I've been poring over my various Eberron texts, trying to get a sense of the naming conventions used by Region or Race. As you might have guessed from my posting here, I'm having a rough time of it.

Does anyone have a working sense of how folk in Eberron are named, outside of the d' and ir' systems?

Just to make sure...

"ir" means "son of"
and "d'" preceds the family name (as for dragonmarked families).

Right?

Not quite. The 'ir' prefix means you are from a noble family.
'd' means you are a blood member of a Dragonmarked House (as opposed to being married into it). Another interpretation (which has only appeared in the City of Towers glossary to my knowledge) is that only marked individuals can use the d' prefix.

Otherwise, there are no naming conventions, aside from using something that sounds right for your character. At least, there are no official naming conventions beyond 'ir' and 'd'.
