Eberron rules! [Archive] - Wizards Community

08-09-04, 06:32 AM I'm sure there are plenty of posts like this one, but one more can't do any harm, now can it?

The Eberron CSB is the best role-playing dollar I've spent in many a year, and I feel pretty justified in saying that this setting may be the best thing to happen to D&D since 3rd edition.

I've been a die hard Greyhawk man for 20+ years, but the time has recently come to breath some new life into our role-play group. To that end I picked up the Eberron CSB on a whim and quickly fell in love. The rest of my group were a little hesitant until they actually had a look at it, and now they can't wait to start a new campaign in Eberron!

There are inovations contained within the CSB that have been sorely needed in D&D for years. I honestly believe that this will become the setting by which others are judged.

So yeah, I just wanted to gush a bit and take the time to thank Keith and the gang for putting together a quality product that I'm sure will get LOTS of use in years to come.

Now if we could just get a decent map...

I share your sentiments, exactly. And, I even did the exact same thing you did - I posted my accolades for Eberron because I too think it is such a fantastic setting. And, like you, I am an avid Greyhawker (since 1985) and very active in Living Greyhawk.

But, Eberron is so well developed and compelling, that I immediately enbraced it. My Greyhawk home campaign is over, and my Living Greyhawk days are waning.

I think Eberron testimonials are welcome. I am glad to see your post and appreciate all of the enthusiasm expressed for the ECS. Let us know how your campaign is going.

08-09-04, 01:36 PM My group has just begun the forgotten forge adventure. We are all really enjoying the feel of the Eberron setting. The intrigue is palpable everywhere and creating characters with affiliations and depth is relatively easy and somewhat believable within the setting.

08-09-04, 06:14 PM I've only been playing pen and paper RPGs around seven years (as opposed to those of you who have been playing sice before I was born,) but all the same Eberron is the breath of fresh air this community needed. My first DM brought up a whole crew of new players on Faerun. We have all stayed together and played in the same group for the last 3-4 years. Needless to say Faerun and FR got stale over the years. I'm finally DMing over my own group of young ones, and was going to run them in FR. I was plodding through my local hobby shop when I came across the Eberron book. After glancing through it, I bought the ECS and loved it. Its the best money I've spent on a non-core book. Let me tell you, its refreshing to not have everything layed out for you, and not have your players know the world. It makes the game that much more fun for both the DM and the PCs.

I've been playing D&D for about six years now (not a long time compared to some geezers =) ), and Eberron has to be one of the greatest campaign settings I have ever seen. I've been doing Greyhawk alot, and It's great, but when my DM does it, it gets a bit lame. And Forgotten Realms gets pretty stale, too, after EVERY campaign I'm in with my main DM is either in or modeled around it. With Eberron, my players are really enjoying it, because there are so many OTHER OPPORTUNITIES that are readily available besides combat. (Favorite new prestige class; Master Inquisitive) the new races are pretty bad-ass too, especially the Changelings. The setting offers up so many more opportunities at differant ways to play te same old classes we know and love. My hat's off to Eberron. :tiphat:
