Emerald Claw questions [Archive] - Wizards Community

09-01-05, 04:18 PM In any of the published works, are there any PrCs having to do with the Emerald Claw?

Such as Knight of the Emerald Claw?

If not, what about custom ones?

failing that, what PrC would you say most closely captures the flavor?

09-01-05, 04:46 PM No official Emerald Claw PrC's to this point. My recommendation would be to adapt any PrC's that deal with undead. Necromantic PrC's would fit perfectly. Additionally, the Emerald Claw uses many spies who are not known to be affiliated with the organization, and most martial PrC's would also work within the organization. With some minor adaptation, the Bone Knight PrC from Five Nations would work well as a champion of the Emerald Claw.

Just some thoughts. :)

09-01-05, 06:01 PM If you really want to put some PrCs on the Emerald claw, here's my thoughts.

The Emerald Claw are essentially an underground military unit. They have warriors and fighters, along with clerics and wizards, all trained in battle formation and tactics. The Emerald Claw are like the SS with swords and spells. The clerics will be second line, right behind the fighters with heals, likely wielding pole-arms to hit over the warriors' shoulders. Spellcasters are going to be in armor or well guarded behind archers and a guard.

But usually they use warriors - the real military placement are for heavy duty action.

PrCs:
Blackguard (DMG)
Eldrich Knight (DMG)

Thayan Knight (Complte Warrior)
Spellsword (Complete Warrior)

Boneknight (Five Nations)

The following are found in Libris Mortis, book of the Undead:
Death's Chosen (Biggie)
Pale Master
True Necromancer
Master of the Shroud
Dirge Singer

In addition to PrCs, here's some non-core classes that might work:
Hexblade (Complete Warrior)
Battle Sorc or Warmage (Unearthed Arcana and Complete Arcane)
Warlock
