Eberron: The Fanfic. Casting Call [Archive] - Wizards Community

Post/Author/DateTimePost
The White Sorcerer

05-18-04, 06:24 PM
I got an idea while posting on another thread: As soon as the ECS comes out, I'm going to start writing fanfic featuring Ebbies from the boards. I'm going to post it someday.

The project is called, for now, "The Collected Hijinks of the Fellowship of the Jolly Carcass Crab". I'm going to do a casting call now. Pretty much anyone can become a part of story.

The cast is, currently, as follows (assuming that the people mentioned below approved):

Da Heroes
Stone Dog, warforged juggernaught.
Singing Urgrosh, his trusty weapon.
The White Sorcerer, comic relief gnome artificer who claims to be a sorcerer.
Mad Mink, shifter monk.
Jedi the Shield Basher, kalashtar warrior who is strong in the Force.

Da Other Good Guys
Myriddin, the Fizban/Merlin fusion.

Da Villains
Harmony's Sorrow, a 1st-level wizard antagonist.

The heroes will propably be relatively high level, but they won't be movers and shakers. They'll be wacky characters with wacky hijinks.

If interested, you can post here or PM/e-mail me.

Let the casting call begin!
Harmony's Sorrow

05-18-04, 06:37 PM
And I'll always be there... waiting... lurking... as soon as that would be hero walks away from a tough fight... thinking well of him/herself... bearing mighty wounds... I'll be there. I'll be watching. I'll be releasing me readied magic missile spell to finally know a glory of my own!!!
Singing Urgosh

*In his best fat guy from the Cyborg Dungeon voice*
Best cast..ever.

Now, to make sure you capture my essence fully, I will give you some pointers to work with.

Singing Urgosh- Intelligent Item

+3 Weapon
Adamantine
Animated Object-can fly within 30ft of Stone Dog
Keen (all faces/heads)

Chaotic Alignment
Int= 14
Wis= 11
Cha= 22 (yeah) or maybe 16
Ego= 16 - 19 (I think??)
Bardic Music Ability (15lvl Bard abilities)
Bardic Knowledge Ability (+17)
Perform- Singing +18
Tumble- +12
Sense Motive- +16
Knowledge- Bad jokes +12
Speak Language- Quor, Common, Draconic
Appraise- +8

Singing Urgosh as Stone Dog refers to him is a +3 Adamantine Urgosh with both the keen and animated object enchantments. As 'Singing Urgosh' has tried to point out to Stone Dog, he was not always a weapon but used to be a great Quori bard who for transgressions against the prince’s fiancée was entombed in this metal prison.

Singing Urgosh still retains some of his former class abilities and is a wealth of useless knowledge and bad, bad jokes. He takes every opportunity he can find (sometimes inappropriately) to burst into song in his pitch perfect tenor vibrato. When not singing, Singing Urgosh can usually be heard humming, whistling or floating along next to Stone Dog as though dancing to some unheard musical tune.

In combat, Singing Urgosh can be a little reluctant to get himself dirty, and will occasionally free himself from Stone Dog’s grasp so that he can hide behind the big brute. It is in these situations however that he ply’s his bardic music ability to further enhance Stone Dog’s already formidable combat abilities. When singing in combat, the songs are usually some form of Quori Opera, similar in sound to Turandot or Ride of the Valkeries.

Singing Urgosh also acts as Stone Dog’s Social Educator, and tries to impart upon him information on how to act in civilised situations. To this end Singing Urgosh has been somewhat successful, with Stone Dog displaying a humorous mix of mimicry and improvisation similar to what Arnie as the T1000 does in T2 when trying his ‘best’.

Anyway, that should do for now. Although I will have to work out what sort of relationship Singign Urgosh has with the White Sorcerer, you know, him being a trusty sidekick and all.

So where do you fit in? Let the cast know about you and your place in the world/party and lets get behind TWS (not like that) and his merry crusade of frolicking fun.

Stay sane

I Suggested my character in the other thread. I want to be the grumpy shifter monk who talks big but never gets around to doing anything important.....ever.

If backed into a corner, my (as yet unamed) shifter will inevitibly mutter something about "instincts" "uncontrollable" and "don't push me" Aside from acting like a big-shot, my monk is overly fond of eating and drinking, easier to distract than most toddlers, and will never be found training, working out, or doing anything that could concievably earn him an honest wage. One of these days, someone is going to cross that line and get their face-eaten. Really, it'll happen. Get off his back already. ;)

Your monk sonds pretty damn funny....er...um..I mean cool yeah, cool. *hopes Mad Miso the lazy arse monk didn't pick up on the sarcasm*

I could just see him eating a taco while Stone Dog is off whoopin some ass, his Singing Urgosh hiding behind him belting out a classic Quori opera and TWS looking for an opening to ply his 3 magic missles for the day. Hehehe, classic spaghetti Eberron.

Jedi The Sheild Basher, a Kalashtar Psychic Warrior. He weilds two Brilliant Energy Bodyfeeder heavy steel spiked sheilds. He uses many force, I mean telekinetic powers. He doesn't care or cares too much. He also suffers from some minor ADHD.

If you're still taking auditions here's my entry.

Irrik (pronounced like ear-rick) Ironhelm. He's a Dwarf fighter (wow, surprise, surprise). Despite his racial heritage he's very friendly and loves to tell tall-tales. The only real way to offend him is to call him a liar. In his stories he is just repeating what a friend of a friend of a friend whose brother actually saw it said happened. In battle he wields his trusty heavy pick.

Hmmm....I'd improvise some character stats, but I don't have the issue of dragon that covers shifters. I'll just give a general description and overview.

Mad Mink: Mad Mink is a shifter, who claims to be descended from an extinct line of fearsome Lycanthrope Minks, who were the first to be eliminated by the Church of the Silver Flame, because of the great danger they posed to the entire continent of Khorvaire.

Spreading rumours to the effect that they were actually hunted for their beautiful fur coats and and relative lack of fighting ability will not be tolerated. Those who persist in this activity will be on the receiving end of a demonstration of weasely prowess and ferocity that will cripple their bodies and haunt their dreams for the rest of their earthly life........someday. Just shut up already.

Physically, Mad Mink is of slightly-below average height, with a thin, wiry build. He has dark brown eyes, and hair so beautiful that people frequently feel compelled to run their hands through it. MM does not appreciate being petted. Although he stoicly endures this activity by pretty women who give him free food.........and he never makes purring noises. You're friggen delusional and obviously imagining things. He has a narrow, feral looking face with traces of fur here and there.

Although Mad Mink is short tempered, jumpy, unfocused, and altogether in desperate need of de-caff, he sometimes moves with suprising speed and grace. He somehow manages to almost never get hit by anyone, often leaving his opponents a little unsure if he actually dodged their attack, or they simply missed. Strangely, his superhuman defense weakens considirably against women, children, and anything that could get in his hair or splatter over his face.

Theoritically, Mad Mink could utilize his animal instincts and unatural speed to destroy his opponents. In theory. One is yet to encounter any living creature who have witnessed Mad Mink utilizing his monkly prowess in any useful way, much less fighting anything.

While frequently distracted by bright shiny items, Mad Mink is in paticular a ravenous and messy eater. He has a keen sense of smell, often shifting himself a canine like snout in order to root out the BBEG's sweets pantry.

For an overview of his personality, see my above post. :D

I am so not sure how to take this. Maybe later once I have recovered from pulling a double shift I'll be able to filter a response though the haze... I am leaning towards the 'cool' end of the spectrum though, even though I am kinda creeped out that I made a warforged fighter/barbarian called Stone Dog a while ago... I don't remember posting about it... Hmmmm...

That's my bad Stoney. I was comparing you in greatness to the famous (infamous?) Drizz't and next thing I know you (and your highly powerful Singing Urgosh) are being cast in lead roles in some sort of online fanfic!

As for Stone Dog actually being a Warfoged Barbarian I remember you posting it waaaay back on the upcomming releases board just after the Warforged were revealed. I think...?

Anyway, I don't mind. And if you do......pfft. :)

Sorry WS, I didn't read your description carefully enough....you only 'pretend' to be a sorcerer, got it.

Or how about the time that Stoney was playing with your wand of magnetism and brought down that airship right on top of himself..

Or when that pesky sorcerer showed up and blasted Stoney with a grease spell. Man, he hase never been able to move so quick as what he did for the week following that, and the relief from the constant sqeeking, ahhh....

Or how about that time when you were trying to strip down that psionic sword and it ended up dissapating your breeches.....oh man that was funny...

Or what about......[blah, blah,blah,blah]

He could keep this up for hours...stay sane

Oooh, ooh me!! Wise old but loopy a Wizard/druid who wanders in spouting riddles as advice then wanders out. A man with an eye for the ladies and personality that sends them running for the hills! (think Merlin from Excalibur)
MavrickWeirdo

05-19-04, 09:53 AM
Mavrick (he is called a weirdo behind his back) is an older Human Artificer who specializes in making astrolabe (Although techically they are Astrialabe).

He has made them for so long he considers himself a "Sage of the Spheres". He loves to talk at length about how the planes work, and how they affect the world, but what he explaines seems to change every time he tells it.

He swears that he can describe the character of an individual based on the position of the planes at the time and date of their birth. He calls this art "Ebbroscopes".

I'm in? Woo-hoo! Adventure ideas? lets see.......(Just using my character for now)

1. Mad Mink manages to **** off that guy. You know, the one guy in town everyone just knows that you don't mess with. He begins argueing with him over something trivial, and before anyone else knows whats happening, he's telling the local Big scary dude that any one of his buddies could take him out "With both hands tied behind their back"(ever helpful, he even produces rope) He would take care of it himself of course, but ahhh.....he hasn't eaten lunch yet. Maybe later. *Pushes jedi in front* Will the Fellowship Survive? Is Jedi doomed? Who the hell eats grilled cheese sandwhiches while watching their buddy get mauled? Stay tuned!

Hmmm....I'll have more, but I have to think about it a bit. I wonder what Hell-cow's thinking about now?;)

Here's another one: Getting word of a fabulous wealth making oppourtunity across the continent, the fellowship pours all of their remaining funds into purchasing a lightning-rail ticket. Unfortunately, due to whacky unforseen events(so many possibilities ) the Heroes miss their stop, and find themselves stranded. They have only 36 hours to somehow raise enough money for a new ticket and make it to their appointment. Will they make it? How low can they go?

Not to speak for TWS, but more villians would probably be helpful, if anyone else is looking to get involved.

05-19-04, 11:34 AM
How about this?

Derrik Thickskull, the bald, non-bearded dwarf rogue/fighter, who whole-heartedly believes that he can sneak past anything wearing full plate and carrying a spiked chain. "Yeah, they can 'ear the ra'les and clanks, but they never know where they're coming from, do they? Tha's psychological warfare, tha' is!"

How about that time the fellowship was in that ancient temple in Xen'drik and they had to get past that hallway of swinging scythe traps? Derrik horribly failed his Disable Device check and the entire trap complex got set off, making the hallway impassable. So Derrik just whipped out his spiked chain, looped it around the nearest scyth and pulled, jamming the mechanisms and allowing everyone past. Of course, the scythes were charged with electricity damage. The dwarf still doesn't have any hair on his body ... actually, anywhere, for that matter.

Bookwyrm

05-19-04, 12:32 PM
The Bookwyrm, a wandering Talenta halfling who earns his gold pieces (assuming currency on Eberron is measured in gold pieces) as a bard and loremaster of some minor renown.
Harmony's Sorrow

05-19-04, 12:47 PM
The bard this notorious villain must crush, because aside from my personality strength, assets, and nearly infinite hireling henchman... he knows that once they're routed and my magic missile for the day is cast, I am truly nothing!
ieattrollsforbreakfast

05-19-04, 02:07 PM
One of Harmony's 'infinite' henchmen, a shifter barbarian from somewhere in the Talenta plains (no one has ever stopped to ask him where he is from exactly), clings on to his shifter heritage much more than any other shifter might.
Appearing as a feral humanoid with long, matted hair and sideburns, he leads other guards in protecting his master's abode.
If you actually talked to him, you would learn that he believes himself to be decended from some kind of shapeshifting, barbaric dragon rather than from a lycanthrope. Its not true, but he likes to think it is..it makes him seem more intimidating.
The most unusual aspect of this shifter is his name. He constantly changes his name, and sometimes he removes his name altogether in favour of a phrase which sums up his achievements.
Recently, he defeated a troll, and when asked what he though of the giants, he simly repied "Trolls? I eat trolls for breakfast!".
It was this phrase that gave him his latest name...Trolleater.

I don't know alot about the locations of eberron so I'll skip wheres he is from. Ill repost/edit it after I get the book. Ill do the rest after I get the book.

Heres the metagamey goodness: He is going to be a straight fighter all the way. Using his stardard character feats for shifter feats or feats that assist him while shifted. I assume Extra Lycan Characteristic can only be taken once, so his extra characteristic will be Armored. Will take Shifter Denfense when he can.

He is going to be an agile fighter focusing on finesse instead of brute strength. Always ligthly armored and wielding a longsword. He is quite and composed, an observant person by nature never speaking unless he has too. Keep his black hair in thin braids and keeps his sideburns shaved or at least trimmed. Trys not to get involved in things unless he has too, and thats why he just watches as Mad Mink with interest trying to understand what makes him tick.

Make the magic happen White Sorcerer, and please be kind to him.

Hmm, some charecter fleshing out for my guy. He usually has no idea what-so-ever of what the **** is going on, not even the slightest. He's very clumsy, tripping over things(particularly that annoying singing urgosh). He tends to be at odds with the monk, who seems to get Jedi into even more trouble than he gets himself into(witch he does alot actually, wrong thing at the wrong time). He finds the wierd little gnome funny, often making comments about lawn ornaments in his presence. His mind, while a strong weapon, can hardly stay focused long enough to manifest anything more than the simplest powers. He is distracted very easily, and it gets worse when hes actually trying to concetrate. Also for some reason he is cursed by the one and only(and higly improbable) Living Presdadigiation mentioned in an above post.

On another note: Should we make Hellcow a charecter???? A feidish cow could be a very funny companion, especially with all the table scraps he leaves.
Mad Miso

05-19-04, 04:20 PM
I've thought about doing Hellcow, but I figured I'd give him a chance to pop in and give his opinion first.

Hmmm.....we seem to have a lot of shifters now. I guess it'll balance out in the long run, but don't forget that Eberron has plenty of unique races availible *cough* changling *cough*.

Jedi looks like he'll be a lot of fun.
Flame_Drake

05-19-04, 04:23 PM
Drake, CG changling pison looking to become a pyromancer and has a major thing with fire (hence his nickname Flame). I'll give stats once I check the disapline of control flame.

He started in a remote changling monestry searching for enlightenment. He soon began to find answers when a shack caught fire and he plunged in to save the people inside and was enlightened (he brought everyone out unharmed by the flames). Soon after he became restless and left the monks as friends.

I'll give a more in depth background once I know more about the changling history. :r:

Kizaf is a somewhat insane but harmless Warforged. You see Kizaf is an artificer and a philosopher, and he has the unfortunate tendency to combine the two. Sometimes this comes with hazardous results (either for him or the people around him).

The way he combines them? You see, as any good philosopher (atleast according to him) he seeks the meaning of life, and Kizaf is very fond of practical experimentation.

This can mean that he might fall down a cliff testing a new jumping ring or the new feather fall ring in the hopes of experiencing the feeling of "beeing" wich he believes will logicaly lead to finding the clue to solving the meaning of life.

Or he might test a pair of enchanted wings and take to the skies for "freedom", while completely forgetting that the wings only work for a limited amount of time per day.

Kizaf is otherwise a pleasant person to be around with his carefree atitude and allmost rolling voice. He also plays a few instruments (badly) and is working on creating a few small construct helpers.

Here's another little villian for Harmony:

Gurglenash- Goblin rogue/ninja (whatever they are)

Gurglenash is small, I mean real small. He is so small that he has been known to fit inside the boots of his targets where he waits for them to shove thier unprotected feet right onto his nasty little poison coupe de grae dagger.

Gurglenash has drawn a fearsome reputation as a very stealthy and slippery character which is only enhanced by the abnormal skin secretions that he produces which coat him in a very greasy and very smelly layer of goblin oil (hence why he hides in boots to cover his smell).

The current target of Gurglenash is that dreaded monk Mad Mink, although by virtue of his onkish abilities he is immune to Gurglenash's poison and Gurglenash would never dream of taking on Mad Mink in a straight fight.....cause he just might get hurt.

One of his more insidious to make his job easier backfired when TWS walked into a living prestidigitation trap that was intended for Mad Mink. This living trap was meant to keep mad Mink at such distraction that Gurglenash could sneak in and plant his cold steel blade right between his ribs. Oh well, at least it has proved amusing to watch TWS contend with the distraction of the living trap whilst casting. All in all, Gurglenash's plan may just work out perfectly.....
Singing Urgosh

Damn the double post..NOoooooooooooo!!

Oh well, time for another baddy to add to the list:

Jade is a female Warforged (or maybe a male warforged who plays dressups?) Fighter/Bard. Her (its) priamry role in the armed forces was to act as an iniltrator/decoy to enemy Warforged forces and lure thier attention away so that smarter troops could avoid their position, sneak into the camps or get out of jail for free.

When the war ended Jade found herself out of a job until approached by Harmony to try and win over the affections of a Warforged known as Stone Dog. Jade does not know why Harmony wants this done, nor does she really care. All that she wants is to have Warforged males once again fawning over her for attention.

To her credit she has meet with and seduced Stone Dog once, although having to find a way to rid ones armoured carapce of Kylusion Sand Mites in the middle of small city was an embarassment he does not want to revisit. Jade has become somewhat enamoured by Stoney who is the only male that has been able to turn her down. Therefore she relentlessly track Stoney and the party where ever they go, collecting up any tidbits that Stoney may leave behind as they were obviously 'gifts' that he left behind for her. So far she has a broken index finger, kneecap, armspike and a small vial of his internal lubricant...oooooh.

Well, if you're going to do potential villians, I'll throw one in. Note, this character is still unamed because I'm the worst name-maker guy in all the known universe. If you like him, feel free to suggest a name. For now, I'll just call him "Ned".

Ned is a young Changeling with few redeeming features. He's annoying, he's ugly, he's not the brightest streetlight in Sharn, and his self-esteem is below sea level. He spent his entire miserable childhood nursing the flame of his bitterness into a raging inferno of hate.

It didn't take Ned long to discover the ultimate path to revenge. By taking the form of his hated rivals, he could run their reputation into the ground. It isn't pretty work, but his effectiveness soon became renowned. Whether it was flunking the tests of promising young lawyers, breaking up young lovers, or doing inpromptu monkey-esque striptease routines before the royal family, Ned quickly gained a reputation as a very different sort of "assasin".

The fellowship of the jolly-carcass crab is his next contract, and Ned enjoys his work a little too much, if anything. He could show up anytime, anywhere, making you look like a flaming idiot behind your back. Beware of Ned.:smirk:

I think you mean Jedi not TWS, he's the one cursed by the insidieous living prestidigitation.

And if we're making badguys I'll throw my hat into the ring. The infamous Lighting Bug! Not much is known about him, only that he is a dromite(electricity), and he is likes ceilings. He however is known for causing more damage to property than his targets. This has gotten him in trouble countless times with his employers, especially his most common employer-Harmony.

Another villian for you.

King Ogre His Majesty is an ogre barbarian in charge of a small ragtag group of humanoids who loot and pillage caravans and small towns. He isn't that bright, but he tends to smash anyone of his minions who oppose his rule. His fellowers tend to be goblins, orcs, ogres and trolls.
Flame_Drake

Sorry for taking so long TWS for this detail. Drake has lived in Sharn for most of his life and has work with many underground projects that required spies, due to his race and abilities. He has an even greater ability for languages then most changlings and serves as a translator to middle-classed people. He loves freedom for all and insits the the church of the silver flame puts an end to the persecution of shifters.

What a great idea you have, I'd love to be a part of it if possible. Here's some info. on my character:

Moralou Alasculptin: He comes from a line of sculpture artists that often do works for churches, town squares, museums and historcial commemorations and person benefit. Moralou's expensive career choice has made him rather obsessed with money and he tries to gain any monetary advantage as long as it does not cross his loose morals. The sculputure aspect and dedicated nature of his family eventually started to shape the minds differently hence Moralou was born with psionic ablities specialized in metacreativy creation powers.

Moralou uses his power of mind and scupting ability to create gruesome astral constructs that would strike the fear in any humanoid army.

Moralou funny stories:

Monkey Moralou: He once had an idea of a small hand fig. but had no money at the time to make it. To gain quick monetary benefits in a tarvern he danced like a monkey for some drunk patrons.

Quotes:

"I'm not meticulous, I just care."
"Hold on, I'm not quite finished with it's wings just yet."
"Greetings traveler, I dance like a monkey for gold."
"Excuse me, do you know the muffin man?"
