| Edymnion07-01-05, 07:56 PM | Keith is starting up a new bi-monthly series of articles on how he would convert non-core D&D books (like Libris Mortis) into the Eberron Campaign Setting, and has expressed interest in seeing what we would like to see him do. And, since he mentioned starting a thread for it, I am :P Personally, I think the first one we need to have is the Expanded Psionics Handbook. Eberron is the first setting to really embrace Psionics in any major form, but doesn't really offer any way to introduce psionic material except through the Kalashtar. I know how *I* am handling things like the Elan, but I'd like to see how Keith incorperates what is essentially Core Rulebook IV for Eberron into the setting. |
| Siran Dunmorgan07-01-05, 08:05 PM | Allow me to be the first hard-core Eberron fan to submit Draconomicon for the consideration of the author's fiery pen. Siran Dunmorgan |
| Gurv07-01-05, 08:09 PM | My choices for further expansion by Keith would be these, because they already have strong connotations to Eberron in my mind: Expanded Psionics Handbook Libris Mortis Lords of Madness All of them have obvious potential for an Eberron DM; some of the most commonly mentioned campaigns revolve around the Inspired, the Blood of Vol, or the Daelkyr Cults. |
| Arcane Guyver07-01-05, 08:13 PM | What do I want to see...of all of them, the Complete- series would be nice. |
| Edymnion07-01-05, 08:47 PM | What do I want to see...of all of them, the Complete- series would be nice.Yeah, but he's going to try and do all of them, he wants to know which ones we want to see first though. And he says that he's going to more or less be covering new books before the old ones. But, its the older books that I at least want to see covered most. The books I already am comfortable with the material therein, but I understand that he's probably getting pressure from WotC to "advertise" their latest books for them with these articles. |
| glimeral07-01-05, 08:58 PM | Prestige Classes from various Forgotten Realms sourcebooks. I find that many of the FR organizations and Prestige Classes would work exceedingly well in Eberron with just a slight name change. For example, the Black Blood Cultists from Champions of Ruin (released a month or two ago) could reflect an underground cult of Lycanthrope sympathisers who hide and protect the last surviving Lycanthropes in Eberron while working against the Silver Flame while trying to revive the lycanthrope race in Eberron in any way they can (actively working on trying to reopen the portals to their homeplane for example). The Thayan Slaver (Unapproachable East) and Thayan Gladiator (Champions of Ruin) could also be easily incorporated into some of the more slave-minded cultures. IIRC, I remember reading somewhere that at least one culture in Eberron held gladiatorial games, and these two classes would fit really nicely into that society, just requiring a slight name change (Karrnathi Slaver/Gladiator for example). |
| Aubri07-01-05, 09:07 PM | First, I want to never ever see anything FR in Eberron. ;) I'd say XPH too. Particularly, some elements seem like they fit without trying (half-giants in Xen'drik) while others are "somewhere else" (Thri-kreen in... the Blade Desert? Sarlonan wastelands?) and some don't fit well at all without some work (Gith). Lords of Madness runs a close second, since all the aberrations have a totally different origin there--how does being created as a servitor race change their mentalities? |
| makeshiftwings07-01-05, 09:50 PM | I'd also like to see XPH, even though I don't make much use of Psionics myself. But as was said, I think psionics has a much bigger place in Eberron than most worlds where it's kind of shoved in as an afterthought; it would be good to see a little more depth to it. In fact, if I felt like it was more tightly integrated, then maybe i WOULD start using it more. I liked Lord of Madness because I'm a big fan of Mind Flayers, but I would almost rather not see Keith say much on it, because I really dislike the current Eberron idea of all the really great abberations being servitor races of the daelkyr. The Daelkyr just don't seem nearly as "cool" to me as illithids and beholders, so I'd much rather keep them as completely separate things. |
| Hellcow07-01-05, 09:56 PM | ... I understand that he's probably getting pressure from WotC to "advertise" their latest books for them with these articles. Not so much. It's more that you've ALREADY had to come up with your own ideas on the older books. With the new books I get to make suggestions that can be useful right away. This whole thing was my idea, so it's not WotC leaning on me and saying "Do Sandstorm or else" or anything like that. XPH is a big obvious one, but it's also something I've discussed with the rest of the design team, and I don't know if they have plans to cover it in an actual sourcebook of some sort. So we'll see. And bear in mind that these are short articles, along the lines of a dragonshard - so detail will be limited. These are suggestions: not a vast reimagining or anything like that. |
| Kesh07-01-05, 10:01 PM | XPH Libris Mortis Lords of Madness Complete Arcane (Eberron Warlocks, mmmm... :D ) Frostburn (the Frostfell and northern Lhazar Principalities) Book of Vile Darkness (good stuff here for the bad guys) Heroes of Horror (when it comes out...) After that, it's all gravy. |
| Galnew Einhaw07-01-05, 10:02 PM | Wow, this would be awesome and I'd be happy with any book's adaptation =) Thanks Kieth! |
| Silent Infinity07-01-05, 10:42 PM | From most desired (1) and on... (and considering Lords of Madness will be first) 1. Complete Arcane (The Warlock for example. I know the Umbragen, whom I love, have warlock as a favored class. But also learning more about acolyte's of the skin [cultits in the demon wastes?] and mindbenders would be interesting. Warmages certainly have a place in Cyre and a few other countries...] 2. Expanded Psionics Handbook (Kalashtar, Sarlona, the Psionic baddies and Half-Giants) 3. Planar Handbook & Manual of the Planes (However this may serve better once more material is released on the Planes. Shadow Plane please!) 4. Draconomicon (Argonnessen) 5. Libris Mortis (*cough*Karnnath*cough*) 6. Complete Divine (Thrane, more Sov Host information, etc.) 7. Complete Adventurer (Scout, Spellthief strikes me as quite Sharnesque) 8. Book of Exalted Deeds/Book of Vile Darkness (personally I feel these may be a bit too extreme for most of the campaign, but certain figures and specific locales could greatly benefit from these two books) |
| talion0907-01-05, 11:53 PM | Lords of Madness would of been my first pick, but since thats already the first one in the series... XPH or Complete Arcane (I too want to hear Hellcow's take on warlocks in Eberron, as well as the PRC's) |
| Euangelion07-02-05, 12:23 AM | Stormwrack. I understand that it's likely to be one of the first anyway, but I'm really looking forward to that one. Aquatic environment crunch and fluff is sorely lacking in general (i.e. several of the special abilities of the druid and ranger are nearly worthless on the high seas), and then having you, Keith, weigh in on its application to Eberron will be the icing on the cake. If I could make a suggestion, perhaps it might be helpful not to limit the information in each article from just one resource. In particular, I'm thinking of the new classes in the Complete series. Perhaps one article could address all twelve (#?) at once, rather than wait for the article on each book to come out. I understand that they want to go newer sooner than older, but those classes are pretty cool, and many of them are inspired by Asian traditions, so it would make sense to me to handle the ninja, samurai, etc. at once anyway (even if it's to say "Just because they're from related traditions in the real world, they don't have to be so linked in Eberron.") Another possibility along those lines would be the various new races found in the Races series, Planar books, XPH, etc. (and not being surprised in so doing that you might also take the opportunity to recommend limiting the number of intelligent races in a campaign as you have done on this board more than once.) DMG II, particularly recommended changes to Saltmarsh to make it more Eberronic (is that a word?), how apprenticeship/mentor rules could be used in Dragonmarked Houses and associated guilds, and adjusting/expanding the armor/weapon templates. Sure we could do these things on our own, but isn't that the point of the articles, to hear from mighty Hellcow what he thinks! :D Edit: And of course, Draconomi..., uh, Dracomonicrome, uh, no, umm, that book about dragons! |
| mistakeagian07-02-05, 12:42 AM | I will throw my hat into the VPH ring. I think thats a VERY important book to do. I want to see Psionics as defaulted to Eberron, i think if WotC sees how much we want psionics in Eberron, they may pay a little more attention to them in future books. From there: Weapons of Legacy, i think the idea of these sorts of weapons makes SO MUCH sense in Eberron. Expecially with the Last War being so long. I am sure tons of these sorts of weapons are scattered around Khorvaire. Frostburn (and in general the environment books) I think it is important to know how the specific things from these books apply to Eberron. The Complete series. Lords of Madness (Libris and Draconomicon too) Thats the general order. maybe then the Races of books, and let us know if all the racial substitutions fit your idea of the races in Eberron. OH, oh the other big one! Dieties and Deigods, and how you see it applying to the big baddies that head up the Lords of Dust! Yeah thats a big one. |
| Euangelion07-02-05, 12:44 AM | and let us know if all the racial substitutions fit your idea of the races in Eberron. Yeah, that could be a whole article all by itself too. |
| ryanroyce07-02-05, 01:03 AM | 1. A single article covering the three new races from the Races of... series. Goliaths are an easy fit as a friendly native race of Xen'drik, but Raptorans and Illumians? Not so easily placed, IMO. 2. NO XPH article... save all that goodness for the inevitable Sarlona supplement. ;) 3. The Complete... series, in this order: Arcane, Warrior, Adventurer, Divine, with the stipulation that the oriental-flavored classes are saved for... 4. ...the Oriental Adventures article. ;) Ryan |
| PoeticJustice07-02-05, 01:28 AM | I think XPH and most of the player specific material should get a raincheck Eberron has lots of interesting ideas that you really can't explore in a core setting, and vice-versa with lots of core material that really has no place in Eberron. My gaming philosophy is that if I wanted, Elan, Radiant Servants of Pelor, and Ninjas I would play a core game with elements of Eberron, not the other way around. That said, this is material I like enough to bridge over 1)Libris Mortis. I'd like to see Keith's take on Atropal Scions (reconciling the divinity aspect to Eberron), Necropolitans and their Crucimigration (which seems like a perfect sacrament for the Blood of Vol), and the prevalency of undead armor on Eberron (Karrnath). 2) Planar Handbook. I love the touchstones, but much of it is sorely incompatible to Eberron. If Keith has any input I would like to hear it 3) Complete Adventurer. I would like to see how the organizations detailed in the back synch up with Eberron from Keith's point of view. |
| stevelabny07-02-05, 01:44 AM | are these articles gonna focus on the whole of a book? or just part of a book? (example...all of complete arcane, including all 3 core classes, some prestige classes, some spells, etc OR just warlocks in one article and just warmages in another) Because that would change my opinions around. But either which way, my first vote is for Weapons of Legacy. Book unseen, some of the penalties in the previews seem steep, but the penalties can be altered if necessary and items with backstories are nice. I don't know if any of the easily ported into Eberron, but its worth looking at. And if not not, I'd love to see Keith use the weapon of legacy creation rules to build a few for Eberron. I figure the concept of weaker weapons that grow with the character is perfect for Eberron, as there won't be artifacts lying around, until the players need them. And I like having legends of heroes, ancient battles, weapons and what not around to make bardic lore explanations prettier.\ I think the three environment books are the EASIEST for a DM to just drop in to any campaign. As all you need are snow, a desert, water or some variation thereof. So besides the WoL and XPH, I would next want to see the new core classes and races from the Complete and Races of series. Warlocks, hexblades, ninja, and more. Illumians, goliath, raptorians. Sarlona and Argonessen can stay off the radar for me. Khorvaire has enough action for any campaign. And Xendrik is a nice diversion. |
| The White Sorcerer07-02-05, 02:19 AM | When it comes to prestige classes, I'd rather not see "How the Nightsong Guild fits into Eberron." What I'd like to see is "How the Nightsong prestige classes fit into an existing Eberron organization." |
| greatfrito07-02-05, 04:11 AM | I'd like to say these would be my preferences: *- Heroes of Battle (What were the Last War armies like?) *- Libris Mortis (Yes, Karrnath) Not so much the XPH, or the Races of... books. I don't personally like adding in the other races to an existing campaign. Sandstorm, Stormwrack, and Frostburn would be pretty cool to see covered too though. The Complete books, I think, are both too much, and are already general enough that they are easy adaptations. |
| EscherEnigma07-02-05, 05:52 AM | The monster books, Lords of Madness, Libris Mortis, Draconinocon. Dungeon Master's Guide II. As a struggling new DM I'm hoping to pick this up soon (hopefully my next paycheck will be big enough to afford some personal indulgences...) and any input as to how the book can be used in Eberron would be nice. I haven't had a chance to look at them yet, but the environment books might be nice, even if its not much more then 'this area is here, and this is here'. Most of the complete books are general enough on their own, and any 'tweaks' to make them fit into eberron are fairly specific to the (prestige) class being tweaked. The Races of ... books might be interesting, but I'm not too sure if they'd be useful. I personally don't think we need loads more races to try and fit in everywhere, but I'd be interested to hear what you had to say about the way various races are described there versus how they're described in Eberron (gnomes, dwarves, and halflings come to mind.) But since I imagine most of these articles would be 'ignore pages X through X, and go read my dragonshards instead' I'm not sure it'd be useful. |
| Joni-san07-02-05, 07:40 AM | Will the Eberron Expanded articles come out in-between those weeks the Dragonshards come out? That beind said, here's my list :D 0.(:P) Draconomicon 1. Libris Mortis 2. Lords of Madness 3. Heroes of Battle 4. Weapons of Legacy Those are some recent-ish books :P |
| Pozas07-02-05, 08:44 AM | Complete Adventurer Draconomicon Races of the Wild (specially the Champion of Corellon PrClass) |
| glimeral07-02-05, 10:37 AM | I second Libris Mortis and Heroes of Battle. In addition to Lords of Madness (which you are doing first) these two books are a gold-mine of information for Eberron with just a little tweaking. Libris Mortis just screams as a sourcebook for those who create (and control) Karrnathi Undead. Since Karrnath doesnt view the creation (or control) of undead as being evil, I would relax alignment restrictions for Karrnathi necromancers on feats and PrCs (if any), and in some cases add a Karrnath regional requirement (especially in respect to corpsecrafter feats, as these could easily represent the results of 50 years of Karrnath military research and field-testing into the creation of durable military grade undead). At the same time some of the feats and PrC options would have been developed by Karrnaths enemies during the Last War (eg. Enduring Life, Lasting Life, Sacred Vengence, Sacred Vitality and Spurn Deaths Touch), so having a regional requirement on these feats is a good idea also. But as with all regional requirements, characters not-native to an area can still aquire them if they spend considerable time among the natives. And well, Heroes of Battle speaks for itself. The last war was long and drawn out and the military institutions of Eberron would have honed their military practices to a fine art. |
| phoenxhwk07-02-05, 11:04 AM | XPH (especially Elans, blues, etc) New races from "races of" series (and by new races, I mean Goliaths - the others are lame!) More XPH (yeah, I know, sourcebook ...) Draconomicon Libris Mortis Frostburn = Frostfell All the random prestige classes from the Complete series I would say Lords of Madness, but I can't think of much in there that I would need adapted to Eberron. Seems pretty straightforward to me. |
| Zalaz Mavi07-02-05, 11:05 AM | First, I want to never ever see anything FR in Eberron. ;) I thought the "Sun Soul Monk" PrC in the Waterdeep preview would work great as a PrC for the Church of the Silver Flame... Do the requests necessarily have to be for D&D material? I can think of some great d20 Modern and SWRPG material I wouldn't mind seeing converted. For example, one feature of Eberron that doesn't feature much in D&D is organized crime (the Thieves' Guild is close, but not quite). Converting PrCs such as the Crime Lord, Vigo and Gangster to D&D/Eberron opens up some great options. On the opposite hand, the CorSec Officer would make a great starting point for an "undercover cop" style PrC. Just a thought... |
| Aubri07-02-05, 05:15 PM | It's just that FR has been power creeping for so long, I doubt any other setting would survive having it fused in without turning into FR Jr. |
| Hellcow07-02-05, 05:35 PM | Do the requests necessarily have to be for D&D material? No, but given the slow production schedule, I'll probably want to hit D&D stuff first. If the articles continue for a while, though, who knows? One important distinction between Eberron Expanded and the Dragonshards is that EE is NOT canon. Dragonshards are approved by the WotC design team and as such are techniclaly official material. EE is what *I* would do with the book in my campaign, if I chose to use it. So when I write an article saying "Here's how Illumians fit into Eberron", you may have a much better idea, but far more importantly, you may decide that there are no Illumians in Eberron at all. Dragonshards are fact; Eberron Expanded is conjecture. |
| Zalaz Mavi07-02-05, 05:43 PM | No, but given the slow production schedule, I'll probably want to hit D&D stuff first. If the articles continue for a while, though, who knows? That's good. The reason I ask is that the one thing Eberron, d20 Modern and Star Wars share is the pulp influence. So there are many concepts from d20M and SW that are a better fit to Eberron than elements from the High Fantasy bent of Greyhawk and FR. I look forward to the articles... |
| Hellcow07-02-05, 05:52 PM | That's good. The reason I ask is that the one thing Eberron, d20 Modern and Star Wars share is the pulp influence. Heck, for a game with a lot of Dragon Below action, D20 Cthulhu might have something to offer... |
| PoeticJustice07-02-05, 07:09 PM | I just realized something. This production schedule syncs with Dragonshards to Have Keith Publishing one article a week on Eberron, just like old times. Welcome back to the weekly slot, Keith! |
| glimeral07-02-05, 07:46 PM | Heck, for a game with a lot of Dragon Below action, D20 Cthulhu might have something to offer... Shudders... You are absolutely right about that one (I have the Cthulhu book). All that stuff going on with the Daelkyr, the cult of the dragon below, the Emerald Claw and the Blood of Vol has disturbing similarities with Cthulhu. Not only that but Cthulhu is set in a more modern day game and many of the classes and character options in the game mirror Eberrons cultural level as far as mindset goes, so classes and character options from Cthulhu would fit fairly easily into Eberron. |
| Splendide07-02-05, 07:59 PM | I'm going to be practical and mention books I've got. Book of Exalted Deeds Frostburn |
| Arcane Guyver07-02-05, 08:36 PM | Yeah, but he's going to try and do all of them, he wants to know which ones we want to see first though. I have no specific order of preference, I'd just like to see how Mr. Baker sees the material in each could be implemented. |
| Slayen07-02-05, 08:45 PM | As the resident dragon freak in my neck of the woods I would love to see Keith's take on the Draconomicon. |
| Knobl07-03-05, 01:41 AM | Book of Vile Darkness Libris Mortis Draconomicon Please? |
| Aubri07-03-05, 01:45 AM | Shudders... Heck, my GM for a Star Wars game implemented sanity rules when we went to a Dagobah-like planet twisted by a powerful darksider... He was using an old WEG module for inspiration, in which losing your mind gradually cut off access to aspects of the Force; he (cleverly, IMO) used Sanity instead and stuck losing Force feats in place of the various phobias and such. |
| MysticTheurge07-03-05, 12:39 PM | When covering the new races from Races of... don't ignore the ones that don't have entire chapters devoted to them. Goliaths, Raptorans and Illumians never really inspired me, but Stonechildren, Killoren and Sharakim always seemed pretty interesting. |
| polt07-03-05, 01:15 PM | The Monster Manual 3,5 and MM3 . There are some great creatures in there with a lot of potential to have a cool and unique place in Eberron. The Tarrasque, the Gith races, gem dragons, spell weaver and many more. |
| Hair Wax07-03-05, 02:18 PM | Libiris Mortis and the Book of Vile Darkness (I know it's old but it has so much potential!). Thank you :) |
| Edymnion07-03-05, 02:23 PM | The Monster Manual 3,5 and MM3 .Um, unless I'm mistaken, doesn't the MM3 already include sections in the monster entry for things like "Using this monster in Eberron" or "Using this monster in Faerun", and so on? |
| Mula07-03-05, 02:37 PM | Polt probably meant MM2, since s/he talked about gem dragons and spellweavers. I'd like to see the various Races of books covered. |
| Raziel_Brokodar07-03-05, 03:09 PM | Um, unless I'm mistaken, doesn't the MM3 already include sections in the monster entry for things like "Using this monster in Eberron" or "Using this monster in Faerun", and so on? Yup! :D |
| Lazaro07-03-05, 03:30 PM | I'd like to see something about the Book of Vile Darkness and Oriental Adventures. |
| DoveArrow07-03-05, 03:53 PM | The things that I'd like to see: Unearthed Arcana: In particular, I'd like to see how the alternative paladins fit into the world of Eberron. Do the evil paladins, for example, belong to a particular faction, such as the Blood of Vol, or the Cult of the Dragon Below? Do any of the paladins have a place in the church of the Sovereign Host? Anything on these things would be interesting to me. Ghostwalk: I'd like to see some examples of how to introduce the mechanics of Ghostwalk ghosts into Eberron. Maybe a city in the Mournlands where the citizens survive as walking ghosts, or maybe an article on how ghost elves fit into the society of Aerenal. Granted, Keith has mentioned both of these as possibilities for ways to introduce Ghostwalk into Eberron, but I'd like to see these ideas fleshed out by the master himself. Book of Exalted Deeds: There was some tantalizing stuff introduced in the Eberron Campaign Setting that peaked my interest into possibly buying this book. However, I'm still not quite convinced that this book is for me. So if you could give me some more juicy bits to work with other than channel celestial , I think I might be more inclined to buy it. Yes, I realize this is a shameless plug for capitalism, but I don't care. Just give me more ways to empty my pockets into the Wizards empire and I'll be happy. |
| Zedium07-03-05, 04:23 PM | Well, for those interested I still have an old conversion of the book of vile darkness here, pretty big. Also a partially finished article on the book of exalted deeds, maybe I should finish it one day. I myself would like to see for instance Heroes of Battle and indeed Chtulhu d20 converted. Also fun would be Unearthed Arcana indeed. A curious thing, yet fun book to convert could also be Magic of Faerun. |
| ryanroyce07-03-05, 05:17 PM | It's just that FR has been power creeping for so long, I doubt any other setting would survive having it fused in without turning into FR Jr. Prejudiced opinion aside [ :P ], I think that there's quite a bit of 3.5 FR material that could prove very useful to an Eberron campaign, such as using Underdark, Champions of Ruin, Lost Empires, or the Serpent Kingdoms. As for Realms power-creep, I recently played in an FR game where our treasured magic item was a friggin moon mote and my PC didn't get a +1 for his rapier until he reached 6th level. Getting to 6th level also took us two years to do. FR can be low-power, high-power, narrow-magic, wide-magic, and all things in between, depending entirely on your DM and the region you play in. Ryan |
| Hellcow07-03-05, 06:55 PM | One more quick thing I'll note: You'll see what these articles may be like starting tomorrow, though of course it will take me some time to establish a clear format. However, be aware that these are Dragonshard-sized articles, so there will be a limited amount of depth to them. You'll get to see MY thoughts on things, but in terms of in-depth exploration on an idea, you may do better on fan sites or elsewhere on these boards. In other words, if I'm writing about the XPH, I'm only going to be able to devote a paragraph or so to elan - while you can find pages of ideas on these boards. But at least you can find out what I'M thinking. ;) |
| Raziel_Brokodar07-03-05, 07:20 PM | You're doing these in addition to Dragonshards? (sorry if you mentioned that earlier) |
| Hair Wax07-03-05, 08:03 PM | Yes, they're happening alternate weeks to Dragonshards (massive grin!) |
| Silent Infinity07-03-05, 09:20 PM | Yes, they're happening alternate weeks to Dragonshards (massive grin!) I'm quite happy about that as well. That kind of support really helps Eberron be the strong contender it is. |
| Aubri07-04-05, 12:13 AM | FR can be low-power, high-power, narrow-magic, wide-magic, and all things in between, depending entirely on your DM and the region you play in. ...and what sourcebooks your DM outlaws. :D But at least you can find out what I'M thinking. ;) Oh, I already know... and it's delicious. :coolcthul |
| talion0907-04-05, 02:53 AM | Heck, for a game with a lot of Dragon Below action, D20 Cthulhu might have something to offer... I'd love to see a D20 Call of Cthulhu conversion to Eberron... I'm already running a campaign heavy on Cults of the Dragon Below, Daelkyr, etc, and it would be great to have some more ideas coming from Hellcow. Oh, and I liked the take on Aboleths in the LoM Eberron Expanded article. Making them contempories of the fiends really helped me reconcile the LoM history with Eberron's official history. |
| Christer Romson07-04-05, 09:06 AM | Lords of Madness (already done) Liber Mortis Draconomicon XPH |
| Twiggly the Gnome07-04-05, 11:18 AM | Oriental Adventures would be good since the subject comes up all the time on the boards. Suggestions that don't require segregating the material into a "oriental region" would be especially nice. :) |
| Raziel_Brokodar07-04-05, 01:17 PM | Yes, they're happening alternate weeks to Dragonshards (massive grin!) Alternating? Oh man, that sucks, Dragonshards are the most useful things ever! :( |
| stone_dog07-04-05, 01:25 PM | Alternating? Oh man, that sucks, Dragonshards are the most useful things ever! :( But since Dragonshards are already every other week and have been for a while it is nice to have something other than those newspaper articles to fill the gaps. |
| Raziel_Brokodar07-04-05, 01:32 PM | But since Dragonshards are already every other week and have been for a while it is nice to have something other than those newspaper articles to fill the gaps. Oh, I thought what was meant was we'd have to wait twice as long for Dragonshards... hahaha! |
| lord_zack07-04-05, 02:38 PM | Stormwrack. I understand that it's likely to be one of the first anyway, but I'm really looking forward to that one. Another possibility along those lines would be the various new races found in the Races series, Planar books, XPH, etc. What he said. Sorry, but you just took the words out of my mouth. Especially about Stormwrack and DMG 2. |
| tug300007-04-05, 04:15 PM | I'm going to put my vote in for Oriental Adventures as well. Some of the Complete stuff would be nice. I'm thinking about making my Broken Blade monk into a Kensai, so I've got my thoughts on how to do it already, but I'd love to see what Keith thinks, too. Tug |
| CJN07-04-05, 04:50 PM | My picks are Complete Arcane and Complete Adventurer. |
| Havrani07-04-05, 05:21 PM | I'd love to see Libris Mortis Eberron-ized: I'd especially love to see adaptations/conversions for the Deathless (e.g. "Necromantic Might" mod-ed to "Undying Might", True Necromancer version of a cleric of the Undying Court, a Deathless Lich, etc.). |
| Tap Tap07-05-05, 09:51 PM | My requests: Complete Adventurer, Complete Arcane, Races of the Wild, Oriental Adventures, Draconomicon. Thanks Keith, the Lords of Madness article was brief, however it was packed with a lot of information and ideas. I like the idea of you just pointing us in the right direction with these products rather than telling us how it is. The Dragonshard detail is great though, don't get me wrong. |
| Fedifensor07-05-05, 11:55 PM | I'm going to have to vote for Complete Arcane, as a player of a warforged warlock (http://www.peakpeak.com/~fedifensor/games/dnd3e/eberron/wrath.htm). Both warlocks and warmages seem to be very interesting options for Eberron, especially in conjunction with the Last War. Other than that, my suggestions are (in no particular order) Oriental Adventures, Savage Species, and perhaps a classic 1E module like Against the Giants (yeah, it's an adventure instead of a suppliment - so sue me). |
| mistakeagian07-06-05, 12:49 AM | ..and perhaps a classic 1E module like Against the Giants (yeah, it's an adventure instead of a suppliment - so sue me). Wow! Thats a great Idea! Some of the Old 1e and even AD&D stuff might be neat if given a place in Eberron... I can't believe this idea just came up! Just looking through th free Old Editon downloads I can see: House on Gryphon Hill Touch of Death Maybe even some of the Savage Coast stuff... I know its a little out of line compared to what Lords of Madness was, but i think its just as viable. I also wish Kieth could cover books from other companies, like Hyperconscious from Malhavoc or something, but I doubt WotC would let that fly. |
| Aubri07-06-05, 03:13 PM | I'm going to have to vote for Complete Arcane, as a player of a warforged warlock (http://www.peakpeak.com/~fedifensor/games/dnd3e/eberron/wrath.htm). Both warlocks and warmages seem to be very interesting options for Eberron, especially in conjunction with the Last War. I have to say, I consider warmages the most bland class ever to come out of WotC. Maybe CAr used up all its 'cool' on Warlocks, but the WM is just like... Eldrich Knight as a base class. Maybe I'm just not a fan of "gish" classes. |
| Kesh07-07-05, 01:02 AM | Maybe even some of the Savage Coast stuff... You do realize I must kill you now, for putting the idea of a Savage Coast Xen'drik into my head? :D Begins taking notes and grumbling... |
| gaerfindel07-07-05, 11:16 AM | I'm going to have to vote for Complete Arcane, as a player of a warforged warlock (http://www.peakpeak.com/~fedifensor/games/dnd3e/eberron/wrath.htm). Both warlocks and warmages seem to be very interesting options for Eberron, especially in conjunction with the Last War. Now that is a cool character concept! (Memorizes url for later use...) Maybe even some of the Savage Coast stuff...You do realize I must kill you now, for putting the idea of a Savage Coast Xen'drik into my head? Begins taking notes and grumbling...Ditto. Add that to the fact that I'm in the middle of adaption the "Forge of Fury" and expanding Eberron Trilogy, and I'm gonna be one busy little writer. *sighs* Ain't being a gamer grand? :D |
| Elemental07-08-05, 05:22 PM | More votes for the Draconomicon and Libris Mortis. I've already found the latter very useful for a game dealing with the Emerald Claw (the Psychic Vampire was fun to use for an undead kalashtar). |
| ChronosCrow07-08-05, 05:49 PM | I know it might be down on the list, but I'd really like to know how "Call of Cthulu" would fit into Eberron. No doubt it would deal a lot with Khyber and the Cults of the Dragon below and probably the daelkyr. |
| Wizardman07-08-05, 08:32 PM | It's my understanding that Paizo is going to publish the Shackled City Adventure Path as a hardcover at the end of the month. If you have not already done so, I would love to see how Cauldron and environs fit into Eberron. Most of the others that I want to see- well, all of them really- have been asked for. |
| Hellcow07-09-05, 06:02 PM | Thanks to everyone who's made a suggestion! There's a lot of good ideas here, and I will bear people's requests in mind as I move ahead. |
| MartM07-10-05, 02:39 PM | Since the Draconomicon seems a easy fit for the Argonessen's culture. I'd rather pick the Libris Mortis for the next Eberron Expanded... |
| Isran_Imrador07-10-05, 03:58 PM | Draconomicon Book of exalted deeds Book of vile darkness Frostburn Sandstorm |
| darkthought07-10-05, 06:30 PM | What I'd like to see, in this order: Libris Mortis (yes, I'm a Karrnathi Fanboy, and proud of it!) Expanded Psionics All the "Complete" books Stormwrack (When it comes out) All the "Races of" books Sandstorm & Frostburn Anything else I don't ask for much, do I? :D |
| Decree Of Boredom07-13-05, 12:16 AM | 1. Complete Adventurer 2. Complete Divine 3. Complete Arcane 4. Races of Destiny 5. Complete Warrior 6. Races of the Wild 7. Races of Stone 8. Draconomicon 9. Libris Mortis 10. BOED/BOVD (One article, please) So basically, what every single other poster said. |
| MysticTheurge07-13-05, 09:22 AM | Now that I've picked it up, I'd love to see how you incorporate Weapons of Legacy. Maybe just a few of your favorites and their backstories, or maybe even make up some new ones that are Eberron specific. |
| Majorafire7707-14-05, 10:36 PM | Personally, I'd love to see the EE article cover books where entire chapters are devoted to things that are meant to be in a dnd campaign based around the information in the PHB. A good example would be chapters 4 and 5 in Complete Divine, which cover Relics and Deities. While I could imagine that some of the things mentioned could possibly have a presence in an Eberron campaign, I'm not exactly sure how I could put them in, and I think that this new article can help. In addition, layouts of a standard Silver Flame or Sovereign Host temple would be pretty cool. In my opininon, another possibility for EE could be covering online content in a series of articles (too much to cover in one). An article on something like the monsters in Monster Mayhem, or on the scenarios presented in Random Encounters would be quite interesting in my opinion, and noone would feel cheated (like they would if they didn't have the book that was covered in the most recent EE article). Then again, between Dragonshards and EE, I don't expect that Keith will be able to keep up with all of the books that come out (usually one non-FR/Eberron book per month) as well as all of the books that are already out there, nevermind being able to do an article on online content, so I guess converting stuff like that to Eberron will still be left to the message boards. |
| Hellcow07-15-05, 10:14 PM | While I hope we'll see a Sarlona book some day, it's not yet on the horizon, so I'm considering the XPH. But the thing is - these are fairly short articles. This is Dragonshard length, not pages and pages and pages. So, those of you who have asked for the XPH, what is it that you're most interested in seeing me convert to Eberron? 1. Races 2. Classes/Feats 3. PrCs 4. General Discussion of Psionics in the world - people's view, magic/psionic relationship, etc. 5. Psionic Monsters 6. Other These are not exclusive, by any means. But if everyone wants to see the races - or no one wants to see the races - that's going to be useful information. Trying to cover all six is going to end up with a very cursory view of things. |
| AvonRekaes07-15-05, 11:18 PM | XPH races please! No offense to Johnny at all, but it would be nice to see how the Hellcow himself would fit Elans into Eberron. |
| Splendide07-15-05, 11:34 PM | Classes/Feats Non-quori derived Psionics particularly (that is, not Kalashtar or Inspired...the others) Not interested in Races. |
| Majorafire7707-15-05, 11:42 PM | Races. I agree with AvonRekaes 100% |
| Ryan_Singer07-15-05, 11:48 PM | 3. PrCs 4. General Discussion of Psionics in the world - people's view, magic/psionic relationship, etc. I would like both of these. -Ryan |
| Wizardman07-16-05, 12:26 AM | While I hope we'll see a Sarlona book some day, it's not yet on the horizon, so I'm considering the XPH. But the thing is - these are fairly short articles. But if everyone wants to see the races - or no one wants to see the races - that's going to be useful information. Trying to cover all six is going to end up with a very cursory view of things. In order: #1, #4, #5, #3, #2, and #6. My reasoning: #1- I would love to see how you fit Elans, Dromites, and all the rest into Eberron. #4- The situation you have created in Eberron is fascinating- psionics being an integral part of Eberron, but distant enough that the common person wouldn't be able to distinguish them from magic. #5- With psionics come the psionic monsters. A little blurb on Gem Dragons would be nice, if it could be fit in. #3- It would be interesting to see which PrC's fit in where, and who would be more likely to try for what, but knowing your opinion on these isn't quite as necessary as the above. #2- Many of the classes are easily transportable into almost any setting. Having your opinion would be very welcome, but again- not as necessary as the above. #6- It's been a while since I read the Expanded book, but I can't think of anything in it that isn't covered by the above categories except the items. |
| ChronosCrow07-16-05, 04:18 AM | XPH is a big obvious one, but it's also something I've discussed with the rest of the design team, and I don't know if they have plans to cover it in an actual sourcebook of some sort I will give you my first born and my left leg for more wonderful information on XPH, psioinics in Eberron. Do dishes, take out the trash, even clean up after Bessy! That's how devoted and desperate I am for psionic power in the wonderful world of Eberron. I could really care less if about the fact of what you can say about Eberron at times is not canon. I much more prefer the idea of a creative singular origin view, than the balance issue business view. 1. #4 is high on my list. I just want more info on psionics interacting in the world. Expanded knowledge on khorvaire reaction to psionics. 2. #5 next. Gem dragons especially 3. #1, how these different races fit in, in your opinion 3. #2, Content on how certain PC's gain psionics classes outside of kalashtar involvement. 4. #6. Maybe some info about powers, knowledge and gaining powers. Views of kinds of powers and their effects. How the kalashatar view certain types and how the Inspired view them. |
| ChronosCrow07-16-05, 04:30 AM | Draconomicon is also a very good target. I got it around the time I got Eberron, but with the fact that dragons are so distant I ened up not even using the beautiful book since most fluff things are different in Eberron. How dragons act towards each other and other kinds. What they are concerned with (other than prophecy). My players are finally to the point to interact with dragons and not know it, so I wanted to get some usage out of that book finally. |
| taski07-16-05, 06:35 AM | I definately want to read about #4 and #2, and a little about #5. How is psi seen in Khorvaire? How is magic seen in Sarlona? Are there any obscure and/or ancient schools of psionics in Khorvaire that aren't connected to Kalashtar or the Inspired? How much do they know? If I want to play a psionic character who is a core race from Khorvaire, what should I do? Gem Dragons would be very nice to know about, as would some aberrations. Races and PrCs I can do without. |
| MysticTheurge07-16-05, 12:22 PM | My preferences for XPH would be, in order: 4. General Discussion 3. Prestige Classes 2. Classes/Feats 1. Races 5. Monsters 6. Other-There's also some interesting content on the website at Mind's Eye, some of that might be worth including in an EE article, or getting it's own. |
| Psymnotica07-16-05, 01:05 PM | My preferences are the same as MysticTheurge's. I'm really curious how you'd include some of the prestige classes into the Eberron setting. |
| Silent Infinity07-16-05, 01:10 PM | 1. Prestige Classes 2. Classes/Feats 3. If you are going to talk of races, I personally feel Elan is the one to cover first with half-giant second. Thanks. |
| Illvillainy07-16-05, 01:38 PM | #4, #2, #5, #3. Other stuff would be okay, but I think Eberron doesn't need Elans or Maenads and half-giants make little sense. |
| Azazyll07-16-05, 02:42 PM | I agree also with mystic theurge. I'm not very interested in the raes personally, but would love to have more ideas for incorporating psionics into the world outside of the kalashtar and the cults of the dragon below, expecially since the racial substitution levels in RoE had some for shifters and changelings. some of the prestige classes would be nice too (although many of them were bad, IMO) and a word on psionic items would be nice. If you are doing races, Elan, Duergar, and the Gith would bemy favorites. the others were less than appealing, particularly the half giants (dark sun is dark sun, you can't just make a watered down version and try to plug it in any world) I would like to see many of the expanded classes covered, like warlock, swashbuckler (depsite being a poor job, I'd like to know about the tradition in khorvaire), warmages, and hexblades. Scouts need no explanation, spellthieves, favored souls and shamans were awful, and the oriental classes were a cheap way of padding the books. |
| Chapolin07-16-05, 06:04 PM | General Discussion of Psionics in the world... Thats a great thing to talk about because itīs useful for all players and DMs... Talking about Elan is cool too, but I think that race very strong (1 pp prevents 2 damage...) and I donīt allow use in my campaing (just Goliath is better). And the thing that I most like in your campaing setting about race is them do not are just bonus on atributes or strong special abilities (like Elan). All of them have lots of original things... So, as a DM, I really prefer de discussion of psionics in the world, especially in Khorvaire. Whatīs the role of the psions, psichic warriors, soulknives and wilders on the Five nations and other places in Khorvaire.... Thanks... Ale |
| Raster07-16-05, 10:27 PM | I think everyone is going to want General discussion of Psionics, which would hopefully include a little bit about psionic members of the common races. I would really like to see an adaptation for few of the races, Elan, Xeph, and most particularly the Thri-Kreen. Then maybe your choice picks of PrCs and Psionic Monsters that you feel fit particularly well in Eberron. It's good to have something to look forwards to on non-dragonshard Mondays again. Thanks Keith! :D |
| darkthought07-17-05, 04:55 PM | PrCs Non-Core Character Classes (like Warmage) Races In that order. :) |
| MavrickWeirdo07-17-05, 07:41 PM | I'm putting in a second vote for ghostwalk. I have seen this question pop up many times. |
| Euangelion07-18-05, 10:52 AM | By my count, here's the tally so far: XPH (12+), broken down by topics, top choice getting 6 points, lowest 1, etc.: 1. Races 40 2. Classes/Feats 38 3. PrCs 36 4. General Discussion of Psionics in the world - people's view, magic/psionic relationship, etc. 55 5. Psionic Monsters 21 6. Other 6 Libris Mortis (16) Draconomicon (15) Complete Arcane (14) Complete Adventurer (13) Complete Divine (10) Races of the Wild (9) Complete Warrior (8) Lords of Madness (8) Frostburn (7) Races of Destiny (7) Races of Stone (7) Book of Vile Darkness (7) Oriental Adventures (6) Book of Exalted Deeds (5) D20 Cthulhu (4) Heroes of Battle (4) Sandstorm (4) Stormwrack (4) Weapons of Legacy (4) DMG 2 (3) Against the Giants (2) Ghostwalk (2) Planar Handbook (2) Champions of Ruin (2) Manual of the Planes (1) Deities and Demigods (1) Monster Manual 3.5 ed. (1) Monster Manual 2 (1) Savage Species (1) Heroes of Horror (1) Unearthed Arcana (1) Unapproachable East (1) Underdark (1) Lost Empires (1) Serpent Kingdoms (1) Magic of Faerun (1) Monster Mayhem online articles (1) Random Encounters online articles (1) Waterdeep (1) House on Gryphon Hill (1) Touch of Death (1) Savage Coast (1) Hyperconscious (1) Shackled City Adventure Path (1) |
| Aubri07-18-05, 04:54 PM | While I hope we'll see a Sarlona book some day, it's not yet on the horizon, so I'm considering the XPH. But the thing is - these are fairly short articles. This is Dragonshard length, not pages and pages and pages. So, those of you who have asked for the XPH, what is it that you're most interested in seeing me convert to Eberron? 1. Races 2. But if everyone wants to see the races - or no one wants to see the races - that's going to be useful information. Trying to cover all six is going to end up with a very cursory view of things. I'd like to see the general discussion first. Of interest is how common various psionic items might be, whether you have to learn to build a psicrown or encode a stone, or if you can intuit it, and so on. I feel Classes and PrCs are adequate as-is, since they're abstractions anyway. There ARE obvious divisions, say this guy can make a mindblade and that one can't, but especially something like Elocator is simply a manifestation of that person's psionic bent and personality. They go at the bottom of the priority. I'd like to see races discussed second, followed by monsters--I'm interested to see where some of them might fit on Khorvaire rather than the other continents. The idea is that anyone can (theoretically) learn psionics, correct? But the only ones who could teach it tend to be closed-mouthed? |
| Majorafire7707-18-05, 06:39 PM | Other stuff would be okay, but I think Eberron doesn't need Elans or Maenads and half-giants make little sense. Say what? Giants are a big part of Eberron (no pun intended). Half-Giants deserve some mention. As I recall, Aberrations (such as the Elan) are a big part of Eberron also. They deserve some mention as well. Maenads are just plain cool. Let me add that I'd like to see an EE article on Ghostwalk as well. |
| Edymnion07-19-05, 01:39 PM | Yes, I'd like to see the XPH material. Preferrably some general discussion on it, but with the races being prominent. Things like PrC and feats are easy to work into a setting with only minor changes. Some of the races, on the other hand, are not so easy. And Eberron is supposed to be relatively low level, meaning that some/many games will not even reach the point where PrC become an option, but something as basic as race is one of the very first things you think of when building a character. I definately want to hear your take on Elans and Half-Giants. |
| deClench07-19-05, 01:46 PM | I would love to see much more psionics, but, as has been pointed out, these will be short pieces... of course any little bit helps. Heck, for a game with a lot of Dragon Below action, D20 Cthulhu might have something to offer... However, I think that some Cthulhu-esque touches to Eberron would be wonderful. Which comes to the point that there should be a book of ultimate evil in Eberron featuring the Cults of the Dragon Below, the Lords of Dust, and the Dreaming Dark, but I'm rambling now. Up Cthulhu! :coolcthul |
| jdmasegian07-19-05, 05:55 PM | I'd like to see some background on the prestige classes. For starters, three Kalashtar racial substitution levels for the Slayer. Seems like a quick bit of work to mesh the class, and I really liked the concept of substitution levels from the Races of Eberron. |
| Lichlord8907-24-05, 11:46 PM | XPH-wise: 1.)Races 2.)PrC's 3.)Whatever... none of the rest really matters Big picture-wise: 1.)XPH 2.)Draconomicon 3.)The Complete books 4.)BED/BVD 5.)MM1&2 By the way... can anyone explain how to do a spoiler... as you can see, me sig is way too long. |
| BloodyRoots07-29-05, 02:42 AM | I would like to vote for Shackled City Adventure Path to be expanded into Eberron. I know you (hellcow) have wrote some notes regarding the Age of Worms AP now how about something for the Shackled City? I just bought the hardback AP and would love to run it in Eberron. The AP has a lot of planer adventuring, even the plot is tied to the "default" greyhawk planes, not an easy conversion for Eberron, unless of course you do it for us! |
| Jeremiah DeathFist08-09-05, 11:58 AM | Well, I don't know about you guys but, I can't wait for Magic of Incarnum to come out and once it does I really think Keith should do one on it. Other than that the XPH definitly needs an Eberron Expanded article. |
| Hellcow08-09-05, 12:53 PM | Well, I don't know about you guys but, I can't wait for Magic of Incarnum to come out and once it does I really think Keith should do one on it. I do want to look at Incarnum myself. So you may be in luck. |
| Aubri08-09-05, 01:43 PM | I'm not looking forward to Incarnum, really... I'm sure it would be neat in its own campaign, but I feel that combining it with magic and psi will tend to dilute one or both of them in the same way psi doesn't work well if your PC is the only psionic creature in the world. It also suggests a cosmology that may or may not fit with whatever your game has already. All in all, I think I'd prefer to see expanded psionic options rather than another form of magic altogether. Oh well. (I may eat my words later, mind, but I'm not optomistic from the previews.) |
| PoeticJustice08-09-05, 01:56 PM | I would really like to see a Frostburn treatment, but methinks that'll be in the dreary months of January or December. I should think the Kalashtar would really interested in Incarnum. Maybe its where the souls of the 'forged come from... |
| Charles Phipps08-09-05, 02:04 PM | When will these articles start? It's an article after my own heart |
| mafiel08-09-05, 03:23 PM | D20 Cthulhu :D this mixed with Temple of elemental evel and return to the temple of elemental evil ... :D |
| Blaque08-09-05, 05:00 PM | Exactly how is this going ot alternate wtih Dragonshards? 'Cause it seems slower then what was initially thought. So far, it seems to go: - Dragon Shard - No Article - Eberron Expanded - No Articcle - Dragon Shard - No Article - Eberron Expanded - Ect.... Is it going ot speed up, or are we going to get a pair of alternating bi-weekly articles or soemthin'? Stuff. |
| Euangelion08-09-05, 05:27 PM | Actually, it seems to be like this: Dragonshard Eberron Expanded Dragonshard No Article Dragonshard & Eberron Expanded No Article Dragonshard Eberron Expanded??? It may be that Eberron Expanded is every 3 weeks. We'll see on Monday. |
| MavrickWeirdo08-13-05, 06:43 AM | Actually, it seems to be like this: Dragonshard Eberron Expanded Dragonshard No Article Dragonshard & Eberron Expanded No Article Dragonshard Eberron Expanded??? | Euangelion08-13-05, 11:02 AM | He went on vacation, so sue him. I wasn't complaining. I was just correcting the previous poster's pattern. Freelancers don't make enough money to make a lawsuit worth my time anyway, so I reject your suggestion. ;) |
| Blaque08-13-05, 08:08 PM | Alrighty, misread dates I guess. Thanks for that:) Stuff. |
| The White Sorcerer08-14-05, 02:50 AM | He went on vacation, so sue him. Who, Keith? Doesn't matter, he said he's already written a bunch of them. The problem lies with the people who put the stuff on the website. |
| Arcane Guyver08-15-05, 05:13 PM | Hate to be a nag or a downer, but they really should be posted faster. I mean, besides the fact there's a serious backlog of books to cover, and two new titles coming out every month.... With the rate of one possibly every two weeks (possibly), we'll never get to the XPH (especially since new books that I don't own seem to take precedence :weep: ). |
| exploding_brain08-16-05, 01:17 PM | Complete Adventurer - I just have to hear Keith's take on the Shadowbane Inquisitor and the Shadowbane Stalker, since they seem tailor made for the darker side of the Church of the Silver Flame. I'm also very interested to know if he can imagine a good place for the Daggerspell Mage and the Daggerspell Shaper. Complete Divine - Which, if any, of those new domains match the religions of Eberron? |
| King Goblin08-16-05, 02:05 PM | Forgive me for sounding really daft, I guess here is as good as any place to ask but what the this XPH everyone keeps talking about? Ive scanned through as much of the discussion boards but I must be the only person in the universe who doesn't know what the abbreviation means (Yeah I know, really daft!) :weep: As usual, I have my head stuck in a cave (or a dungeon of some description to be more d&d apt!) |
| makeshiftwings08-16-05, 02:17 PM | Forgive me for sounding really daft, I guess here is as good as any place to ask but what the this XPH everyone keeps talking about? | Charles Phipps08-17-05, 07:28 PM | Oooo! Keith should do the classes from the D&D mainline |
| Rechan08-17-05, 07:47 PM | Heros of Horror Libris Mortis Sandstorm/Stormwrack Finally, I'd like to see Oriental Adventures. There are a lot of posts made regularly about "How do we fit in Eastern stuff in Eberron?" An article by Keith would be great on this. I just want to see what he says about the Samurai (and their various incanrations), the Ninja, the Shaman - really this could be summed up with the Complete series Alternate Classes. |
| Digital Demon08-18-05, 11:47 PM | I would love to have poster type maps for the gameing room my group uses and more pre made adventures if not a actual box set that comes with those things and maybe a paper back with the info from all the Dragon Shards :D what can I say my group is spoiled we just finnished a Birthright campain that had a box set with all those goodies and every one was really into that campain, I think little touches like that help |
| Tom McCarthy08-22-05, 08:49 PM | If Eberron Expanded allows you to go beyond WOTC material (of which there is no shortage), I think you should consider looking at Malhavoc Press's Chaositech and suggesting some of the ideas in there which would fit the daelkyr and their aberration offspring. The physical implantation of the weapons and tools, the fusing of creatures, the warping of flesh, the threat to sanity from using the stuff (thematically, if not in the actual game mechanics) all fit nicely with daelkyr, aberrations, and the cult of the Dragon Below. |
| Tom McCarthy08-22-05, 08:54 PM | I could easily see at least 3 columns worth of material from Weapons of Legacy. It would be relatively easy to create 4 or 5 weapons of legacy which fit the history of Eberron and write them up in columns. Even more notable, Eberron is a setting where one could almost craft an entire campaign where every permanent magic item with a bonus above +2 is a weapon of legacy. Right now (well, 998 YK anyway) there's a shortage of high level spellcasters who can make truly potent magic items. And Eberron's history is one of epic conflicts (daelkyr invasion, Dhakaani civil wars, Last War, War fo the Marks, elf-dragon wars, campaign to exterminate the House of Vol, elf-giant wars, Xoriat invasion, etc.). There should be tons of magic items lying around with history to them. It becomes relatively easy to make all the big magic items require a true investment to use, and it means some of those giant magic items can be loose in the world without tipping the whole world into a major arms escalation. |

I think that on WotC's official site they wouldn't put an article for material that they didn't make. Honestly, advertising another guy's product when that money is better spent on your products is kind of stupid... |
| gaerfindel08-23-05, 08:25 AM | If Eberron Expanded allows you to go beyond WOTC material (of which there is no shortage), I think you should consider looking at Malhavoc Press's Chaositech. For that, Keith has his website, Bossy the Cow (http://www.bossythecow.com). |
| scissors08-29-05, 09:21 PM | Personally, I'd really like to see the other Races books converted over, especially Races of the Wild. I am very intrigued by the Champion of Correllon PrC, (mostly because of the picture) and would like to see some sort of elven champion devoted to an elven god, or pantheon, ideal, etc. |
| Tom McCarthy08-30-05, 08:34 AM | As I read Weapons of Legacy more, I'm inclined to use the Weapons of Legacy model for how the Valenar elves grow into the roles of their ancestors. When they inherit an ancestral weapon or item, it is weak, but as they adventure and grow in power, the item's abilities are unlocked. The greatest success is to exceed your ancestor and 'found' a new set of abilities within the item. |
| Belmorn08-31-05, 05:23 AM | Favored soul in eberron? |
| Sir Elton08-31-05, 08:02 AM | Ptolus and Eberron are a marriage made in Heaven. After Monte has completed his Magnum Opus, it shouldn't be too hard to drop it in Eberron somewhere. After all, you have an instant sister city to Sharn. That's something I'd like to see in an Eberron Expanded article or on your Website, Keith. |
| Blaque08-31-05, 09:29 AM | Favored soul in eberron? Seeing as they're referred to in the Dragonshard on kobolds, I don't see why not. Just that you need to wonder if its really from the gods, or are they actually just so into it they are triggering their own magicalness and all that jazz again. And stuff. |
| Gnome_Dragon_Disciple09-09-05, 12:29 AM | I'd definitely like to see a take on Incarnum and where it fits in Eberron. The Totemist from the excerpt would fit fairly well from the Marches, the Reaches, or Xen'Drik, methinks. The rest of the fluff of Incarnum would probably fit fairly well with Kalashtar and maybe a couple Inspired lords (the fluff fits fairly well with psionics from what I can see, and even though they butchered chakras, that whole "discover your energy" sort of thing woudl fit VERY well with any sort of monastic society")... Still, I'd like a semi-official take on the matter... ^^;; |
| Jeremiah DeathFist09-09-05, 01:13 PM | Incarnum, Incarnum, Incarnum! |
| mhacdebhandia09-09-05, 10:05 PM | Another vote for the Expanded Psionics Handbook and Magic of Incarnum. |
| Majorafire7709-09-05, 10:19 PM | Hit XPH before you hit Incarnum. Incarnum may be good (when it comes out), but XPH simply kicks ass. |
| Euangelion09-09-05, 10:57 PM | Incarnum should wait, if for no other reason than it will contain information in the book on how to adapt it to Eberron. There's plenty of other books with no such help for Keith to pay attention to. |
| Feroz09-18-05, 04:07 PM | Incarnum should wait, if for no other reason than it will contain information in the book on how to adapt it to Eberron. There's plenty of other books with no such help for Keith to pay attention to. Quite unfortunately, this 'information' consists entirely of 3 sentences saying "This is where you would find this method of working Incarnum into Eberron." Literally, the author wrote 3 sections, each with a different way of introducing incarnum to your campaign, and the added sentences like "You could find this in Xen'drik in Eberron, or in this area in the Forgotten realms." Those are the only mentions of Eberron in the entire book. I would love to see an article on it though, the Shape Soulmeld feat would be a boon for many professionals. Sailors, animal trainers, diplomats, thieves, almost anyone can get a useful boon out of bonuses to their specialty's skill. The versatility of the Incarnum system, and the fact that it can be available to anyone with the proper abilities, regardless of class means that in Eberron, incarnum use could become rapidly widespread. |
| nyysjan09-20-05, 03:14 PM | Oriental Adventures book from 3.0e would be nice (and does anybody have info on what was changed on the races when updated to 3.5, i don't need the whole info package, only the list of changes) |
| Slayen09-20-05, 03:45 PM | Another vote for Incarnum here. |
| Twiggly the Gnome09-20-05, 05:54 PM | Oriental Adventures book from 3.0e would be nice (and does anybody have info on what was changed on the races when updated to 3.5, i don't need the whole info package, only the list of changes) The OA races didn't change that much - Human: Lion clan members get Intimidate as a class skill, instead of the obsolete Knowledge (War). So if your not using the Rokugan setting, nothing changes. :) Hengeyokei: Creature type changes from the obsolete Shapechanger type, to Humanoid (shapechanger). Drop level adjustment down to +0. Vanara: Remove all racial ability score modifiers. |
| Sucros09-21-05, 09:41 PM | Another vote for incarnum. Got it. Loved it. Curious how Hellcow would use it. |
| Xyl09-22-05, 02:17 AM | I'll put in a vote for Complete Divine since so much of the material in that book (relics, prestige classes, new domains) is written for the default set of deities. The other Complete and Races books seem relatively easy to adapt, although I wouldn't mind articles for them eventually. |

| Joni-san09-26-05, 02:52 PM | 1. Races 2. Classes/Feats 3. PrCs 4. General Discussion of Psionics in the world - people's view, magic/psionic relationship, etc. 5. Psionic Monsters 6. Other Out of those I'd like to see (1) Races, (4)GDPsi and (5) Psi Monsters. Then (2-3) the Classes and PrCs if you ever feel like it :P I came up with a updated list 1. XPH 2. Draconomicon 3. Magic of Incarnum 4. Libris Mortis |
| Dalton Onestone09-27-05, 03:56 AM | Not that I'm a big PRC person, but a lot of the PRCs from the Completes had specific world background assumptions that might or might not fit into Eberron. Do Alienists fit? What about the Daggerspell classes? Green Star Adepts? And of course that ueberclass of ueberclasses, the F. Lyrists? |
| Jeremiah DeathFist09-27-05, 09:50 AM | WTH?! It's been three weeks since wizards released a new Eberron Expanded or Dragonshard article. What's up? |

| Isran_Imrador12-05-05, 02:27 PM | Stormwrack Complete Divine |
| Euangelion12-05-05, 03:19 PM | Heroes of Horror, though it's got quite a bit of Eberron feal to it already, thanks no doubt to James Wyatt! Edit: Looking at the preview of Players Guide to Eberron, it appears that PGE contains information on adapting various supplements to an Eberron campaign (such as Frostburn in the preview). So we may have to wait to see that book before the EE's can really take off. |
| Euangelion12-05-05, 03:20 PM | By my count, here's the latest tally so far (not much change from a few months ago): XPH (12+), broken down by topics, top choice getting 6 points, lowest 1, etc.: 1. | cancerousmango12-06-05, 11:50 AM | I would definitely love The Book of Vile Darkness, as I always love the badguys more than the good guys, and Eberron is beset on all sides by the inequities of the Rajahs and the tyranny of half-dragon liches. Cast my vote for BoVD. |
| Nature-boy12-07-05, 03:27 PM | My vote is for the Complete Series. |
| gula11-24-06, 12:05 PM | The Epic Level Handbook gets my vote :) |
| davethebrave37111-24-06, 02:34 PM | By my count, here's the latest tally so far... What about Libris Mortis? That one's been done too. And one with no votes, the PH II, is also done. |
| MagicMouth11-25-06, 01:41 PM | Heroes of Horror Book of Vile Darkness Epic Level Handbook |
| mdock200311-27-06, 02:36 PM | 1. XPH 2. Heroes of Horror (Eberron has plenty of elements for a great horror game) 3. DMG II (the earlier post about adapting Saltmarsh into a more Eberronish town is spot on) 4. Manual of the Planes 5. Book of Vile Darkness 6. Book of Exalted Deeds 7. Deities and Demigods 8. Maztica (I would love to find ways to integrate a Maztica type culture into Eberron) 9. Draconomicon 10. Libris Morits 11. Lords of Madness In truth I think most of these should be done as separate Eberron sourcebooks or as an Eberron Campaign Sourcebook II that contains information to properly "convert" this material to Eberron. While on the topic of sourcebooks I would like to see a Life in Eberron book or pdf. Something that just shows everyday life, architecture and general structure of small town Eberron. It could go into the different small town cultures in each region, explain any special holidays and festivals as well as the various careers available for NPCs. In a world of magical technology there must be quite a few differences in regards to necessary jobs in such a world. That may be a bit over board, and off topic, but I think, as a DM, it would be pretty interesting. |
