| Rimbaldi02-24-06, 10:17 PM | ok... I put this here so people may post there ideas on what is going on in the Creative Departments magnificent collective brain... Observations I have made: You guys are into Numerology and repitition. 12 types of Dragons, 12 moons, 12 planes of exsistance, 12 dragonmarks, 12 gods in the pantheon. +1 hidden moon (could be heresay), +1 dead dragonmark (Death), +1 dark religion (Vol), +1 light religion (Flame). My Theory: The so called Gods are actualy ideas perpetrated by the immortals of Eberron, i.e. Dragons, Demons, the Daelkyr, meant to keep the lesser races in line, more or less, to bring about the prophecy in an orderly fashion. Variables: 6 Daelkyr... The Dark Six... Where do the Lords of Dust fit in? They are Demons, but so are the Quori, and a Dealkyr could take on a Rakshasa any day. Perhaps the Lords of Dusts masters are just The Daelkyr trapped in Khyber, and the Dark Six are their personas idolized by the Lords of Dust to oppose the benevolent Dragons Sovereign Host? After all, the Dragons are native to Eberron whereas the Daelkyr are not. Perhaps the next War of Demons and Dragons will be fought with the lesser races as soldiers, who are to beleive they are fighting for the gods themselves... How far off from the truth would that be if this is the case? But best of all... think of the campaign that could be run if this is true. The PC's climb their way up the political ladder, learning more about the history of Eberron as they go. I could use every book on the shelf. The Draconomicon, Heroes of Battle, Heroes of Horror (my fav), the Book of Vile Darkness, the Book of Exalted Deeds...just to name a few. It is truly epic. I might just run that game even if a supplement comes out to tell me Im wrong about all of this... |
| Rechan02-24-06, 10:23 PM | Actually, it's 12 gods in the Pantheon and 1 missing (The Overthrown, detailed in PGtE). |
| Rimbaldi02-24-06, 10:31 PM | Cool! That fits with the Dragonmarks. There being one "overthrown" Dragonmark and all. (the mark of death was wiped out) |
| Archangel6202-25-06, 02:30 AM | Wait a minute...actually there is also a moon missing....one that was said to drive the shifters into madness and destruction... I do believe that you may well be onto something. This leads to something I saw in the 'Sharn Inquisitor' section. It mentions how there was similarity with the church of the silver flame and an ancient religion in Xen'Drik...could this mean that this battle is eternal, a battle between the three draconic brothers that will last for all of eternity, each generation creating spawn and soldiers to battle until they send themselves to barbarism and a new generation rises? |
| BoneLord_of_Skullthrone02-25-06, 11:46 AM | Or until the dead gray mists cover all of Eberron.... |
| Rimbaldi02-25-06, 04:58 PM | I guess we'll never know... at least until they figure it out at headquarters and publish it, either in novel or sourcebook form. |
| Telagaunt02-25-06, 08:42 PM | Well the theme is 13 - 1 technically, not exactly 12. Just, there was once 13, something happens, and now there's 12. So with the Overthrown that goes with it too. Wait a minute...actually there is also a moon missing....one that was said to drive the shifters into madness and destruction... You mean the moon associated with the Mark of Death that long since spun out of orbit when the Mark was destroyed? |

Actually there are 9 gods in the Soverign Host + 6 in the Dark Six = 15 and there are 17 planes of existance Personally I think the Soverign Host was an offshoot sect of the Moonspeakers |

So with the Overthrown that goes with it too. You mean the moon associated with the Mark of Death that long since spun out of orbit when the Mark was destroyed? The moon, if it ever existed, disappeared ages before the Mark of Death. Even the giant empires of Xen'drik didn't account for it in their calendars, if I recall correctly. Also, that "Overthrown", from what I hear, is crap; the Dhakaani are supposed to be agnostic. Anyway, the key number (and the Sovereign Host don't fit the pattern, so don't bother trying) is 13-1: one plane out of thirteen permanently remote, one moon out of thirteen invisible, missing or fictitious, and one dragonmark out of thirteen eradicated. Someone on these boards once called it a Baker's Dozen, and I'm surprised that never caught on. |
| ImmortalBlueMage03-03-06, 01:47 AM | On Numerology and the Gods: Someone on the board here a while back (forgive me but I don't remember who) pointed out that the Sovereign Host actually do fit the 13-1 pattern if you account for the fact that the Dark Six were once a part of the Sovereign Host (the ECS describes them as outcasts from their fellow gods, suggesting that the two pantheons were formerely one). In the mythology of the Host there would have been a point prior to the creation of the Shadow and The Fury at which, presumably, the Devourer, Mockery, and Keeper were all part of the Soveriegn Host, with only the enigmatic Traveler disassociated from the other gods. That would add up to twelve dieties of the Host plus one independent diety, which neatly fits into the pattern. |

Well there's a whole thread on it, Numerology 13-something in one of the other Eberron sections, I forget which, which popped up before this thread. |
| igotsmeakabob!!03-03-06, 09:03 PM | I know everyone must know this but I'll throw it out anyway. Keith Baker. Baker's dozen. 13. thats all for now. |
