Heh.. I was here and going to start this thread, but decided to wait until someone else did.

I loved the MP3's.. very evocative of their titles, and I think I shall use them my next gamenight. If the rest of them are just as good, it's definitely an added incentive to purchase the sourcebook. Great idea WotC!! :D

I love Cut to the Chase, Honey Cakes you were right it is the best one~!

Sharn city of towers was also good, but Xen drik was more jungle atmosphere than temple exploration =/ Ah well. Too bad I'm not a musician. Drow do not go "Ho ha!"

Er, will other books of areas also have music accompanying them or is Sharn: City of Towers the only one? It'd be nice to hear some music of other regions.

Oh I am a happy happy dog.

The Sharn track just begs for a Burton-esque camera sequence moving about the city and dodging bridges and things. Very Gotham. Nice! and Xen'Drik, I can just have that one on repeat in the background for just about any dungeoncrawl. Kudos!

If this is the quality of stuff we can expect, I hope each book comes with its own soundtrack. I know that I would love samples of ethnic music for Races of Eberron!

I'm listening to "Cut to the Chase" right now and I can SEE my warforged monk sprinting after an enemy while his ranger friend fires arrows! Ah! I can't WAIT for this booK! Two...long...months...*sigh*

I love the music. Can't wait to hear more :)

I second the motion for more Eberron Music in future Sourcebooks. An Eberron Original Soundtrack would be awesome

I'm surprised this hasn't been asked, but who performed this great music?

Drow do not go "Ho ha!"

Maybe not in YOUR Eberron. In my Eberron, "Ho ha!" has a deep spiritual significance in drow culture.

Whereas in mine, they just do it to scare the shards out of hapless adventurers. ;)

EDIT: And that's some excellent music there. I'm really looking forward to the Sharn book now.

When I was listening to the track drow rituals just flowed into my head. That, and giants doing some kind of tribal dance.

Hmmm... I wonder if Klaus Badelt will notice?

I am looking forward to this release and the CD so I downloaded the music mp3s and unzipped them. Started listen to the first track "Cut to the Chase" and I immediately was struck by the notion that I have heard this before. It is not note for note but it is very similar (and by very I do mean very) to "Swords Crossed" on the Pirates of the Caribbean soundtrack.

But then Badelt might have borrowed musical theme from some other piece too...

Now that you mention it, it does feel awfully similar.

But I am more alarmed by the Drow and thier strange catch phrases. Surely thier customs perplex, and astound those of us in the civilized world.

I liked the music! It has a little bit of a computer-generated sound in places, but the composition is quite good. It's clearly not just a dabbler having fun with his MIDI keyboard.

But more importantly:

"Ho ha!" being the Drow battle cry is now firmly ingrained into my consciousness. And by the power vested in me by Hellcow and the state of Rhode Island, I declare that it should become an oft-repeated inside joke by Ebbies everywhere.

As a representive of the Finnish sect of Ebbies United, I second this proposal.

There should be game rules for the use of "HO-HA!" otherwise the abuse of this joke could become rampant by PCs making snide out of character comments.

I third the motion for more Original Eberron music.

I've never used any music with my gaming sessions, but I might try it the next time I DM.

I dig it. I've been listening to those three tracks all day. I have to say, though, that "Exploring Xen'drik" is my favorite so far, as it just conjures up all kinds of "Dark Continent" imagery.

Wow! At first, I thought they would stink, but they are superb; especially with Exploring Xen'drik and Cut to the Chase. I wonder if I really should buy Sharn: City of Towers just to get the CD :D

I would rather like to see the soundtrack as a separate purchase later on, like the midnight syndicate made DnD Soundtrack.

I use music in all my gaming sessions and these three tracks are a great fit especially since we just started an Eberron campaign this past weekend. I'm looking forward to playing some campaign-themed music next time!

I love this music. Been listening to it all day while working on the K.C. I use music all the time in my games, and these three tracks will fit right in. The backbone of my stuff used to be the Temple of Elemental Evil (the new PC game) soundtrack. Now I need the Sharn book even more!

Cheers,

So, if the drow get to say "HO-HA", can I have my dwarves say "Hi-ho"?

Ho-ha! You're music is most enjoyable. We of the Drow of Xen'drik do not find your silly "Ho-ha's" funny. No...not in the slightest... Ho-ha! That is all! Be gone!

I quiet like the three samples and I am looking forward to hearing the rest.

Midnight Syndicate (http://www.midnightsyndicate.com) CDs are also quiet good (as Atlantis1982 mentioned), they have one they created using the theme of an insane asylum (GATES OF DELIRIUM).
