| Makabriel03-04-05, 11:02 AM | ********Possible spoilers abound******* So I'm having troube wraping my head around the control panels in the Whitehearth facility. They are in round rooms that rotate depending on where the key is placed. 1: Is the control panel on a pedestal of some kind and if so, then does the pedestal remain in the center of the room? Do the walls have grooves to keep the pedestal from moving? I want to say no, because of the rooms that have openings in the top and bottom.. 2: Is the control panel in the wall/ceiling/floor? If so, then it would take some feats of acrobatics to open certain doors... 3: Is the control panel "magically suspended" in the middle of the room so it is not affected by the room's rotations? Any DMs care to explain it to me how you explained it to your players? |

And I would agree, except for the one room with the portal that opens in the floor... |
| Altaris03-04-05, 02:12 PM | I treated them all as spherical, with a pedestal in the center of the 'floor.' If you recall, each was is 'stepped' inside. The room rotates rather slowly, so you 'step' as necessary to maintain your balance. Sort like a gerbal in a big ball when you sent them to run around a room. :D And yes, they were engineering marvels. This was once one of House Canniths premier facilities. They were researching an eldritch machine that could destroy entire towns from miles away (ex: Rose Quarry.) LRMs anyone? |
| Makabriel03-04-05, 03:34 PM | So did the pedestal move with the floor? IE, in the first room, the door is on top, the pedestal is on the bottom. When the door switched to the west, the pedestal would then be on the eastern wall. I'm going to treat it like a yoyo. The pedestal is the "string" and the sphere rotates around it. So there are slivers of the room that do not move, but the rest does.. |
