| Chaotix4208-26-05, 02:07 PM | What's up with the map gallery for the ExH? I don't think any of those maps are in the book... And they're cool-looking too! And so small-sized... not only am I confused, I'm frustrated! I want those maps in my book!  + = me. |
| Miles08-26-05, 02:22 PM | Agreed. Along with some descriptive text. Or maybe something new and novel...a web enhancement! Miles. |
| Brastan08-26-05, 02:35 PM | Touchy. About half of them are in the book, half aren't. They are the maps for the location points of travel. It's an additional image gallery. I'm surprised that these were added give a separate entry instead of just being lumped with the rest of the books images. Yes a slightly better image quality would have been nice so some text was more legible. However I'm not going to get mad over it. (Oh and thanks for not linking :) ) Link (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/ag/20050826b) |
| ralixgaudreau08-26-05, 02:38 PM | I just flipped through my recently-acquired copy of the Explorer's Handbook, and I didn't see *any* of the maps from the online map gallery in the book. I was quite confused (and came here immediately to see if anyone had started a discussion thread). I mean, I'm all down with giving people a sample of what they'd get, to entice them to buy, but usually that involves showing them what's actually in the book... You say that half of the images from the gallery are in the book. Which ones? And page numbers? 'Cause if I'm going so blind that I can't see these maps in my books, then I need to see a doctor... |

You're right. None of them are in there. I'll bet that they're from Magic of Eberron and they just messed up. I'm downloading them while I still can :) |
| Chaotix4208-26-05, 02:46 PM | Hey Brastan, can I buy your copy of the ExH off of you? 'Cuz none of those maps are in mine at all. There's a khyber shard cavern map, but it's different than the one in the gallery. And these maps are so pretty too... *EDIT* I think there's also a few maps in the Stormwrack gallery that aren't in the book either. Though, I do recognize a few of 'em. *EDIT #2* Majorafire, I bet you're right. Magic of Eberron is supposed to have a section on dragon magic and daelkyr magic, and there's a map of some dragon totems, a dragon "retreat," and a map called the "Stained Fortress." With a section labeled "THE CYST," I'd wager it has something to do with abberations. :P Good call! |
| ekomega08-26-05, 02:54 PM | Glad to see I'm not crazy. I was really looking for a printable version of the Lightning Rail Cart page from ExH. |

It's a bit annoying that they don't have the EH maps up now, but a sneak peak of what's to come is great. I'm personally very excited about the Alchemist Savant Workshop (the Cannith Alchemist Savant (http://www.wizards.com/dnd/images/sharn_gallery/84587.jpg) was put into the S:CoT art gallery but not into the book). They must have decided that it was a better fit for MoE (and that's probably about the time that they would've made the decision I'd think). Sweet. The Karrnathi Undead Research Facility sounds awesome as well. |
| Ycore Rixle08-26-05, 04:19 PM | I don't know what's up with those maps. Majorafire's guess is a good one. I can, however, shed some light on the EH art gallery. In the EH art gallery (here (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/ag/20050812b)), there are several pictures that don't appear in the book. I happen to know what they represent because I wrote the material for them. There just wasn't room in the final book to include them. They might be released in the future as a web enhancement, I suppose, so I won't reveal everything here. EDIT: Hm, on second thought, they might even be saving them for another book... I'm going to hold off describing them until I get the go-ahead from WOTC. Second Edit: Ok, the good news is that I can't say anything. :) That's good news, because it means that the material for those pictures may be coming out officially, rather than just a posting on a message board. |
| a_psh08-26-05, 05:13 PM | EDIT: Hm, on second thought, they might even be saving them for another book... I'm going to hold off describing them until I get the go-ahead from WOTC. Between the undead-looking critter, the person frozen in a block of ice, and the severed head, these seem to be pretty focused on the dark and gritty side of adventuring. Whatever this Hulgate thing is, it seems intriguing. |
| Majorafire7708-26-05, 07:57 PM | Yes! I was correct! I win! Anyway, those other pics in the EH gallery. Let me be the first to say that I think that they're for PGtE (http://www.amazon.ca/exec/obidos/ASIN/0786939125/qid%3D1125100575/702-4778319-5540014), which will obviously be more fluffy than the FR counterpart due to the fact that no update is required. I must say that I like that Stormreach pic a lot. |
| Bocklin08-27-05, 02:52 AM | Now the page says "Magic of Eberron"! That's really the first time ever that they publish the maps of products that is two or three months down the line... It can only be a mix up. Quite interestingly, the links still use a path containing "ExpHndbk". I guess someone has messed things up... With the weekend there, it might be that they don't change this before Monday. I hope someone does not lose their job over it... Bocklin |

A lot of the Eberron art gallerys have pictures in them that didn't make it into the book they're listed under. For instance, the Cannith Tower picture in the S:CoT gallery was put into the Five Nations book. |

Did we ever include the CAS into the Girls of Eberron thread? If not, we should have. |
| JohnnyONeal08-28-05, 10:44 AM | The gallery now reveals (http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/ag/20050826b) that the mystery images are from Magic of Eberron. Neat! |
