| maollelujah09-29-06, 10:11 AM | I was fooling around with the populations from the ECS and created percentage stats by race and country. There were a few interesting things. 1 out of 7 Brelanders are Gnome. Zilargo has the third largest population of Gnomes in Khorvaire and only 14.8% of all gnomes call Zilargo home. 15% of the entire Orcish poplution of Khorvaire lives in Breland. More Shifters live outside of the Eldeen Reaches than in it. (52% to 48%) Breakdown of the remaining 5 Nations: (this is the best I can get the tables :weep: ) Nation Race Population % of Pop Aundair Changelings 30000 1.6 Aundair Elves 220000 11.7 Aundair Gnomes 220000 11.7 Aundair Half-Elves 320000 17 Aundair Humans 1020000 54 Aundair Others 20000 1.1 Aundair Shifters 60000 3.2 1890000 Nation Race Population % of Pop Breland Changelings 148000 4 Breland Dwarves 264000 7.2 Breland Elves 296000 8 Breland Gnomes 518000 14 Breland Goblins 148000 4 Breland Half-Elves 370000 10 Breland Halflings 148000 4 Breland Humans 1628000 44 Breland Orcs 111000 3 Breland Others 74000 2 3705000 Nation Race Population % of Pop Karrnath Dwarves 450000 18 Karrnath Elves 200000 8 Karrnath Half-Elves 200000 8 Karrnath Halflings 250000 10 Karrnath Humans 1300000 52 Karrnath Others 100000 4 2500000 Nation Race Population % of Pop Thrane Dwarves 207000 9 Thrane Elves 92000 4 Thrane Half-Elves 230000 10 Thrane Halflings 92000 4 Thrane Humans 1610000 70 Thrane Others 69000 3 2300000 more to come... |
| CzarGarrett09-29-06, 10:33 AM | Its not all that odd. There are more Jews in the NYC metro area that Israel, an enormous Arabic population in Minnesota, and more sheep than people in New Zealand (by a large factor). |

| maollelujah09-29-06, 02:04 PM | Looks great. How did you manage that? I tried code, but it didn't look any better. |
| okaynowa09-29-06, 02:31 PM | Set the tables up using the Windows "word pad" accessory. All the characters in word pad have the same width, so it'll show you exactly where things are lining up. Cut and paste from word pad, use the board editing tools to add the bold facing, and then wrap it with your code tags. You can copy and paste the tables I made by using the board's "quote" function, which will reveal the tags. |
| maollelujah09-29-06, 03:17 PM | Thanks okaynowa. Here is a breakdown of the Races... Things I find interesting. 15% of Shifters are from Droaam. Large population of Orcs in Breland. More Gnomes than Elves in the Eldeen Reaches. 22% of Gnomes live in Aundair. (Why does Aundair have such a large population of Gnomes, while Karrnath and Thrane have very few.) | okaynowa09-30-06, 01:01 AM | Don't forget the islands, mon. Some 12% of the Lhazaar Principalities' 500,000 people are changelings. Without trying to guess what portion of other countries' "other" bracket is changelings, the table should look like: ChangelingsNation Population % of Pop Aundair 40,000 15.15 Breland 148,000 56.06 Lhazaar 60,000 22.73 Talenta 16,000 06.06 Total 264,000 Sharn's changelings number around 6,500 (S:CoT 27), which is 3.25% of that city and just under 2.5% of changelings across Khorvaire. So, in Sharn about 3 people in 100 are changelings, while in the Principalities the number is just over 1 in 10. More live in Breland, but you're more likely to run into one among the Lhazaar. What's really odd is that Talenta population-- no major multi-racial urban centers, and a large halfling population they can't blend in with. Unusual place for the changelings to congregate, eh? |
| Horus09-30-06, 07:23 AM | Why's it odd that there are more gnomes than elves in the Eldeen reaches? |
| Salla09-30-06, 05:59 PM | Why's it odd that there are more gnomes than elves in the Eldeen reaches? Because gnomes aren't all that 'woodsy'? Then again, neither are elves in Eberron, now that I think about it (go scimitar-swingin' desert warriors!). |
| The White Sorcerer09-30-06, 07:07 PM | You know, I wouldn't be at all surprised if gnomes had some connection with the fair folk. They have innate magical powers, and the power of their sorcerers is said to come from a link to the Fairy Court. |
| maollelujah09-30-06, 10:09 PM | Why's it odd that there are more gnomes than elves in the Eldeen reaches? Because we've heard of Elves from the Eldeen Reaches (there are named NPC's that are elven), but not a gnome at all. Secondly, it seems that Khorvaire Elves were spread pretty much equally among the 5N, and I would've guessed that there would've been at least as many Elves as gnomes. |
| Thwyvylyn10-01-06, 05:52 AM | I'd say most elves are still in Aerenel but that's just me. |
| Kaodi10-02-06, 10:07 AM | Personally, in any Eberron campaign I would run, the changeling population would be A LOT lower than it says in the books... I mean, come on, if one in every 25 people could change what they looked like, would you trust anyone? |
| okaynowa10-02-06, 10:16 AM | Said Kaodi:I mean, come on, if one in every 25 people could change what they looked like, would you trust anyone? In the Lhazaar Principalities, it's more than 1 in 10... which probably contributes to Khorvaire's general distrust of 10 out of 10 Lhazaar. Shape changing pirates! |

| Euangelion10-02-06, 06:07 PM | I wrote up a thing a long time ago about the Eldeen gnomes, because I thought it was a little odd that everything we hear about the gnomes has to do with Zilargo. I'm very surprised that they aren't more represented in the Greensingers, considering their fey-like nature and natural disposition to the bard class. There is an aberration-hunting gnome mentioned in the Warden of the Woods section of PGtE. By the way, don't forget about the 25% of the population of the Demon Wastes who are fiends! |
