image had better be in an upcoming Xen'drik book! Others aren't quite as strong or essential, and I can understand why they might have been cut. In general, though, very pretty stuff.

As far the art that made it in, I think it was mostly excellent. Some had the "Photoshop sheen," which can be kind of tacky, but those were mostly limited to the first couple of chapters. It was neat to see Sam Wood using a brighter, higher-contrast color palette, and the comic art was a cool approach to chapter intros.

My favorite images, though, were by two of the original concept artists: Steve Prescott and Mark Tedin. To me, their images remain the most archetypally "Eberron-ish," and I would have liked to have seen a bit more by them.

I would also LOVE to see more of the concept art that made it into Dragon. I don't know who to ask, so 'll keep the question rhetorical for now: will we ever get to see the concept art collected in one place?

(Though actually, if I was running the official Eberron site, I'd use that concept art to illustrate web enhancements!)

06-22-04, 12:15 AM I must echo Mr. O'Neal's sentiments about Steve Prescott and Mark Tedin's excellent concept work. I have the utmost respect for their beautiful illustrations.
While I've been a fan of Mr. Tedin's since the first round of magic illustrations, Steve Prescott seemed to transcend all his past work to create astounding original pieces. I had the pleasure of skimming through his Eberron sketchbook last year at Gencon and his drawings all deserve to be printed.

I hope there will one day be demand for a book of nothing but concept art, and I hope one day to show the pre-historic drawings/symbols and maps. In the meantime I'm waiting with as much patience as possible for the first book to appear!
