| RatFlail OF DOOM!!!!10-14-04, 04:51 PM | just a few questions. When did eberron come out this year or 2002? I need more details on the deites and religions of eberron. The short little paragraphs are DEFINITALY not enough. Is it possible to apply metamagic or metapower feats to spells and replace the cost with action points? *that would so kick ass* Is a warforged made of wood since its affected by repel wood? Wat is the dragon prophecy? They may be bleak and stupid but i need to know. |
| mojo_20210-14-04, 05:14 PM | Eberron came out just this year. There isn't really a lot of information about the deities and religions out there. Religion in Eberron is more about faith than about the gods themselves. It is not even certain whether or not the gods even exist at all. I do not believe you can use action points to apply metamagic feats to spells and use the action point in place of the higher spell slot requirement. Warforged are made of several components, many types of metal, and organic materials such as wood. The Prophecy of the Dragons is never specifically stated, but left open for the DM to interpret. I hope this was helpful. |
| Edymnion10-14-04, 07:04 PM | Yup, Eberron came out in 2004. If you look one one of the first pages, at the bottom, you'll see the copywrite date as being 2004. For religion, you'll just have to wait for a new book, or a dragonshard article, as thats really all there is. But the bottom line is that religion in Eberron is not like Religion in the normal games. The gods really aren't important, and don't really do anything in the campaign, to the point nobody really knows if they're even real or just made up. Look at the illustration of the Warforged. Their base material seems to be wood (I believe I remember reading that it was darkwood), while significant portions are made of stone, and some metal plates here and there. Really, they're a composite creature, made up of a little bit of everything. Nobody but Keith knows what the Dragon Prophecy is. Even the dragons themselves don't really know what its about. General feel though is that its like what the Bible Code is supposed to be, the entire history of the world, including things that have yet to come to pass, written into the fabric of creation. But this stuff really is covered in the book. You do have the book, and you have read it, right? |
| Doctor X10-14-04, 09:11 PM | In Unearthed Arcana, there's some new action point uses, but most of them are much more powerful than the default Eberron stuff. One of the UA uses allows you to apply a metamagic feat to a spell as you cast it by spending one action point. Problem is... there's no other cost, which is absolutely insane. I think I'll probably adapt this, and decreasing its power a bit and requiring a feat, sort of like Action Surge. Maybe something along the lines of: Action Metamagic Prerequisites: Any metamagic feat Benefit: You may spend action points to apply a single metamagic feat you know to any spell you cast. Doing so costs one Action Point per two spell levels (rounded up) that the metamagic feat adds to the original spell. You cannot use this if the modified spell level of the spell is higher than you can normally cast. For example, a 5th level wizard can cast spells no higher than 3rd level. Thus, he cannot use Action Metamagic to apply Empower Spell to a 1st level spell, because Empower Spell would increase the spell's level above 3. To answer your other question-- warforged are made up of many different materials, but from the looks of the pictures, it seems like wood and other organic materials are the most abundant. The metal in their bodies seems limited to just the outer plating. |

The action points there, and the action points in Eberron have nothing to do with each other. UA action points were not ment to work with Eberron, as it hadn't been created yet. Use the two together at your own risk. |

I didn't say they were. I just see UA as a good source of ideas. Besides, I'm pretty sure Eberron action points are at least loosely based off of UA. They ARE very similar except in the Special Actions. |
| Brastan10-14-04, 09:56 PM | Is it possible to apply metamagic or metapower feats to spells and replace the cost with action points? *that would so kick ass* Wat is the dragon prophecy? They may be bleak and stupid but i need to know. Action points would more likely have been a pumped up version from d20 Modern not UA. As it currently stands, No you can't expend action points to help Spells ( unless its a class ability/feat that specifically says so). Of course you can use the rules in UA as already suggested. Only the Dragons and the Hellcow (Keith) know the Prophecy . :D What we do know is that it is written in Khyber (the underdark), on Eberron, in the stars, and on the a few select humanoid races on Khorvaire. What it means, *shrug*. The worlds going to blow up? There are no bleak or stupid questions here. Not since we got moved off of the New Releases Board anyway. Ask your more stupid question Please. "Only the Hellcow knows." |
| Zerathidune10-14-04, 10:17 PM | warforged are made from a combination of metals and darkwood. the metal is used in the armor plating, and the darkwood is used in joints because it is soft and flexible. what the meaning of the prophacy is is up to the DM to decide, and since you're not one of my players, I can't make that decision for you. the gods of eberron are very far removed from the world, to the point where you can't prove that they exist (much like in the real world.) that said, I agree that more information would be usefull, especially if you particularly want to describe religious practices. I suppose you have 2 options. first, you could wait for a supplement or dragonshards article to come out further depicting religion, or second you could come up with your own details. it's youre campaign (assuming you are the DM) Eberron came out this year, 2004, the contest to find the campaign setting was held in 2002. As for the action point question, I wouldn't allow it wihtout taking a feat like the one Dr. X described. up to the DM. |
