well im going to be running an eberron campaign, never run a campaign of any type before, and i want to know if the eberron setting is a good one to entice people in.

i love the book myself, and i can see alot of potential for humour - which will eba large factor in bringing the players of my gaming club in.

any advice?

I'm not sure if this helps, but don't 'wing it' like I did in the last session I DMed...

Yeah, I've noticed that my best games ever, namely a Star Wars campaign that held the same six players from start to finish, were done with 90% improvisation. I tried this in Eberron last night, though, and failed miserably. Star Wars just has too many books to keep track of. If you don't plan ahead then you fail the players, who get really bored watching you scurry through a library of books.
Of course if you do plan ahead then you can't have a steady job, lol.

Eberron has lots of potential for a lighthearted game.

My favorite idea is to have a group with a flying ship called “Eberron Express”

The captain is a one eyed member of house Lyrander
The delivery boy was turned to stone 1000 years ago and recently turned back.
For some reason a warforged designed to bend things who likes to smoke and drink is on the crew.
The intern is a clumsy but cute/smart kalashtar.
The healer is a chull
The CEO of the company is a senile artificer

I ran an Eberron game where the players were monster hunters who worked for an organization. They would take jobs collecting live or dead monsters for verious reasons. It was fun and very different from the standard save the world campaign.

Go with the forgotten forge in the back of the ECS. It's good and it covers the basic parts of eberron.

I'm going to go Quinten Tarintno on my first adventure. The time flipping, and all that jazz.

The thing about Eberron, is you have to use the elements provided in the ECS to flavor it, or else it's just your standard D&D adventure.
