Count Nerindil Van Seraph 02-28-06, 11:39 AM	I was thinking how awesome it would be to have an Eberron movie (although it's not very likely, considering the utter crap that was D7D the movie). This got me to thinking about who I would cast as the major NPCs in Eberron. I don't have a lot of time so I will explain my choices later. Also, please post your ideas. The LOBster: The Rock/ That HUGE black guy who played the King Pin in Daredevil.(can never remember is name) King Boranel (Boranal?) of Breland: Shawn (Sean?) Connery. A big bad Inspired dude (main bad guy of the movie) Laurence(sp?) Fishburn Kaius: Hmm... If you don't mind him being black I would say Samuel L. Jackson. I don't know why, but for some reason I rally like him in that role. More later, The Count :dragon:

After eating Combo Lo Mein last night & watching the uncut version of Underworld for the eleventy billionth time, I came to the conclusion that if WoTC Pictures didn't ask Kevin Grevioux (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0340485/), aka. the werewolf, Raze, to be the voice of the Lord of Blades in an Eberron movie, I was going to boycott their film. Michael Clarke Duncan has a lot of menace in his voice as well. He'd be my second pick to be the LOBster's voice. The thing that horrifies me is having the Eberron movie heralded by the words, "A SciFi Pictures Original Movie." :noway: :gah: :doh: ;)

Johnny Depp could be anyone. Depp is a freaking Changeling, man. I know I'm likely going to get some flake for this one, but: Robin Williams as a Daelkyr. He plays a very nice "Unthreatening, deceptively dangerous psycho" like in 1 Hour Photo or that ... Pachino movie.

One of the members of my pending Eberron group saw this thread & sent me an e-mail about who I would like to play my PC in an Eberron movie. I think that Mark Dacascos has the exotic handsomeness & the right amount of physicality to play my PC, Jhiankhad (Kalashtar Soulknife). He said that Johnny Depp absolutely has to be cast as his as yet unnamed Changeling Rogue. I know I'm likely going to get some flake for this one, but: Robin Williams as a Daelkyr. The Riddler role was the deciding factor). The Pachino movie you're thinking of is Insomnia.
megamania 02-28-06, 03:09 PM	Much would depend on the type of movie you are doing. Eberron is a game world where anything goes. Something either with Cannith or Lyrandar would be best. Orien could be good also.

CW is very "plain" in that. I was thinking the same thing. Either Williams or Jim Carrey (ie. The Riddler role was the deciding factor). Another possibility is Mordain. Mordain could so be very plain, unassuming and normal LOOKING, meanwhile surrounded by all sorts of weird mutations and flesh golems and the like. Carrey would have to be very subdued to play that role. People who havn't been mentioned yet: Jaela. The LoD/Aurum/Chamber. James Earl Jones has to do the voice of a Chamber dragon. Also, William DaFoe has to do something. DaFoe is an awesome actor. Who? I don't know. Someone impressive and creepy and powerful.

My friends keep singing the praises of this film, so I will have to put it into my Netflix cue since you've also brought it up. After seeing Wild Side, Vendetta, and a couple other movies, I'm convinced CW is either a brilliant actor or genuinely insane. James Earl Jones has to do the voice of a Chamber dragon. I agree wholeheartedly. He must be signed at all costs. Also, William DaFoe has to do something. DaFoe is an awesome actor. Who? I don't know. Someone impressive and creepy and powerful. I think DaFoe was the guy I was thinking of when the word, "Daelkyr," was first mentioned. Ralph Fiennes -----> King Kaius Ack! That's a nice pick also. Perhaps Fiennes should play Kaius and Liam Neeson should play Merrix d'Cannith? I would not make a good casting agent. I wouldn't be able to pick one over another in certain situations..

Maybe he really is perfect for the role. No-one will have heard of her, but Lena Olin (sp?) would be perfect for the Queen of Aundair. If anyone saw it, she was the older woman in the Ninth Gate.

Ah, my Netflix brother. ;) I'm not too familiar with Fiennes. I've seen Constant Gardener and Avengers, but I still havn't got a "feel" for him. Liam is good. I could totally buy him as Merix or Kaius. Kevin Spacey could very well pull off Merix, or better yet - a Rakshasa. Laurence Fishburne? Total Kalasthar. Or Inspired.

(One Hour Photo: Creepier than any blood and gore horror movie.) Yes, Walkin could be any amount of cool people. I like him as Mordain. Mordain needs to be intimidating, all the time. Even when he is not trying to be. Walkin has "The Look". He would also be a great Merrix. I can just see the scene. The movie is coming to a climax, our heros have found his secret lair (or whatever) and are ready to settle this (whatever this is ) once and for all. They fling wide the doors. And there he stands, mid twirl, with an army of warforged following suit. "About time you showed up," he says with a evil grin. "It is a shame that you could not live to see the NEW Khoravare." With a flourish of his cloak he turns to the door behind him. "Kill them," he cooly intones. In unison, the warforged turn, assuming a hunched position and bring up their hands. They take a step forward. *Snap.* Step. *Snap* Okay, that was way too drawn out! Keep them coming! p.s. I started a thread that Hellcow posted on! :cloud9: Sorry.

Both of them carry themselves with such presence sometimes that it's easy to forget that they're just children. No-one will have heard of her, but Lena Olin (sp?) would be perfect for the Queen of Aundair. If anyone saw it, she was the older woman in the Ninth Gate. I have had a copy of Romeo Is Bleeding on VHS for quite some time & have been a fan of the FABULOUS legs of Mrs. Olin for quite a while. Any fans of Alias will remember her as Irina Derevko.

Daelkyr are described as being angelic in appearance... I think mostly of Nyarlathotep from Dream Quest of Unknown Kadath when I think of them. Beautiful, perfectly beautiful, eloquant, and noble... but with minds so far beyond humanity that it is impossible for us to comprehend. Williams could do an excellent changeling, however. ... Actually, besides being THE Changeling, Johnny Depp could also make an -excellent- Daelkyr. He has both the angelic appearance and the acting ability to pull it off. William DaFoe played Green Goblin in Spiderman, or am I thinking of someone else? He could work as well (though he's not "pretty" per se)

However, I know him from his performance in Shadow of the Vampire (a movie I can't recommend enough if you want to see a vampire movie that's less about RAR and slash, and more about story and style).

Cate Blanchett = Queen Aurala I doubt she'd be too keen on taking a role like this after playing Galadriel, but I'd watch an eight-hour long movie of her reading from the phone book if someone filmed it. *swoon* Willem DaFoe = Merrix d'Cannith simply an amazing actor, he's got juuuust the right amount of crazy mixed in! He's aces in my book for his role in Boondock Saints alone - Last Temptation of Christ and Platoon are just the icing on the cake. If Rachel Weisz was passable as a redhead, I'd suggest her for Lei, but I don't think I'd want to change one damn thing about her. Ever. Ever ever ever. Terry O'Quinn (John Locke from ABC's "Lost") should be worked in there somewhere - that dude amazes and scares the hell out of me all at once. Krozen would be too one-dimensional for him, and I've already got DaFoe slotted as Merrix - I wonder how Kaius III would work as a bald dude? Maybe it's just the eyepatch talking, and my memories of seeing Splash when I was seven or eight, but after seeing Darryl Hannah in Kill Bill, I think she'd make a great Greykell ir'Ryc. That's all I've got at the moment, although admittedly, I mostly just wanted to make a joke at Costner's expense. :)

Many people have trouble with the daelkyr because they look human; in my eyes, the issue is that they are TOO beautiful, that physical perfection combined with an utterly alien mind can be just as disturbing as tentacles and slime (especially when it's surrounded BY tentacles and slime). Of course, this doesn't answer the question of why they appear human instead of as any of the other humanoid races. I'm fine with folks who want to say that humanoids will always see daelkyr as perfect members of their own species... but on the other hand, I also like the idea that for whatever reason the daelkyr DO appear to be human, something that caused great alarm when humans came to Khorvaire. Why is this? Are the daelkyr somehow conjured by human minds? Are they humans from the distant future, horrifically corrupted by terrible events yet to come? Ascended humans from the distant past? To me, any one of these could open up interesting possibilities.

I'd never thought about it from that angle before o.O I guess it is very odd that "crazy alien beings from BEYOND SPACE" would appear human. The reason why Daelkyr are one of my (many) favourite aspects of Eberron is becuase they are a new twist on the Abberations. I already pointed out their similarity to Nyarlathotep, but they also remind me of the Tzimitze (spelling?) from World of Darkness... there are Tzimitze who look really freaking weird, but there are also those with apperance 8 (average apperance is 2, and the most beautiful humanly possible is 5) In Eberron, apperances can be decieving, the smile of a friendly stranger can conceal the darkest horrors... beauty is, after all, only skin deep. But I'd never really thought about how odd it was that creatures with totally inhuman minds would appear, in their natural forms, to be human. It is a good question: why humans? Why not elves or goblins or something? The Daelkyr would seem to have enough magical power to appear - and actually become - anything they liked. Furthermore, they obviously seem to think that weird twisted abominations are "really damn cool" (well, and they ARE!) but with that attitude why don't they appear as weird, twisted abominations? I don't know about humans from a distant future - I hate time travel >.< - but now I'm at least thinking about it. Nice job, Hellcow, now I'll never get my philosophy homework done ;) (maybe they're the last humans from an alternate material plane, ones that looked too far into the darkness... perhaps ones that made deals with the Elder Evils / Great Old Ones, and became twisted and powerful beyond words.) ... ranger of the north 03-01-06, 11:46 AM	I vote for Tony Jay for the super evil dude voice. Even if you don't have him as the body, you could pull a Darth Vader, and have someone else be the body, and have him as the voice. If'n you don't know who he is, well, you can google him, and find him in the IMDB. Also, he's the voice of the Transcendent One in the game Planescape: Torment, if that helps. I personally think that you could, in fact, use the Rock for the body, or someone similar, of the LoBster, but Tony Jay would just rock(hah, pun) as the voice. Heck, if he didn't go anywhere else, he could narrate, and still rock(pun again!)! :D

After seeing him in the Justice League cartoon as the fanitcal religious leader Despero, no other voice comes to mind. Also, Ron Perlman has to have be in it. It is my experiance that any movie is made juat a little bit better just by the mans presance.

collinf 03-02-06, 12:18 PM	I am seeing a lot of mention of actors for characters in Eberron, but no script! What's the story? Maybe King Kaius doesn't even figure into it. I liked the suggestions from Mr. Hellcow and also have very much enjoyed KB's second book, The Shattered Land. I went to your website and saw the winners and runners up. Below were my thoughts as I read this thread. It looks like they came close to what other people were thinking. I like Michael Clarke Duncan for Pierce. Other options would be the Rock (not really a good choice), Ron Perlman, Adam Baldwin, or Vin Diesel. For Lei, I really like the Kate Beckinsale idea. Other choices might be Kate Winslett, Kate Hudson (hmmm, I see a pattern here). For Daine, Pierce Brosnan comes to mind for some reason. Other choices might be Eric Bana, Nathan Fillion, or Jason Statham. Jode poses some issues, but Ed Gale is probably the easiest choice there. I noticed Kevin Spacey was listed for the part of Jode on KB's website. I was thinking of him for roguish Xen'drik character of Gerrion (sp?), or possibly Edward Norton. -Collin :cool:
