Um, it might help if you would define "MUSH".

Multi-User Shared Hallucination, which is a variety of Multi-User Dungeon. MUDs, MUSHes, MUCKs, MOOs and the like (refered to by the generic term MU*) are something akin to a cross between those old Zork Text-Adventure games and a chatroom. Esentially, it's a text-based Multiplayer Online RPG (I've left off the term Massive, that you usually see with those other terms, to make up the acronym MMORPG, as unlike your World of Warcrafts and your Everquests, MU*s typically don't have more than a hundred people connected at any one time).

Okay, MUDs I understand. Just never heard it referred to as a MUSH before though.

If a text based game is all you want, its commonly referred to around these parts as a PbP game, or a Play by Post. Best place out there for PbP games is www.rpol.net

Play by Post lacks the real-time interaction that a MU* can provide. Of course, real-time is sometimes overrated.

You've got more time to stop and really think about what your character would say or do. Live real time games are easy enough to do over something like AIM (especially since AIM chat has a built in dice roller), but I find they are much harder to keep focused, and the roleplaying takes a hit because you have to come up with something on the spot, get it all typed up, and hit enter before somebody else says something that totally nullifies it.

I'm with you on that one, Edymnion. I do my best stuff in PBP, where I have time to think about my responses and do some solid writing first.

If you're looking for a game (either as a player or a DM), then the board you're looking for is the =>RPG Gamer Classified<= (http://boards1.wizards.com/forumdisplay.php?f=347).

The Classifieds board is the ONLY place on these forums where a request/solicitation for games/gamers won't get locked.

I'm with you on that one, Edymnion. I do my best stuff in PBP, where I have time to think about my responses and do some solid writing first.Yeah, you have no idea how many times I've typed out what I want my character to say, gone back to read it and went "That sounds like crap, there's gotta be a better way to put that...", or gotten to the end, read it over, and realized thats not really where I wanted to take it in the first place.

PbP lets you stop and really think about what you're doing, because you can afford to take your time. A post every 5 minutes is very fast for PbP game, so you know you can spend that extra minute or two to make sure thats what your character would really do/say, and not just an off the cuff reaction you as a player are making.
