I am planning an Eberron Frostfell campaign inspired by the Frostburn book and thought I would share a few ideas and steal some from anybody who has been similarly inspired.

1. First question what counts as frostfell? There is a collection of three smallish islands and one large island to the north west of the demon wastes, these appear to be on the same latitude as most of Khorvaire and I want the proper frostfell environment. I have therefore decided to use the landmass at the very top.

2 I have decided to use the story of the Iborighu and Hleid exactly as described, except perhaps to make them powerful dragons rather than gods. They would have been from the time ages past, maybe the age of Giants c 80,000 years from the present. Iborighu fled to Risia to escape the wrath of other dragons and has never returned.

2. The previous attempts to reach the Frostfell, one common knowledge success, have been in ignorance of annual trading trips to a summer trade meeting in a place known as Melt. Melt is held in and around a mysterious ancient ruin, in the short 2 month summer when the tundra melts and flowers, house traders arrive to trade. A temporary city grows around melt; Neanderthals trade furs for precious iron, a few Uldras, Humans native to the frostfell, as well as Orcs and Goblins. It is policed by the Knights of the Iron Glacier.
In the last 2 years the summer has shortened, this is part of the lead up to Eberron being coterminous with Risia, the plane of ice. This year some ships were trapped in ice and had to wait some weeks for it to melt.

3. Not sure yet whether to have Ice Dwarves, probably will, there will definitely be Neanderthals, Uldras, Humans, Warforged, Shifters, Orcs and other monstrous humanoids.

4. The story arc is: A Half-White-Dragon/Uldra Winterhaunt of Iborighu has been planning for centuries to plunge Eberron into a perpetual winter. She has a supply of Major Icehearts (Artifacts capable of magically creating Frostfell conditions in a temperate or warmer climate) which her underlings will scatter across Khorvaire. When Risia is coterminous with Eberron, she will bring an Ancient artifact from Risia, called The Heart of Winter in Draconic, it will join the Icehearts and plunge Khorvaire into a perpetual winter, which will slowly spread across the whole of Eberron.

5. I have decided to use mostly Frostfell classes for the PCs rather than standard Eberron characters introduced to the Frostfell (but maybe a mix).

6. The first instalment will be an Uldra heading to a rimefire eidolon to make the change into Rimefire Witch and some of the party will have dreamed of her and have come to help her on the journey.
This will be a Warforged fighter atoning for war atrocities who will transcend and become a Knight when they get to the Eidolon (Quest completed), another PC will strip off and disappear for 24 hours and return a Frost Mage, a Neanderthal, don't know rest yet. The idea is to get them frosty and part of the frostfell.

7. Here's some thoughts:

a. Warforged. There are quite a few there, the Knights of the Iron Glacier are all Warforged. They were originally running from the war, escaping the atrocities, trying to atone. Iron Glacier was the first, slain 20 years ago, and is the title of their leader.
b. Shifter. I need to come up with a Frostfell shifting feat.
c. Warforged lack of need for food and water is a huge advantage in the frostfell.

That's it, didn't really mean to go on at such length but a couple of ideas popped up as I typed.

Warforged only in iron knights sounds cool! how did the all get there? I think you should have the dwarfes inn it! Shifters and neandertals are competing for the same space, and have simular societies...

there are many threads about frostfell here, use the search option!

let us know when winter comes to the 5!

Frostfell isn't on the map of Khorvaire. It is an extremely cold area VERY far to the north. Check out the "world map". North of the map is Frostfell.

It might be a good idea to include the children of winter, they will likely be the most active druidic sect in frostfell area.
