| lukelightning03-15-05, 04:37 PM | I was thinking about the Lightning Rail and how in real life there are a lot of model train hobbyists....in Eberron, I'd imagine there are similar people who build miniature Lightning Rail toys (please, no "toy" vs. "model" debate...). This got me thinking about other possible toys in Eberron. Toy Lightning Rails and other Eberron vehicles. Dress-up changeling dolls with switchable faces. "Five Kingdoms" Strategy Board Game. Game of Houses Chess Set. Sharn, City of Towers Block Sets. Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Warforged. My Pretty Clawfoots. "Crime and Mystery." Similar to the game Clue. Skyship Kites (I've seen ship-like kites in real life). Sharnopoly. |
| Belabras03-15-05, 04:43 PM | Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Warforged. My Pretty Clawfoots. Comedy gold! Shouldn't it be Aurumopoly though? "Five Kingdoms" could be a Risk style game. What would be the analogs for Checkers or Othello? |
| Bluebrush03-15-05, 04:44 PM | My Pretty Clawfoots. But they don't have any pretty hair to comb! Sharnopoly. Where you might find yourself needing a cuboid board. |
| lukelightning03-15-05, 04:52 PM | Hmmm, I don't think the Aurum would look kindly on a game using its name...particularly given their secretive nature. But I bet if there was a "Monopoly" type game in Eberron people would make the connection... Comedy gold! Shouldn't it be Aurumopoly though? "Five Kingdoms" could be a Risk style game. What would be the analogs for Checkers or Othello? Checkers? I'd leave it just as checkers. I wonder if there would be role-playing games in Eberron? Oooh, I just got an idea for an adventure: Some upper-class youth has been LARPing a "vampire" game and gotten themselves mixed up in the Blood of Vol or something like that. OK, instead of My Pretty Clawfoots it could be My Pretty Horrid Lions (wow...they're pretty horrid alright). But you could paint the nails of the My Pretty Clawfoots. Oh, how about Gliding Glidewings? |
| zambuka03-15-05, 05:16 PM | similar people who build miniature Lightning Rail toys (please, no "toy" vs. "model" debate...). You could get two types. The simple wooden toy, built with wheels that kids drag about the place, or the more advanced type complete with real working miniature lightning stones. How about action figures of heroes from the Last War? Captain Mann: with real sword action. and his faithful sidekicks Billam the Wizard: with real magical glowing hands. Sam the Monk: now with kung fu action. Ail the Barbarian: with real barbaric yawp. as they fight the evil empire of the Garrns (changes from Karrns for political reasons) lead by the evil vampire Kass: with real glowing eyes. and a horde of skeletons and zombies (real zombie smell removed due to overwhelming requests) Edit: in Karrnath the roles are reversed. Kass and his heroic zombies fight off the depredations of Captain Mann and his evil minions. |
| Vharuck03-15-05, 05:25 PM | Karrnath toys would be something like graves out of which Karrnathi zombies in full regalia spring, ready to fight the horrid Knightly Order of the Emerald Claw. |
| KP9103-15-05, 07:30 PM | Game of Houses Chess Set. This might be closer to Chinese Checkers with all the different houses. Either that or Chinese Chekers by Country. Zilargo, Thrane, Breland, Eldeen Reaches, ect. |
| naponatom03-15-05, 08:48 PM | with changeable parts and equipment... :D |
| Demon in Shades of Gray03-15-05, 08:58 PM | magic toys would be fun... a permanently feather-falled ball could make for great games. anything capable of producing a magic image would be awesome. spider-climb, anyone? gloves and boots of spider-climb that don't work until you also put on your belt of feather-fall. lots of noise-making spells on something. for the really, REALLY rich kids, a swimming pool with a friendly water elemental bound in it. great for some water volley ball antics. building blocks that stick together in order to create awesome designs. basically, think of lots of cheap, low-level spells that could be fun. |
| Siduakal03-15-05, 09:27 PM | Prestidigitation Vacuum Unseen Servant House Cleaner (Imagine how easy Ghallanda kids had life...) |
| lukelightning03-16-05, 02:11 PM | How about a wargame like D&D Miniatures? I could see this situation: Players: "We kick down the door and enter the room." DM: "You see these on the table" (holds up miniatures of a medium fire elemental, bone devil, and mummy). Players (panicking): "I cast resist fire...I turn undead....I run away..." DM: "No, I meant literally, you find these figurines on the table... along with some dice, a map, etc." |
| _Inu_Yasha_03-16-05, 02:44 PM | heh, self referential game ... players, playing characters in a role playing game ... playing characters in a roleplaying game .... Reminds me of another games system ... the characters find themselves being controlled by higher powers, soon they find themselves entering a strange universe where they meet their players .... There was a disclaimer that went with that one ... WARNING DO NOT PLAY OUT THE CONCLUSION TO THIS CAMPAIGN WHILST UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF MIND ALTERING DRUGS tbh I can't imagine roleplaying on mind altering drugs, who would??!! anyhoo just rambling as usual ...laters... |
| Cloud Divider03-16-05, 03:11 PM | Prestidigitation Vacuum Unseen Servant House Cleaner (Imagine how easy Ghallanda kids had life...) How 'bout a Mage Hand-controlled "remote controlled wagon"? Or airship, really. Hold the little control rod, and you can drive/fly the controlled toy around. Highly limited use (only works on the toy), compared to a standard use-activated Mage Hand wondrous item. It'd probably still be pretty expensive (300gp?). Still quite a lot of money for only a toy... |
| Dragom03-16-05, 03:26 PM | WARNING DO NOT PLAY OUT THE CONCLUSION TO THIS CAMPAIGN WHILST UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF MIND ALTERING DRUGS tbh I can't imagine roleplaying on mind altering drugs, who would?!! I have heard of some interesting games that involved such. However I find that I tend to scare people and give them bad trips when I talk calmly and tell interesting stories. |

| The White Sorcerer03-17-05, 08:46 AM | My Pretty Clawfoots.Yes! |
| okaynowa03-17-05, 08:59 AM | Sharnopoly? Naw, man-- Sharnga, the Brelish equivalent of Jenga! You build up a tower using painted wooden blocks, and slowly promote the lower wards higher and higher until the whole social structure comes tumbling down. 'Sides, the game of economic conquest should be Mroropoly. And there should be Shifter plushies. |
| shadowpavement03-17-05, 09:16 AM | Man, what would the Eberron equivilent of Magic CCG be? Player 1 - "I Tap 3 khyber shards and 1 sibrys shard and play my living fireball card." Player 2 - "Awwww man, The game just hasn't been the same since the Mournlands set came out." |
| Zedium03-17-05, 09:33 AM | Gathering: The Magic, has real magical cards that are capable of summoning a tiny Silent Image of the monster several time a day. Skyship modelling kits! "My-first-zombie" by Sharnerprice (best selling item in Karrnath) Play-Ooze Tickle-me-Vol Sharn Shopping Barbie |

| Demon in Shades of Gray03-17-05, 11:39 AM | Or is that regular warforged with a really really big book? Unless you know someone with a really big hammer, that nail over to the left kind of places the size. |
| zambuka03-17-05, 05:20 PM | Unless you know someone with a really big hammer, that nail over to the left kind of places the size. Unless of course he is raiding an ancient giant's library in the ruins of Xen'drik. |
| zambuka03-17-05, 05:29 PM | 'Sides, the game of economic conquest should be Mroropoly. Why would Monopoly be called something different? A monopoly is still a monopoly regardless of where or what it is a monopoly of. It's not like the different versions we have are called things like NewYorkopoly, or Londonopoly, or Starwarsopoly, or Middleearthopoly. I see it set in Sharn where you buy up all the districts. Cliffside being the lowest value and Skyway being the highest. |
| okaynowa03-18-05, 07:52 AM | Because Mroropoly sounds funny. Actually, just "Mror" itself sounds funny. Mror, Mror, Mror. What's the MGM lion do? Mror! |
| Demon in Shades of Gray03-18-05, 12:41 PM | What's the MGM lion do? Mror! |

Remember that bishops were called "ships" until fairly recently. I LOVE Hungry Hungry Hippogriffs. :) My Pretty Clawfoots. But they don't have any pretty hair to comb! Says who? ;) Don't forget the flutter-clawfoots. Okay, for my own suggestions... If Happy Fun Airship starts to smoke or glow leave the immediate area and clear a mile radius. Happy Fun Airship is made from starmetal. and there were so many more. If I only remembered them all! |
