So who is planning on using a lot of Eberron stuff for their homebrew campaigns? What stuff are you borrowing?

I'm a big fan of the races and classes in Arcana Unearthed, but I really like the Eberron setting a lot. It's so much work to integrate the two that I'm going to go homebrew instead of using the exact Eberron world.

My current game in my setting has a very Dark Ages feel, so whenever I start a new campaign in the same world, I'll place it a few hundred years later, after a big war (borrowing Last War themes and warforged). The big empires will be split up into smaller kingdoms, so I can borrow heavily from Breland, Karnath, Darguun, etc. The Mournland will be right in the middle of the old empire. I may not include the Demon Wastes, since I already have a monster-infested wasteland (I'll probably borrow a few ideas from the DemonWastes, though).

AU has the Dramojh, evil dragon-fiend hybrids, so its not too hard to make them related to the daelkyr, and thus bring in more aberrations and the gatekeeper initiates.

I like dragonmarks, but I think I'll drop the race restrictions and downplay the Houses. Dragonmarks mix really well with Runes in AU. Dragonshards are cool, especially the elemental binding shards.

I guess I'm brainstorming for my own benefit here, but I'd like to hear what other people are stealing from Eberron for their games.

I'm a little disappointed that only the 'standard D&D' races have access to dragonmarks. I don't think it's a matter of balance, the new races seem well made in that regard. I can only guess it's to give the old races something cool just for themselves.

The thing is if I were going to play in an Eberron game I would like to try as many new things as possible. My first character choice woud be a Warforged Artificer because both are unique to the campaign world. I would be in completely be in new territory!

Dragonmarked Warforged is a very interesting idea. If the history of Khorvaire were written differently (meaning if I wanted to homebrew this idea) then perhaps the appearance of dragonmarks on the worforged was a deciding factor in their being granted freedom at the Treaty of Thronehold.

As for what I'm 'stealing' for my campaign, well I already have a place for the worforged in my game. I would let someone be an artificer if they wanted to, and as I write this I thought of a recurring NPC who I want to stat out with the same class. I might put the dragonmarks in but their impact on the world would not be as profound as in Eberron. More like a small kingdom with twelve or so fiefdoms, each ruled by one of the families. If someone wanted to utilize dragonmarks they would have to be of that nationality.

Overall it's a good book with a lot of crunchy bits.
