| Kanatash10-23-05, 10:45 PM | So the cleric, fighter, rogue, and wizard are the classic party of adventurers (although a lot of the newer introduction products have a sorcerer in place of the wizard). What about Eberron? What is your Eberron iconic party? |
| Thwyvylyn10-23-05, 11:05 PM | Warforged Fighter/Juggernaught, Changeling Rogue, Kalashtar Psion, and a Human Cleric of the Silver Flame. Alternative make-up : Halfing Barbarian, Shifter Druid, Goblin Bard, and a Half-Orc House Tharashk Scout. |
| 3nigma10-23-05, 11:16 PM | Fighter, Rogue, Cleric, *Artificer |
| rampant10-24-05, 02:32 AM | Shifter ranger warforged artificer kalashtar soulknife and that fracking wizard that someone always plays my group almost never has a primary healer |
| LordVanduu10-24-05, 02:51 AM | I think pretty much any combination is ok as long as you have atleast one character from each broad group. A warrior of some sort, a skill monkey, an arcane caster (or artificer or psion) and a divine caster. But in my experience a party can survive without a divine caster/ healer. It's just very hard and they have to be really careful. my group almost never has a primary healer I feel ya... I DMed a campaign in which the party never had a healer, all the way from 1st level to 9th. Yeah it was hard, but there were plenty of healing potions being bought in the big cities. Luckily they also had a bard who could use CLW wands. And there was a paladin for a while, but the player wanted to switch to a wizard, so the paladin was replaced with a doppleganger that was working for the BBEG. An off topic tip: If any of your players want to switch characters, make their old character into an enemy for the party. They don't have to go evil, but they should definately be on a different team. One player wanted to switch from playing his telepath to play the same paladin from above (this player learned not to switch characters so often). The telepath went back to his home country which was in the middle of a civil war. He liberally used his powers to take control and establish an EXTREMELY lawful neutral society. He also established schools to teach psionics, which until then had been extremely rare. Needless to say the PCs had trouble when they when they ran afoul of him later on and began to run into fully trained psychic warriors and psions... We now return you to your regularly scheduled topic... |
| Uller99910-24-05, 03:47 AM | Tank: Human Paladin of the Silver Flame, Halfling Barbarian, War-forged Fighter, Valenar warrior nature guy: Shifter or half-orc ranger or Druid, utility: Changeling Rogue, gnome bard, Cannith or Dwarven artificer magic guy: anybody really, nothing pops out for this. I suppose a Karrnathi necromancer, Anyway those are some of the stereotypes that pop out at me. |
| MarkB10-24-05, 05:25 AM | Keith Baker has a nice balanced party of Eberron characters on his website. (http://www.bossythecow.com/eberronparty.htm) I made a set of six 6th-level characters for my Errand of Mercy one-shot game, which were intended to be a good introductory set of Eberron characters. They consist of: Zilargo Gnome Bard - group leader Human Paladin of the Silver Flame Valenar Elf Cleric (Keeper of the Past) Warforged Artificer Dragonmarked Half-Elf Sorcerer (Mark of Detection) Halfling Barbarian |
| Lily_Knight10-24-05, 07:04 AM | My players at the moment are in the middle of designing a three member party, and their first choice got them slaughtered: Warforged Fighter Human Bard Human Cleric of Dol Dorn With their experiences in mind, I would consider the following three member iconic party: Shifter (Longstrider) Ranger Gnome Bard Changeling Wizard |
| 6FootGnome10-28-05, 07:49 PM | Warforged fighter (it is THE Eberron Iconic characther. Your party is not sufficently iconic if you do not have one of these) Human cleric, Almost definatly of the soverign host (the main religon in eberron) but failing that, obviously The Silver Flame. Natrually said characther will be female Changeling rogue (or subsitute for a halfing) Khalaster Psion |
| Siberys10-29-05, 12:04 AM | Just look in the beginning chapter of the ECS. It's got multiple character groups right there. While Vanilla's got Jozan the Cleric, Lidda the Rogue, Regdar the Fighter, and Aramil, the Sorcerer, we've got: Throndred, Dwarf Artificer Azm, Warforged Fighter Sarav, Half-Elf Ranger Baristi, Shifter Wizard OR Halharan, Kalashtar Psion Ural d'Orien, Human Sorcerer Corash, Halfling Barbarian Kuduth, Half-Elf Cleric OR Janar, Half-Orc Druid Vanira, Gnome Bard OR Tam, Changeling Rogue Listed with typical, noted companions. |
| Chrys10-29-05, 09:57 AM | Sarav, Half-Elf Ranger I'm pretty sure he is a full elf :embarrass |
| Siberys10-29-05, 10:48 AM | Curses! And this whole time I thought he was half-elf... |
| Bluebrush10-29-05, 11:07 AM | While Vanilla's got Jozan the Cleric, Lidda the Rogue, Regdar the Fighter, and Aramil, the Sorcerer, we've got: Isn't the last one Mialee the Elf/Stick Wizard? As for Eberron's Iconics, I feel the main parties of The City of Towers, The Binding Stone and The Orb of Xoriat stand as good iconics. |
| Siberys10-29-05, 11:36 AM | Well, I think the new Iconic spellcaster is Aramil, from the Basic set... |
| thought_riot10-29-05, 12:49 PM | I think most of the suggestions above are good. However, take a look at my party! (Before last session, the Wizard wasnt even there) Changeling Rogue Changeling Bard Warforged Fighter Elven Ranger (very differnt from a normal elf and a ranger though, highly customized character, savage, grew up with moutain lions, runs on all 4s, etc) Halfling Ninja Half-Elven Wizard My group rarely plays spellcasters period, besides the bard, who one player is like trademarked to play. |
| Edymnion10-30-05, 12:26 AM | I'd think for an iconic party of 4, you'd have: Changling Rogue Warforged Fighter Human Artificer (duh, marked member of house cannith) Shifter Ranger The Rogue has the skills covered. The Fighter has the tank roll covered. The Artificer covers a lot of the arcane spellcaster roll, as well as being backup rogue. The Ranger can cover some of the healing roll that the Artificer doesn't take, and is also a backup Fighter and a backup Rogue. Wizard isn't really needed, and the cleric is actually less common in Eberron than normal, so it lets some of the "lesser" healers shine more. |
| Joni-san10-30-05, 10:22 AM | Well if we are to use Iconic in the meaning re-occuring characters in the art, then we already have a few: WAR's sourcebook cover characters (the warforged mage with the wand-thing, the female rogue and the others) Thondred and a few other characters from the ECS |
