| Y.A.P.10-19-05, 08:17 PM | On pg. 32 of ECS it states "An artificer gains every item creation feat as a bonus feat at or near the level at which it becomes available to spellcasters." MoE has Etch Schema classed as an Item Creation Feat. Prereq is Caster Level 10. An Artificer normally gains no abilities or feats on 10th level. There is no mention in MoE how this new feat fits in with the existing Artificer advancement or availabilties. Should Etch Schema be an automatic level 10 bonus for an Artificer? |
| Kennian10-19-05, 08:30 PM | they dont get all the item creation feats for free... no bind elementals or craft construct for free... just the basic stuff.. etch schema would be a extra feat |
| Brastan10-19-05, 08:36 PM | Caster level 10 is odd for an Artificer but it works just fine for a Wizard who gets a feat at that level. The only errata I could see on it would be to make it an Artificer Bonus feat much like how fighters get more feats. The Bonus crafting feats are from the PHB. You don't see craft Contingent Spell for CA on the list. If you want your Artificer to be the best item maker you'll have to spend some feats on it. They get a better starting base than most because of the feats they get for free. There is nothing that says an Artificer has inherent knowledge of all crafting practices. They actually go looking for new crafting methods, its one of their motivations to adventure. |
| Edymnion10-19-05, 09:29 PM | No, as was said, there are creation feats that the artificer doesn't get. There's no reason to retroactively add this to their list when they already get so much. Make 'em spend a normal feat on it. |
| Euangelion10-20-05, 12:27 AM | As an artificer gets a bonus feat every 4 levels in addition to their automatic item creation feats, I would allow the artificer to take Etch Schema with their 12th level bonus feat, even though it obviously isn't mentioned in the list of feats that can be taken with those bonus feats in the ECS. (My apologies if this was mentioned in the feat description; I don't have the book yet. And additional apologies to Brastan if this is what you meant by your "make it an Artificer Bonus feat much like how fighters get more feats" suggestion.) |
| DarkWarriorKarg10-20-05, 06:50 AM | CL 10? The Artificer emulates that at level 8... in a way... |
| Jagermeister10-20-05, 10:32 AM | CL 10? The Artificer emulates that at level 8... in a way... The Artificer emulates spells for item creation, not feats, according to the class description. The only nonspell item requirements the Artificer can emulate are alignment and race. It then states that he cannot emulate skill or feat requirements. |
| thebassu10-20-05, 09:13 PM | Could someone kindly give a brief explanation of what can be done with the feat Etch Schema? Or cut-n-paste from the MoE book. Do you creat a schema, or direct an existing schemas' inherent power, or what? Thanks |

Do you creat a schema, or direct an existing schemas' inherent power, or what? Thanks No, see the CoC(Code of Conduct). Don't ask again for a 'cut and past'. It is an item creation feat so you make schema with it. This was in the first post by the way. Buy or skim MoE at your local gaming shop and learn more. |
| thebassu10-20-05, 11:24 PM | Ahhh. yes. All appologies for the C-n-P comment. But, just to **** you off since you are already in a bad mood... Since there are no MoF books in my part of the country, the feat Etch Schema does not actually exist. I'd like to propose a new Feat that I would take at either 10th or 12th level. I'll call it Etch Schema. It allows a character to place a spell of up to 5th level in it and then release that spell at a latter time without incuring attacks of opportunity. Or, perhaps someone has designed a similar feat that we could use/debate over instead? I mean seriously, every other Metamagic and Item Creation feat is defined in explicit detail on this form. BTW, "This was in the first post"...where? On pg.
