Explorer's Handbook and WE Eberron Map [Archive] - Wizards Community

12-20-06, 05:15 PM I was looking through the Explorer's Handbook and the Web Enhancement of the Map of Khorvaire.

In Explorer's Handbook, it lists that the Lightning Rail distance between Sharn and Wroat is 212 miles.

The map shows that it is closer to twice that, 417 miles.

Has there been any other talk about this error and which one is correct? I need to know for my game. Any links provided to other threads about this would be helpful.

Visually, however I would assume that the map is the correct one, and would use that unless something semi-official is quoted.

It mentions in the section on Breland that the Lightning Rail traveling from Wroat to Sharn is 450 miles.

So, is which of the three are correct?

A. The map of Eberron on the Wizard's website. (417)
B. The listing of distances in the Explorer's Handbook (212)
C. Five Nations listing of Breland's lightning rails (450)

01-01-07, 05:51 PM When in doubt, I usually use the most recent source, in this case Explorer's Handbook.

01-01-07, 06:10 PM Well, two of the measurements are reasonably close to each other. Call it 430 miles, with trains making better or worse time depending on weather and amount of traffic at stations, and it should work.

Can't recall right now, but have you checked if pther distances add up?

Mainly I was wanting to know if there was just a misprint in the Explorer's Handbook that cut the distance in half between Wroat and Sharn.

I decided to use the Web Enhancement Eberron Map for all of my distance calculations, as that seems to be at least given some effort in making out of the three. (Five Nations looks like they just rounded it up, and Explorer's Handbook is way off).

I was mainly hoping that somewhere on the threads the WizOs might have gone "Oh, sorry, here's the right answer..." instead of wasting time printing errata until they have all the mistakes found.
