Hello folks,

it´s just me, again, and i got another little problem waiting to be solved:
One of my players ( my wife, diana, actually) wants to buy an everbright lantern. And i confess her demand is over my head. How much does a permanent light spell cost??? I tried by myself using DMGuide and failed miserably. So please, people help me. Would ya ???

Sincerely Yours

Everbright lanterns don't use light, they use continual flame. Furthermore, the price for an everbright lantern (which is slightly different from a regular everburning torch because of the Eberron shard) is listed right in the ECSB on pg 265, 212 gp.

Not that I'm challenging this.
It has been mentioned (by the designers, possibly Keith) that the people creating the everbright lanterns was the magewrights.
Continual flame is not a magewright spell.
I believe an errata is in order for this.
The selling price is low enough, to not worry about it.
It’s also not to high to worry about it either. (light is only 0-level spell)

He addressed that problem in a Dragonshards article, when he added that spell to their list.

Sieng as at this time we're getting Dragonshards instead of Errata, I think that will sufice. But a nice big, all in one spot eratta wouldn't hurt.

I was wondering where I read this.
Thanx :)
I forgot what was changed, the spell list or the item spell :)

I've got another issue with Everbright Lanterns. It "combines the effect of a continual flame spell with an Eberron shard..." My question is why waste an Eberron shard to create an Everbright Lantern? Why not cast a continual flame spell on a pebble and put that inside a lantern?

Everbright lanterns can't be permanently dispelled?

Because if they did that they couldn't get 212 GP for them.
Kinda like Nike Shoes vs. Wal-Mart Shoes.

Everbright lanterns can't be permanently dispelled?

Yes this is true, as it counts as a full wonerous item, it would be hindered for 1d4 rounds on a succesful dispel magic.

an everburnig torch, or a continual flame enspelled pebble is just a spell effect that will be permanantly dispeled.
This is as per the dispel magic spell rules.
