Eberron DM's Guide [Archive] - Wizards Community

09-19-04, 03:04 AM The campaign setting of eberron is that of a pulp noir / dark fantasy feel. We all know this. We've heard it a thousand times. However, the Eberron CS book all by it's lonesome is not enough to give your games that genre feel. The information in the book really does lend itself well to this kind of adventure and game play, but there doesn't seem to be too much information about how to actually achieve the pulp noir / dark fantasy adventures we've all come to enjoy so much.

I propose an Eberron DM's guide. A book chaulk full of info on how to give your game that pulp action feel. Have references to famous pulp stories and movies and show how to translate that into game terms. Sample adventures, interesting locations, a chapter on how to be less of a DM and more of a director.

Stop with the prestige classes and spells already. Show us how to effectively use the Thousands of Prestige classes we already have. Show us how to describe the situation with eberron in mind. Show us how to DM our favorite villans.

Eberron's entire concept is based on the way you run the game, so why not have more information on how to do it?

Somebody start working on this.

there a uncanny resourse for plunging you into the world!

furthermore: try to visualise parts of eberron ( for me, Sarn's railway station is the way to give me a eberron feel). think of a part of the world that gives you a vision of eberron that you like, an use it to create your world.
One thing you can do is listen to the sound tracks of the shar... it works :D

Nevertheless, I totally agree, but that's what the sourcebooks are for, me thinks ;) .
So don't worry, play happy :D

09-19-04, 04:19 AM I'm still trying to organize politcal channels and feelings b/w factions, i said I'd do that a while back. However, when I got really into I figured WoTC wouldn't want my info. posted b/c it put out a lot of it, enough to enfringe upon their rights I think. So I have to go back and dumb things down, plus finish up my own.

09-19-04, 12:45 PM I would recommend renting the Malteze Falchion, or better yet readying a book of noir genre. There are many good movies and authors out there, a short intorduction to noir can also be found on the web through several sites. I'll edit this post with a few later.
