It has new races, a new class and new opportunities; so why shouldnt it have a "standard" party of its own? I have the most unsual party choices ever, here are some examples: -Shifter Monk (Shifter rights activist) -Elven Ranger (Olian opposer, striving to unite all sects, former Children of the Winter) -Kalashtar Soulknife (Hired Gun) -Human Cleric (Undead Obsessed, Blood of Vol Cleric) |

Granted they aren't a standard four person party but they embody the setting. For Eberron I think the 'iconic' characters, the ones synonomous with Eberron will either be from Keith's Dreaming Dark Tril or Don's Dragon Below, they always seem most popular when novel discussion is brought up. Probably a little from both, as Dragon Below has no 'forged, and no shifters show up in Dreaming Dark So Geth will be the iconic shifter, Pierce the iconic warforged for instance. I would list out the characters, but so many are unexpected additions to the 'parties' (particularly in Dragon Below) I don't want to say spoilers. |

I'd say it would consist of: Warforged Fighter or Valenar Fighter or Shifter Barbarian Changeling Rogue Human Priest of the Silver Flame Kalashtar Psion or Gnome Wizard or Cannith Artificer Shifter Druid (5th character) These would make an 'eberron iconic party' I think. There's a lot of stuff in the world so... |

There's a lot of stuff in the world so... No artificer????????     |

| Bluebrush09-17-06, 05:23 PM | Just look in the "classes" section of your Eberron Campaign Setting and, more often than not, in the big double page Wayne England illustrations. You'll note: Azm the warforged Fighter, Thondred the dwarf Artificer, Sarav the (bearded) elf Ranger and (sometimes) Baristi, the Shifter Wizard. And that's just the four main ones we see. |
| DBlizzard09-17-06, 06:36 PM | Just look in the "classes" section of your Eberron Campaign Setting and, more often than not, in the big double page Wayne England illustrations. Exactly, we have iconic Eberron characters in the Eberron book. Admittedly, we don't have much in the way of stats. Thondred the dwarf artificer Corrash the halfling barbarian Vanira the gnome bard Kuduth the half-elf cleric Janar the half-orc druid Azm the warforged fighter Kasha the human monk Thera the human paladin Halharan the kalashtar psion Sarav the elf ranger Tam the changeling rogue Ural d'Orien the human sorcerer Baristi the shifter wizard |
| Kinger09-17-06, 07:54 PM | Don't forget the others Mr. England includes in many of his illustrations. So far there's an unnamed warforged spellcaster, a dual-wielding human fighter, a Shifter Barbarian and more. However, my current vision of the iconic Eberron party is heavily tainted by my first Eberron PCs: - A changeling wizard out for chicks, money, power and chicks - A warforged fighter intent on showing the world that he is nobody's bitc- er, slave - A shifter urban ranger with an alcohol problem and mind in the gutter - A human bardy/roguey social type with a taste for adventure What makes them memorable to me is how well they play off one another. Each session feels part of a pulp serial, complete with witty banter, comradery, and frequent friendly barbs tossed amongst the PCs. |
| KingsSword09-17-06, 09:28 PM | i gotta say that i agree with what everyone has to say to this point it may be that eberron ends up with no defineing iconic heroes. but in my personal opinion it may end up being warforged fighter shifter ranger changeling rouge kalshter psion cannith artificer and then i'd say the other races would really end up being defined by their dragonmarks over their actual classes with the exception of the artificer i mean come on a new class has just got t omake it into the iconic hero category right? |
| aelryinth09-18-06, 01:45 AM | Well, I'd have a stranger list.. Gnomish Bard. Warforged Fighter. Valenar Elf Ranger. Aereni Elf Wizard. Human Paladin (silver Flame) Dwarven Fighter, Mror or House. Cannith Human Artificer. Lyrander or Aundairean Half Elf Swashbuckler. Halfling Barbarian, Talentan, or Rogue/Sharnite. Human Priest (Silver Flame) Karrnathi Knight, Human Shifter Scout Changeling Rogue Half Elven Sorceror. Human Wizard. Half Orc Druid. Probably how i'd stylize the iconics. Bad how I can't really deviate Dwarves from their classic roles. ===Aelryinth |
| The White Sorcerer09-18-06, 04:15 AM | Mr. England You're thinking of the wrong Wayne. Reynolds is the one who does the Eberron covers. As for iconics... Vanira is NOT the iconic bard. Thunvarch is! |
| Kaodi09-18-06, 10:09 PM | You could also do something like: Warforged Fighter (Cyre) Changeling Rogue (Lhazaar Principalities) Half-Elf Cleric of the Silver Flame (Thrane) Human Artificer (Breland) Shifter Ranger (Eldeen Reaches) |
| Kinger09-18-06, 10:46 PM | You're thinking of the wrong Wayne. Reynolds is the one who does the Eberron covers. As for iconics... Vanira is NOT the iconic bard. Thunvarch is! Blarg. They're both artists though, right? |
