Our PC's have been hired on as the crew of an airship, whose home port is in Stormhome (Aundair)

They tend to fly back and forth over Scions Sound, so we set up the following encounter series:

Group encounters a bunch of skeletons futiley firing on the ship from a Gallifarian era ruins (Scions Gate Tower).

They did go down and wipe the group out, but decided not to spend the time exploring.

After they leave, the skeletons reanimate under the power of Istynach d' Valnace an undead "Watcher". And they get back to work rebuilding and repairing the tower ruins.

The Watchers were a group of mages set about the borders of Gallifar prior to the war. Bound with strong promises - they kept watch on the kingdom from outside threats with means both magical and mundane. (Granted they didn't foresee the internal strife until it was too late to warn the crown.)

The strength of that promise basically keeps reanimating the dead Watcher at Scions Gate. In turn he continues to scrap together what undead help he can to rebuild his tower, to continue the watch.

His last batch of skeletons included an undead master archer that, having very little intelligence in this state, would stop and fire on anything that approached. Looking at the wreckage that the last visitors have left, Istynach is unsure of reanimating those bones again. Eventually, he will need the help as he feels quite pressed to finish the construction and resume his duties to the crown. Besides. Dead bones don't often wander by looking for work.

As the DM I thought it would be interesting to see if the PC's notice the changes at the site, if they will become curious, how many times they will end up destroying the workforce there, etc.

If they ever strike up a conversation with the Watcher - I figure it will give me a chance to feed them interesting information about what the undead mage "sees". Perhaps a threat from the daelkyr, or an uprising of sea monsters? Maybe just mad ramblings.

I posted 'cause I thought the ruins could be placed anywhere along the coast line of Khorvaire - providing a potential subplot or random encounter for your own games.
