Eberron/Reconstruction era parallels [Archive] - Wizards Community

07-31-04, 01:25 PM Reading through the sourcebook, it seemed to me like there were strong and intentional parallels between Eberron and the post-Civil War United States--the emancipated slave race seeking to find a place and acceptance from a wary populace, the overall level of technology, the "savage" races on the edges of civilization...

Does anyone know if Keith has discussed his inspirations? It's hardly critical, but I'd be curious to know if he's an enthusiast for Civil War-era history, and if so, how much it influenced his thinking.

If memory serves correctly the last war ended on the eleventh day of the eleventh month.

07-31-04, 07:32 PM Actually, you will find that the parallelism with the real world much more closely resembles that of the era following World War One. This is when pulp fiction really took off, and characters like Indiana Jones would find that they fit equally well fighting Nazis or warforged.
